@babykevinxoxo No. The Minuteman III at one time had 3 MIRV warheads that were 300-350 kilotons each. Now the Minuteman III has only 1 warhead at 300-350 kilotons. There are only like 500 still in silos. Most of our nuclear missile are on submarines and are on bombers as ALCM's.

There's something I don't understand about land-based ICBM's near populated areas. They can't be any more reliable than the rockets that launch people and spy satellites, right? Probably less-reliable. So in a mass-launch, there would be enough ICBM's blowing up or going off course and landing in someone's backyard to be a huge radioactive catastrophe. Are land-based ICBM's the last ones to be launched in a war scenario? I sure hope so...

The Soviets didn't intervene there due to an attack on their homeland, it was because they were trying to prop-up an allied socialist regime that was being threatened by the Mujahideen. It's better to compare the American war in Vietnam in to the Soviet's Afghan war, and I don't think anyone would applaud either one.

The Trident D5 is a hellish unstable missile fired from a submarine, and there's videos to prove it. The Tsar bomb has been scrapped and it's likely another will never be dropped, and the most stable ICBM that is stored today is the Minuteman II or the LGM-118a Peacekeeper.

So unless Russia was in a war with Pakistan, and the nukes started flying, the shield would not matter. The ABM treaty's goal was to preserve the deterrent MAD provided. Russia has the best anti missile shield ever used. They also have a much better one developed during the 70's and US made them sign a treaty that they will not use that anti-missile system, simply because the US rockets would have been inefficient. Even the shield used today is much more efficient than the US one while the US one can't do anything about the super-sonic individual warheads.
This is why you fuckers want a shield in Eastern Europe so that you can intercept Russian missiles in time.

The Soviets didn't intervene there due to an attack on their homeland, it was because they were trying to prop-up an allied socialist regime that was being threatened by the Mujahideen. It's better to compare the American war in Vietnam in to the Soviet's Afghan war, and I don't think anyone would applaud either one.

well, considering that our government and their government is part of a nuclear coalition pact to dismantle/safely hold the rest of our planet's nuclear arsenal, that is doubtful in the first place. but yes, there are many anti-ICBM measures that the US cooks up. the coolest one is a modified boeing 747 with a laser system on its nose that can locate and destroy the missile in less than 15 seconds.

@airsoftrules987 IMO Russia could not survive either an offensive or defensive major launching of its own weapons, because they would have to hit all the USA missiles on their borders as well as the NATO missiles throughout Europe, and the fallout would destroy Russia. The USA is so far away and has such good stealth and so many missiles right on Russia's border that they might be able to hit them hard enough fast enough that they would not have time to give launch orders... Reagan thought so.

The Trident D5 is a hellish unstable missile fired from a submarine, and there's videos to prove it. The Tsar bomb has been scrapped and it's likely another will never be dropped, and the most stable ICBM that is stored today is the Minuteman II or the LGM-118a Peacekeeper.

most likely not, it was a weapon race, every measure resulted in a counter measure, when things like the rocket shield became reality they settled on missiles with more then one warhead aboard, i believe even as much as 10 warheads. these warheads deploy before re entry. mutual destruction is still the prospect

Also, even though there are many minuteman, it is not as modern as 5th gen icbms such as topol m and rs 24. Even though it has modernized its delivery and booster systems, it has a low survivability rate compared to the maneuverable warheads in the rs 24. Since we dont have SBL unless the government is hiding it or new icbms, Our missile force is vulnerable compared to Russia and now china has 5th gen icbm. The start treaty said to reduce stockpiles not stop creating new missiles.

Russia and china is creating new missiles to replace their old while we a sitting her with old icbm's that are 40 years old. Russia is modernizing its ss 18 and creating new misles such as the rs 24 while maintaining stockpiles.We need new missiles or at least bring back mirv to the minuteman. Or we will be vulnerable without preemptive strike. Unless the government is hiding Space based lasers and new missiles, these missiles are outdated and expensive to maintain compared to Russia and China

Actually, Russia developed the best missile shield system in the world.
Look up A-135 + S400 + S500 + Gazelle. The Russians are well covered. So well covered that the US wanted both Russia and US to sign an Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty so that the Russians will not be so well defended against the crappy Minuteman II
You should really get some information before you make a statement. If you would have researched it, you would have found that the Russian Anti Ballistic Missile Shield is the best!

The treaty was signed and Russia is not using it's BEST system. They are using a defense system that is a little older but it's still the best in the world. If Russians would use their latest anti-ballistic system, they'd be able to protect China too just because the system has a very long range :))

And if you would have researched kind sir, you would have discovered that even the Russian's "shield" could only have protected Moscow and a few bases from a few warheads. So unless Russia was in a war with Pakistan, and the nukes started flying, the shield would not matter. The ABM treaty's goal was to preserve the deterrent MAD provided. No one is well covered and hopefully that is the way it stays.

Russia has the best anti missile shield ever used. They also have a much better one developed during the 70's and US made them sign a treaty that they will not use that anti-missile system, simply because the US rockets would have been inefficient. Even the shield used today is much more efficient than the US one while the US one can't do anything about the super-sonic individual warheads.
This is why you fuckers want a shield in Eastern Europe so that you can intercept Russian missiles in time.

@TheSubzerogr The plane carrying the tsar bomba was a specially prepared, unique plane. And even if they still had TU95s that could carry it they would have been blown out of the sky long before reaching enemy territory. You need missiles to deliver weapons these days. I'm pretty sure I know a lot more about nuclear weapons than you.
