  • @GozerTheGozerian it's true, mobility and footwork are incredibly important, even in dag. however, this video is for educational purposes only. i've seen many of these people fight and none of them just stand there. the reason they're not moving around now is because they are illustrating other principles of swordplay. your martial arts instructor doesn't move around while he's showing you a new strike, he shows it to you on its own first, then incorporates it.

  • I suggest doing the actions and maybe voice overs, the wind makes bad sound quality

  • I commented on Part 1, but again...he doesn't move his feet at all while demonstrating his "advanced" techniques. I beg you guys to please stop dispensing bad advice culled from theatrical combat choreography and "martial" successes against 280-pound, bearded men who function as immobile targets.

It doesn't work like it does in the movies. If you're doing it right, the engagement is over in 5 seconds. Standing there waving a sword around in broad sweeps is the worst possible way to fight.

  • anyone know any good groups in arizona?

  • i was wondering if there is a group in texes and were they are because i am starting to get in this if not i might start my own gruop :D

  • any groups in Florida?! omg this is cool

  • are there one of these groups in ohio

  • There are several.

    What part of ohio?

  • @PuriaBestia twords dayton

  • @raccoon753

Well, if you're not far from Columbus, there's Rivendell, which is actually where I fight. There's also Corvalin in Dayton, but I'm not sure how active they are, and I guarantee the fighters are better in Rivendell.

Google "land of Rivendell" to get to our forums.

  • and so to sum it all up its about fun and nopthing eles nobody wins in these games.... if you want view one of my favs on the discovery channle about this stuff and its a better picture on how it all plays together and yes his moves do show up in that vid and he does take down a guy in it. so your view on his tactics are wrong bc people do dot that stuff on the battle field there. i seen it happen.

  • I bet its funny that why I'm gonna do it =)

  • ya it is funny. he goes to the cone a lot in that vid. and yup. this stuff is worth a shot if you live nere the area of there realms... i live in new york and theres a practice coming up soon so im going to it and than a battle afterwords with a couple of the peple there.

  • the red round-shield guy knows a lot more of what he's talking about. the bandana guy is insecure (wich is ok if he's still learning and stuff)

the blond black-shield guy is full of BS

I would take this guy with just the 1-handed and without the shield. A lot of my training friend's would take this "sword mentor" out and we are still learning.

  • ya where u learning? did you ever go to one of these before? there alot of fun and thats what its about FUN. you should see the discovery channle about this. its a better explanation and its funny to whatch the guy get hit in the head with a arrow and he does it it slow motion.... but back to the vid and your comment. its about the fun and experiance. not to historical based bc inreality if you got hit in the leg you would prob bleed to deaht but in this game you could still fight.

  • @Raposaum Taking a boxing or MMA class (striking obviously) would give you much more to work with than taking the bad advice in these videos.

The principles are the same regardless of whether you've got weapons or not – stabs always find their mark before broad swings, footwork is absolutely essential, cardio is a requirement, and never, ever stand still with both feet planted on the ground unless you want to get your ass beat.

Don't stand there like this guy, it won't end up well.

  • @GozerTheGozerian You are obviously a mentally retarded fucknut who doesn't understand the first thing about these videos. This is not about MMA it is about boffing/dagorhir specific combat. Go grapple with other sweaty men and stop pretending you know the first thing about sword play.

  • @alexandertooher Yes because awkward nerds with foam swords and atrophied muscles are renowned for their physical combat prowess, and people are lining up to pay you for training. What do you call the technique where you stand still with neither foot moving, waiting to get the everliving piss beaten out of you? Or is that move only viable at lvl 16 with at least 22,500 XP? You silly twat.

  • @GozerTheGozerian -sigh- Martial arts are different from LARP, and street fights are different from LARP fights. I've been in both, and the difference is palpable. Trying to mesh the two together is just plain wrong, it's two completely different "arts." And in all actuality too much foot movement will tire you out, then you lose the fight. And speaking of MMA, have you seen Lesnar's stand up game, he doesn't do any footwork besides lifting his foot every now and then, and he wins.

  • @glowinghexer Brock Lesnar sucks, and is not a good example. Lyoto Machida, Fedor, Dan Henderson, Jon Jones, GSP, Anderson Silva...all those guys have impeccable footwork. And in sword combat, if you get "tired out" you're doing it wrong. The movies portray swordfights as protracted battles, when in reality sword fights would end in seconds.

No matter what you say, standing there with both feet planted on the ground is an invitation to get your ass beat. This is fact.

  • Its not much fun in a simulation combat if your opponent can hit you in ways that no fighter would ever do. Simply slightly touching the your opponent doesnt mean its a valid strike (as there are unvalid strikes in kendo and fencing for this reason).

I know its complicaded and I know its about feinting and (what was most used on medieval wars) wearing down you opponent's defences by attacking and linking another attack before he can recover (also being aware of counter-attacks).

  • well the only weapon fighting I know is the ones I learned from kung-fu - and even then its more coreography to train agility than actual fighting (staff is the only weapon you rly learn to use in combat)

2:00 its stupid - for making this feint he did a rly weird move, even with the other guys still, he would hit that in combat, woudnt reach at all. Thats rly not what one witha sword and shield would do to open his opponent defences.

I think he rly doesn't know what he is talking about =/

  • you dont know until your there. trust me on that! its more complicated than you know dude....

  • no, really

I thought the intention was to simulate a sword&shield combat (without real harm of course) but this is not it. At 1:40 wth? Even light troops would weara leather armor and those attacks he is simulating have no strength and would not cut even leather (at most it would bruise the opponent).

I KNOW they wont use real strength in this play but I'm saying that those (weird) attacks couldn't have strength even if tried and thus are not valid at all. He is making it up.

  • or when somone slash downward use your shield bash the sword up and slice his belly

  • lowsy footwork and that guy will definitely trip over his pants..

  • Eryndor ftw.

  • the guy with the bandana has a really bad feetwork ..

  • this is for people who take this really serious. if u don't care and just run out and have fun this stuff doesn't matter

  • There is now a chapter in Central Arkansas. I am the chapter founder. You can message me here or you can get our contact information from the Dagohir Website. Our age requirement for our events is 15. However, we have a Junior League for kids age 11-14.

  • myself and some friends are looking to become a part of this, and we were wondering if there were any gatherers in minnesota...if not that wont stop us but it would be helpful for us to find a mentor...

  • I like the way you explain everything

  • these are helpful, thanks.

i am curious however of the shape on omega's weapon. is it just like a club with tape around the bottom? or is it less foam near the handle and more near the top, with the top being theonly legal striking surface.?

i like it and want to make one similar, just wondering how it works, thanks.

  • ty 4 the vid

  • I made some Dagorhir nunchucks, are they legal?

  • Can you post a video of these Dagorhir nunchucks in action?
