I have always liked George Harrison's music. I got this album for Christmas one year when I was young. I wore out my phonograph needle with it. I have never seen it on CD. I'd buy it in an instant.
@binstence I'm pretty sure Carole King or Goffin/King had nothing to do with He's So Fine. They did write songs for the Chiffons, But not that one. "One Fine Day". (another "Fine" song)
@nafaidni First I had to asked what "<" meant, Then I had to find it on the keyboard. To say George had a greater solo career than John is not saying much. To say he had a great solo career is saying too much.
@binstence Actually I think this was about the lawsuits involved in the Beatles breakup. The My Sweet Lord court case didn't happen until a few years later. George covered that in "This Song" on his 33 1/2 album.
@tenniscollector Misery loves company, but by this time John had enough of George Harrison who considered himself an equal to Lennon/Mccartney. Harrison was big phony and a hypocrite. Hire Krishna my ass!
The truth was George wanted to leave The Beatles since 1966 (According to Olivia Harrison) but he stuck out with them because he was loyal, until things kept getting ugly.
It's ironic because he was the one who complained all those years for the Beatles to come to an end and here he is making a song, making it sound like he doesn't want to go through with it. It only took John's signature and for years he wouldn't sign the papers.
Yeah George was happy to get out of the Beatles, but merely being a solo artist compared with spending the next 20 years in court is very different....
Man I hate the songs the Beatles wrote about each other on their solo albums. So bitter and miserable to hear.

I know this song is about The Beatles breakup but it also seems relevant in today's North American culture, unfortunately.

Does anyone know if John is that other vocalist on SYSMB or if not, was he involved in any of the other "Living in the material world" tracks ?

I find it ironic that George wrote this song and here he is bitching at the other Beatles to dissolve the partnership. Hypocrite.

How is it ironic? George's sarcasm is directed at the fact that the Beatles had sunk into litigation. There's nothing hypocritical about it at all.
