At the end of the day, the iPad runs on a mobile operating system with hardware to fit a mobile operating system. It's limits are that of an iPhone, and it's speed is that of a beefed up iPhone. Windows 7 is certainly not a mobile operating system, and the hardware is certainly not limited in any way. IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A USB FOR GOD SAKE.

Oh USB, SD-Card....who cares? Well this are Tablet-PCs. How the name says they are Computers and not only bigger IpodTouch. I think a USB-Port and SD-Card are something every Tablet-Pc needs. Ipad does not support Flash which is a big minus for it------>example using Youtube. So i would prefer a Windows Tablet because they are much more a computer.......i can install these programms that i´ve got on my normal Pc and i´m independet on any store which probably does not offer all programms.

The Hanvon is actually pretty impressive for a WIndows tablet. Although there really is no comparison. One OS was designed for touch and light usage, while the other was designed for heavy usage with mouse and keyboard.
i don't think this is fair to compare those 2 operating systems first of al w7 isn't designed for touch yes it's compatible with touch but that's something different iOS is designed for touch so no wonder that the iPad pops out better and sorry for my crapy english

However, if you look at it by the other hand, MS and Apple are planning pretty much the same: Windows 8 would work well on Desktops and Tablets, Apple is currently working on integrating iOS with OS X, so they have one solid operating system on all their devices. I can understand if you need it for Photoshop, but that's not something you really need to be portable. @SpunkMouth69 Easy answer to your question... I use my tablet for business! If you use your tablet for entertainment only, then yes, there is no need for a tablet that can do so much. I, on the other hand see no point in purchasing a tablet, "for me" that does not have the ability to do what I need to make money, while at the same time having the ability to entertain. My experience may not be the same as yours but, I use windows on tablets and love it. No Problems At All!

Windows 8 is a step forward, it's touch friendly, has an appstore, and that metro design is dead sexy. It simply needed to be done a desktop interface doesn't work well for tablets. it's meant to be controlled by a mouse and keyboard not your fingers.
@SpunkMouth69 I just find it truly ironic that the same people who say windows icons are too small and not touch friendly, are the same people who love to text on a 3.5" touch screen phone. My point with that is I can copy/paste on a phone, hit targets, and more so when it comes to being productive on a Windows Tablet, I find it very touch friendly. I have been operating touchscreens on a variety of devices and find difficulty in none (palm, pocket pc, ios, android, win xp, 7)

Windows 7 tablets alone aren't made for the touchscreen. Yeah, that's a given.
But, if you compare the iPad or any app-based market tablets to Windows 7 tablets (assuming you're willing to invest money in a bluetooth/usb keyboard or mouse for those moments when you really need them), the iPad is only good for entertainment consummation while a Windows 7 tablet can be worked to serve all areas of functionality.

The problem with ms is that they lack imagination, they always play it safe. I don't see Microsoft being the same big player they used to be. The market is moving away from enterprise and more towards portable's such as the ipad and android devices.

The demonstrations in this video are OK, but how about the numerous things you can do on Windows that the iOS can't do? Like a previous comment said, you can hook up an Xbox controller and play REAL games that don't look like shit. You don't need a marketplace for Windows. You have the whole damn net full of free programs. If you're smart enough, you can mount an optical drive over a network too. Hook up any USB device. Run any video codec. But this stuff only matters if you need productivity...
Window can do flash and full online videos whie the the other can't and need seperate apps for video site plus you can play Halo on Windows with a wireless Xbox controller.

iPad owns! this video totally stands to the pc pad, and I don't understand truly how... You first show that you have no idea how to use the ipad's keyboard, using just one finger like a cripple.. while on the PC pad the buttons are so small that its much harder typing anyway. it moves annoyingly unsmooth, unlike the iPad which moves perfectly smooth, your internet connection also seem real bad.. If you want a toy (book reader, game player, movies, facebook, etc.) and you want it easy and simple, you want an ipad. If you want something that has the ability to run applications from your computer, just like a computer, but I can use it mobile, I want a Windows7 tablet (which I do). Besides which, I like that I canuse a usb internet dongle to get online when not around wi-fi.

Both have their pros and cons. Windows 7 tablet can run most apps a PC/Laptop can run. Windows 7 tablet can be "transformed" to a laptop if an external keyboard and mouse attached. And also can run PC games like (Valve 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood) et cetera. iPad if you want a feel of Mac OS X, to browse the iTunes store etc... And guess what, iPad doesn't need an antivirus?

This vid shows that they are basically on par. It's a matter of choice whether you prefer Windows or iOS. I'm mostly a Mac user (love OSX - tho not Lion) but in a Tablet I prefer Win7. FWIW tablet computers are nothing new. I nearly bought a 386 tablet back in the day. They failed to take off because, among other things, Windows 3.1 really didn't work well as a tablet OS.

yes pc tablets are awesome - I am a mac head from the 128 on - however when it came time to get my Mom, and Dad a "device" which meet 95% their communication needs - they are 71 and 75 the iPad was hands down the winner - no training required. I love the Viewpad running Win 7 and Android but I am a professor of IT - maybe Win 8 will be better till then old people NEED the iPad!
i currently have a 6 pound Dell Inspiron laptob & am looking 4 a much lighter tablet or pc notebook with still the same essentials like ethernet port(as a 2nd option in case WiFi or 3G signals fail with a steady connection). i want actual usb 2.0 ports, not micro usb so I can hook up compatible webcams, keyboards, printers, etc... tablets r great 4 intertainment but i need the productive power of a regular lightweight laptop pc. & operating system easily upgradeable

@Tdawg429 No doubt their channels are established, and I'd expect msft will weigh in on their slice of the digital pie. Consider also how significant it is to pave over the trend to start an entirely new paradigm as aapl did. And I'm sure they will do better than the Zune in reply to ipod, but I do not see innovation and refined thinking at the aapl level, in the msft dna.

@upisdn Microsoft has never really been about innovation, never will be. Their products will always be solid, but will never be great. The problem with ms is that they lack imagination, they always play it safe. I don't see Microsoft being the same big player they used to be. Windows is dying, and their downfall is and will be catering to the soon to be dinosaur that is windows. The market is moving away from enterprise and more towards portable's such as the ipad and android devices.

@Tdawg429 And aapl aint perfect, it took them like 4 years to get the cam button off the glass and on a usable tactile place ((-)vol btn), but look at msft.... control + alt + delete... for how many decades? Think of a new born, or elderly user, build for this, and grow it from there. Msft has catered to the "IT fraternity", as that has been their key node for marketing, empower them, make them the gatekeepers.

curioso, se nota que el objetivo del video era dejar mal parado a w7, claro, por algo no usan toda la capacidad que tiene, y muestran solo las debilidades, mientras que del ipad muestran las cosas "buenas", la verdad es que w7 es mucho mejor, mas completo y realmente una tablet, capas de reemplazar un netbook, el ipad solo sirve para jugar angry bird y tener zoom comodo, en el resto se keda corto comparado con w7, en el video se ve, carga mas lento todo, y para que hablar de precios...

I am sure other people have said this, but this is not a fair test.
iPads are proprietary nonsensical bigbrother control your life devices. Everything is controlled by apple. Ok, it isn't that bad, I actually like the idea of bad apps being filtered out...
The other tablet was running a real operating system, it was more of a dumbed down computer than a souped up phone.
This seems like a test between a desktop computer and a Chromebook.

The demonstrations in this video are OK, but how about the numerous things you can do on Windows that the iOS can't do? Like a previous comment said, you can hook up an Xbox controller and play REAL games that don't look like shit. You don't need a marketplace for Windows. You have the whole damn net full of free programs. If you're smart enough, you can mount an optical drive over a network too. Hook up any USB device. Run any video codec. But this stuff only matters if you need productivity...

@TheViciousAkira Well, I think windows will give a real computing feel to a tablet...Android is good on smartphones, but you can't do much on it... It's very hostile for a tablet OS... I am pretty sure my next computer will be an Asus Transformer-LIKE convertible tablet laptop running windows 8.....We will see though!

it's pretty much like other android tablets...fancy,beautiful and elegant mobile devices that can do pretty much everything..but still doesn't feel like a computer...
I believe windows 8 tablets with external keyboards (like Asus Eee Pad) will feel more like a computer, but smaller in size and more portable, yet classy
so for mobility and more-like cell phone experience - android tablets
full computing abilities, yet portable - windows 8!

On a windows tablet, it is so much more computing... and not to mention, computers are not meant to be played games on IMO... PS and XBOX are great devices to handle games...

iPad owns! this video totally stands to the pc pad, and I don't understand truly how... You first show that you have no idea how to use the ipad's keyboard, using just one finger like a cripple.. while on the PC pad the buttons are so small that its much harder typing anyway. it moves annoyingly unsmooth, unlike the iPad which moves perfectly smooth, your internet connection also seem real bad.. I'm both apple and PC user myself, and apple owns in most cases, the competition is over long ago.

If you want a toy (book reader, game player, movies, facebook, etc.) and you want it easy and simple, you want an ipad. If you want something that has the ability to run applications from your computer, just like a computer, but I can use it mobile, I want a Windows7 tablet (which I do). Besides which, I like that I canuse a usb internet dongle to get online when not around wi-fi.

Can't connect to most hardware.. Most hardware require mac OS X or windows, not IOS.. There is hardly no app support on itunes.. I almost bought ipad2 some hours ago.. But no, it does not support silhouette sd digital cutter.. No deal... Ipad2 can't even replace the cheapest w7 laptop.. It's just a toy.. I have to buy a new w7 laptop for now..

Both have their pros and cons. Windows 7 tablet can run most apps a PC/Laptop can run. Windows 7 tablet can be "transformed" to a laptop if an external keyboard and mouse attached. And also can run PC games like (Valve 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood) et cetera. iPad if you want a feel of Mac OS X, to browse the iTunes store etc... And guess what, iPad doesn't need an antivirus?

why does it always have to be MS v Apple? And why does it always have to come down to a slanging match - mostly from Microsoft supporters who can't spell?
This vid shows that they are basically on par. It's a matter of choice whether you prefer Windows or iOS. I'm mostly a Mac user (love OSX - tho not Lion) but in a Tablet I prefer Win7. I've used iPads, but they just seem like oversized iPhones, and I don't see the point of Android with it's buggie apps. Just my opinion.

@jrmixtapes 1. be a mobile OS designed for touchscreen use, rather than the latest iteration of a 16-year-old desktop metaphor with touchscreen drivers slapped onto it. This isn't specifically levelled at Windows 7, mind you-- Mac OS X and desktop Linuxes also suck donkey balls at being touchscreen-friendly.
FWIW tablet computers are nothing new. I nearly bought a 386 tablet back in the day. They failed to take off because, among other things, Windows 3.1 really didn't work well as a tablet OS.

yes pc tablets are awesome - I am a mac head from the 128 on - however when it came time to get my Mom, and Dad a "device" which meet 95% their communication needs - they are 71 and 75 the iPad was hands down the winner - no training required. I love the Viewpad running Win 7 and Android but I am a professor of IT - maybe Win 8 will be better till then old people NEED the iPad!

i currently have a 6 pound Dell Inspiron laptob & am looking 4 a much lighter tablet or pc notebook with still the same essentials like ethernet port(as a 2nd option in case WiFi or 3G signals fail with a steady connection). i want actual usb 2.0 ports, not micro usb so I can hook up compatible webcams, keyboards, printers, etc... tablets r great 4 intertainment but i need the productive power of a regular lightweight laptop pc. & operating system easily upgradeable
