3 things for your spawner, Ant... 1: its too wide, the water is best then it is on the edge, for safety you can have signs in the opening. 2: they don`t spawn in water, exept squids. 3: you need a dark room over the spawner w/ 3x3 holes in that room.

Ant, there is a torch glitch in 1.0 where torches can shine trough walls!

Thats why its so light inside your spawner.

I dont know how to explain it, but what you have to do:

go to the roof and the very very edge has to be 1 block higher so your whole roof is flat and there is not a edge of 1 block lower.

When you know place the torches of the edge back, the spawner will be dark

just a word of advice for the monster

spawner, if u have an 11x11 box, put water at each corner and it should lead into a 1x1 hole so mobs can just fall right in. i use this kind myself and it works really well

make it so the water is in sort of a ditch and when they fall into the water its a 2 block wide stream of water that is 1 block lower than the area where they spawn it works! (like so he can see please)
