In the UK it's called a civil partnership. My partner & I have been 'married' 6 years this October! Marriage to me means being willing to compromise and thinking of someone else besides yourself. We met, moved in together after 6 weeks and 'married' on our 3rd anniversary. I was in my 30's and had sown a lot of oats and was ready to settle down. We now live a quiet, domesticated life with our cat and couldn't be happier.
I think your both right but living with someone isn't easy. I live with my girlfriend now and the first 5 months over living together we had a fight everyday because everything we were use to changed. Its amazing and settled now but before that it was stressful. Remember you can't have a rainbow if you can't handle some rain.

I've been with my girl three years and as much as I'd like to make it official, we are perfectly happy the way things are right now. plus colorado still hasn't come around... hahah.
i wonder if get marry means just settle down for awhile with your "soul mate" and afterward someone got betrayed by the person who belived that you love so much
