The SRV vehicle is just a car with steel cage over it and armor (bullet-proof) ,the glass is bullet-proof too! This dont have "hydraulic flaps" ,and its not 7.5 tons LOL and the TIV haves IMAX Camera Turret ,this haves only Roof Camera on the ... u know , on the ROOF and its protected wit h bullet-proof lexan bubble!
The TIV is unique and its a "car" ,a moving tripod, when the SRV is Armored Car. A car with armor. The TIV is not a CAR ,its a steel cage,chasis with 8 inch's stick plate steel :) And its heavy. This car is not heavy but it can be lowered to the ground :)

It works, and it seems it will deflect the smaller flying objects. It's good to hear you have a roll bar and I hope the windows are protected. That roll bar will be a life saver, totally! You are 100% correct on this. The TIV doesn't have that great of traction. The SRV is only designed to take wind and radar measurements near the tornado, while the TIV is aimed to get inside the tornado for its measurements.
yeah, I can agree with Illinois! it looks like a TIV knockoff. I don't think I would trust the paneling in a tornado, or a reasonably big hailstorm. did you hear that tinny sound when they shut the doors? Another design flaw is the racing harness system. If a moderate storm rolls it, good luck getting out of there! ...I think this vehicle is awesome! It's going to get some great chases. Plus look at the speed it can reach still. It's not to heavy and big to where you wouldn't be able to get where you want and on certain roads you wouldn't be able to get on if you did have a heavier built vehicle... Yeah it was just an opinion...My fear is he will get stuck, be too close and not be able to get away. Speed dont help you on horrible roads or when the tornado is impacting you. I would rather be armored when a tractor is thrown at me 100mph than be fast anyday. As for reed getting to more places than the TIV, that remains to be seen since storm chasing is more about luck of the draw.

SRV isnt really meant to go INTO a tornado, but more on the lines of EXTREMELY CLOSE. i mean it can probably manage something like an F1 tornado from the looks of it, but it doesnt seem like it has as much weight as the TIV does. TIV2 is gonna be able to go into F3, possibly 4, tornadoes once its done bieng remodeled again. but even so! THIS VEHICLE PWNS!!! cant wait to see it in action out in the field! is it gonna be on Storm Chasers next upcoming season?! =D
Haha, I agree, needs some work on the speed of getting that probe out, and did the door close all the way when you got back in? It appeared to be ajar somewhat, but maybe it was just me.. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take for you to put on that harness? I'd hope not as long as it seemed to take in the video since once you decide it's going to get rough, it should already be on, since we all know that changes rather abruptly..

Its similar to TIV! Same idea and concept but far more lightweight and therefore mobile to 'incercept'. Though i doubt any will go as far as Sean Kasey's passion!

Gotta keep in mind that this is only designed to give them extra protection when they get close to tornadoes. It's not the TIVo it's not designed to drive into a tornado.
Very nice, kinda like a light TIV. Good idea on the vertical windspeeds next to the funnel, that should open up a wealth of data that hasn't been measured that accurately before to my knowledge anyway :D Just, remember to unlock the truck when deploying probes ;) XD
This is better than the TIV1 & TIV2, purely because the lowering mechanism is much faster, and also because the dominator doesn't have a great deal of excess weight, which allows the vehicle to be faster and more mobile, which is a major requirement for an intercept vehicle.
The only thing I'm not sure of is, is the estimated max wind speed that the dominator can withstand?
Great job on "The Dominator" guys and I wish you the very best of luck and success.

SRV isnt really meant to go INTO a tornado, but more on the lines of EXTREMELY CLOSE. i mean it can probably manage something like an F1 tornado from the looks of it, but it doesnt seem like it has as much weight as the TIV does. TIV2 is gonna be able to go into F3, possibly 4, tornadoes once its done bieng remodeled again. but even so! THIS VEHICLE PWNS!!! cant wait to see it in action out in the field! is it gonna be on Storm Chasers next upcoming season?! =D

Haha, I agree, needs some work on the speed of getting that probe out, and did the door close all the way when you got back in? It appeared to be ajar somewhat, but maybe it was just me.. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take for you to put on that harness? I'd hope not as long as it seemed to take in the video since once you decide it's going to get rough, it should already be on, since we all know that changes rather abruptly..

seems to be better than the TIV? so that's what reed's going to be using now? looks lighter but much more protective.... so they can move at greater speeds, and be more mobile, but at the same time it seems to be even more safe....

Its similar to TIV! Same idea and concept but far more lightweight and therefore mobile to 'incercept'. Though i doubt any will go as far as Sean Kasey's passion!

Gotta keep in mind that this is only designed to give them extra protection when they get close to tornadoes. It's not the TIVo it's not designed to drive into a tornado.

Very nice, kinda like a light TIV. Good idea on the vertical windspeeds next to the funnel, that should open up a wealth of data that hasn't been measured that accurately before to my knowledge anyway :D Just, remember to unlock the truck when deploying probes ;) XD

This is better than the TIV1 & TIV2, purely because the lowering mechanism is much faster, and also because the dominator doesn't have a great deal of excess weight, which allows the vehicle to be faster and more mobile, which is a major requirement for an intercept vehicle.
The only thing I'm not sure of is, is the estimated max wind speed that the dominator can withstand?

They didn't copy the TIV, if they did it would of broke down.

The SRV looks like it'll handle wind and hail......but 125+ mph winds.....going to roll.
I'd call the mythbusters for a test (maybe use pneumatic outriggers made of aluminum I-beams).

I think it could withstand more wind than that. If wind can't get underneath it and lift it up, it should be safe through quite a lot.
