  • Why is the naginata being hold with the back hand almost at the middle of the ebu? Any particular reason...? Just curiosity, I'd like to know the reasoning behind it, if possible.

  • @k0ns0l3 The Naginata, in its real version, is quite heavy, on the blade specially,

    on the explaining, may it have been held nera the blade for the camera to catch better all the elements, but on the fight, Sensei was fighting with the naginata, and that might have been the better balance that sensei found for that movements he intended to do against his opponent. Can´t give you the exact answer. Thanks for do question.

    Yes, it also seemed to me like it was a question of recording the technique for the video but then I noticed the same thing at the jigeiko and that lead me to wonder if it was a characteristic from some specific koryu. The technique does seem a little koryu-ish (although I'm veeerrrryyyyyy new to atarashii naginata) although setting up for a specific technique would make sense. Naginata does seem to have lots of different forms for the same techniques.
