  • I miss the old SciFi layout.

  • This show is just as real as other reality TV shows, which is to say: not at all. Everyone on the screen is an actor. He isn't tricking those two marketing agents. They are in on it. Instead, Derren Brown is tricking you, the viewers, and he is doing it in a way that is actually very boring and normal.

  • @ApostateAbe

I guess you don't understand how the publicity and advertising agencies determine the culture of your country.

  • @MissMariet31 I am fully aware, actually. Advertising has plenty of power, but they have power only when people pay direct attention to the ads, which is all the power they need. They don't have much power if the images exist only in your passing glance or peripheral vision. There is no psychological theory or application that would suggest that thoughts will be planted in your mind like that. Derren Brown fools the viewers, not the fellow actors.

  • @MissMariet31 And, if you don't believe me, go to the page after you do a Google search for: "Derren Brown’s lottery win = A split camera trick disguised as wisdom of crowds"

  • Not as good as the stuff in the Mindreading Exposed ebook

  • shit, that blew my mind, I'm no more going out

  • That is scary! I feel like my ideas could definitely not be my own :(

  • A listening device and a little dexterity are needed to make this work - a much better explanation for how this was done, imho

  • Subliminal advertising doesn't exist. Whomever think it exists is delusional

  • @InternationalMedia maybe you should explain your reasoning before insulting people

  • @cat2cube All scientific testing on the subject of subliminal advertising has shown that it's largely ineffective.

  • @ElmoPansy interesting.. how did you hear about the testing? I believe advertisers would love it if it was true, so i can imagine there were plenty of tests

  • @InternationalMedia even if you say it didn't doesn't mean the brain still won't retain images it had seen for only a split second :P It's idiotic to say anything that tricks or bypasses the mind doesn't exist

  • "A chain of taxi journey stores..."

  • @JiveDadson - I thought that sounded weird...

  • INCEPTION

  • 2:08 - "...of... taxiJOURNEY stores..."

  • Subliminal mEssage eXperiment..

  • @Whyrweherereally Subliminal succEss. you are an eXpert.

  • @blueflame7000 hehe.

  • why was this on the scifi channel

  • someone could have observed their writing process, drawn a picture incorporating some of their thoughts and ideas and then switched envelopes when nobody was looking.

  • @guselsky how does that explain the subliminal drawings before the writing process when they were in the car?

  • @dayman52 That could have been shot afterwards.

  • it's impossible! omg!

  • thats amazing---but it doesnt stop here---during your everyday life there is subliminal ads everywhere---look at the bottom of billboards on the road---stickers on poles, toll boths--- and everywhere else keep your eyes peeled and lisin to your own generated thoughts without the influence of an outside source

  • amazing... does anyone know of any good websites / videos that can explain how this all actually works?

  • this is very freudian in the symbolism

  • i think derren brown is the best wat do you think

  • @MultiPopoking the best... in what? :)

  • i thought the tears came from when he drew his fingers downward from his eyes at about 2:20 DAMN I thought I was catching onto his tactics...

  • @EvilApple818 You actually WERE catching on! The finger drag brings to mind the tears that they saw all along their drive, subliminally of course lol

  • @xshadoex oh yeah! XD I forgot that just because they saw those pictures along the way doesn't mean he didn't add some more influence later.

  • NO not you to!!!

why is he showing 1 eye in the begining?

is he one of them to?

  • get use to it bitches.

Either you kill or be killed in this world.

No-one has the time for your bitching and whining.

    The world isn't fair.

  • If I were them two and I watched 7:30 to end I would have been so freakin flabbergasted

  • Let's assume for a moment that he spied on them while working and swapped the envelope and go from there (you have probably seen more amazing illusions than that). Given this assumption the trick is extremely simple - just use video editing to overlay the "subliminal" images on the footage shot and you are ready to go ...

  • our minds are extremely powerful, but we only pay attention to such a small amount of what our minds perceive.

  • anyone else notice he said :"so it is a chain of Taxi journey stores"

    2:09. pay attention.

  • @asafpipman

    Lol

    Good catch!

  • interesting

  • sorry, but I can't help it. At 4:24 Mommy is mis spelled.

    Mommy not 'momy'

    GRR! LOL

    SORRY

  • Isn't it odd that these two gentlemen look extremely similar to the British guys on the British version of this trick?

  • Show one harp in a window on a route through London and a stuffed bear, and you can EXACTLY PREDICT they'll draw a bear with a harp? The goal is not to trick those ad-guys, but to trick YOU. Camera's registered what was drawn, a quick was made of imitation of it (only of the first draft, logically), and smuggled in. And the subliminal hints? Partly in the cab-ride BACK (very quickly arranged) and partly shot while the ad-guys weren't even in the cab; simple editing tricks. YOU GOT TRICKED! :-)

  • Subliminal messaging has been thoroughly debunked.

Read "50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology," Lilienfeld,et al.

You people are being scammed by this video.

  • @TheProphetNabob The question that remains in my mind is, is he a psychologist, a hypnotist, or a magician? Either way, I don't believe his explanations of how it happened either but then a magician never reveals his tricks. How could he know they would stare out the window instead of chat? You might want to watch the 'stuck to the chair' videos before replying, as well as the one about the red bmx bike. If you've read the book, does it say anything about imagery vs. word based messaging?

  • By the way==

    There is no Unconscious.

  • @TheProphetNabob how do you mean

  • @TheProphetNabob

If there is no unconscious, please explain something to me. Imagine you can't remember the name of an actor, and you think very hard about it. You can't recall. Suddenly, hours later, the name pops into your head. This is the work of the unconscious mind working while your conscious mind carries on. Perhaps what we see in this show is plotted, but the unconscious mind is very real. I assure you.

  • Most unconvincing.

There's no possibility that these men saw all those images from inside the taxi.

Just because the cameras were trained on them, that doesn't mean the men were.

Darren is an illusionist, a professional liar.

Video cameras and actors are just more tools in an illusionist's toolbox.

  • @TheProphetNabob well they are not supposed to be focused on it thats why its subliminal messages like in commercials your subconscious mind picks up on things your not focusing on and you would think about it in the future without knowing that you witnessed it in a commercial also like when you do homework with the t.v on and your really focusing on the homework but your subconscious is listening to the t.v without you noticing

  • that is epic

  • All very good. But how do I use this strategy to get beautiful smart ladies to sleep with me? lol

  • Take a photo of your d*ck, photocopy it and stick it on all the lamp-posts in your neighbourhood next to a photo of yourself.

Oh you said SMART ladies. Stick an x-ray of your brain next to it.

  • A photo of you next to a photo of your d*ck might subliminally convince them that you're a d*ck.

  • @8DX Wahahahahahahahahaha

  • Watch the clip on "Mental Conducting" very carefully to get some good ideas on that. Slipping subliminal text into your spoke words WORKS!

  • @Tehui1974 its a wonderfull thing called alcohol

  • @Tehui1974 Come up with a strong visual image that will become associated with you, lets say a very specific clothing item, or a very specific color and make sure to weave that into her everyday routine, then come up to her with that visual stimulation very obvious - thus creating an immediate and subconscience recognition... then you drug her and have sex with her, of course :)

  • @Tehui1974 There is book for that. That uses NLP, look up Ross Jeffries.

  • @Tehui1974 it's not so hard cola did it whit a movie

  • @Tehui1974 its the same dude.put some poster in ur room. like the kiss and besides put one of HIM.. u got it ?put the blow (movie) n then the rocker (him) use and make words for u. n u can b doing a babe tonite.

  • @Tehui1974 Chocolate cologne works every time.

  • @Tehui1974 Oxymoron? Beautiful smart ladies? Usually they are one or the other. LOL.

  • @Tehui1974 use sexual metaphors, double entenders and anything that can be sexual, anything that can warrant a thats what he/she said without saying "thats what she/he said"

Using things like New direction (nude erection) concoct in you, (con Cock in you) or any description that mimics a process in sex or sexual arousal.

Eg, describing a roller coaster as if it were sex, (the buildup, the explosion of extacy as you crest over the top)

Being descriptive and speaking poetically and deep are key.

  • @Tehui1974

Easy, what you need is called alcohol...

Alcohol, helping ugly to get sex. lol

  • @Tehui1974 simple ..its all abt inducing a feeling ..when dating the feeling they would be looking for ..is a feeling of this is the right guy ..this is the "one"..etc. Females r mch mre drawn to romance ,personality etc ...to get the mr. right feeling ..u should be able to converse in that fashion . Just like movies make u feel and emote.. u can also directly what is essentially suggest ..that u r that kind of a person..: Dont try and dupe anything ..It cud be abt urself OR even HER . hehehehe

  • @ejuoi

    idiot

  • Imagine how much subliminal messaging is going on every minute in this world...

  • @Danger12233 Actually, none. Advertisers don't even waste their time. Read the book about Great Myths of Psychology, posted above.

  • @Danger12233 not sure if i believe the silly flashing words idea but advertisers use subliminal devices all the time. The more we see an attractive girl drinking peps, the more our mind starts to associate sex with soda and soda with sex.

  • @Danger12233 Everything registers into your subconscious mind, thus everything can be considered "subliminal messaging", but there just is no mastermind abusing all the facts which get stuck in your head either temporarily or for good. I like anal sex.

  • @miskee12 - Yes there is. It's the whole reason advertising is effective and why companies spend billions of dollars on it annually.

    That shit works.

  • @miskee12 Im afraid you have been tricked in to thinking you like it, its programing there to

  • on which of his dvds i can find this clip?

  • As Real As is Gets sounds better.

  • 0:17 AS REAL AS YOU LIKE

    hahahaha

  • Nice find.

  • sigh, i forget what i found.

  • Why do you idiots believe an edited, produced piece that has NO rules against hiring actors and scripting scenes, and stars a scammer who extracts money from people who feel powerless by telling them how to control people (*Ross Jefferies*)

Neuro-linguistic programming is a big load of crap.

  • Or perhaps this man is dedicated to rooting out the real scam artists. He doesn't shy aaway in telling people that he is a deciever himself.

  • Or perhaps he's dedicated to editing the film and hiring actors to fool people into believing that they can control others. He profits off selling this crap. I know a cameraman who worked on this show and this is ALL scripted. Sorry.

  • LOL The "I know a person" story. I admit acknowledgement that some of what he does is utter bullshit, but there are many things he does simply in the name of calling other people on their bullshit. You're do a decent job at deception, yourself. That is, you being a troll and all.

  • What If I said I am a camera man on the show and said none of it was bullshit then what?

  • dont be such a kill-joy why do you even care?

  • he is a businessman first and foremost. EVERYONE forgets that.

  • PS Decidedly, Ross Jeffries is a hack.

  • dont be a kill-joy why do you even care? Is what people think really hurting you because if it is then you really need to get a life

  • Yeah? I used a Derren Brown technique to get a guy to 'think' of the 3 of diamonds. This guy used to work for a European parliament, speaks 6 languages (and writes poems in those languages) and knows a hell of a lot about world history, religion and politics. When I told him the card he had thought of he just said: "How the f*ck did you do that?" LOL

Oh! BTW nobody has ever admitted to being a Derren Brown stooge - stop being so cynical!

  • My friend was in charge of wrangling and prepping Derren Brown's "random subjects". Some were even paid 200 pounds to participate. He also has "scripts" that people were given on "Big Brother" telling them what to do every day. Stop being so gullible.

  • I just told you what happened in real life: no studio, no scripts, no payments - I got this intelligent guy to think of the card I wanted him to and he couldn't work out how I did it. I used Brown's techniques.

Why doesn't your friend 'spill the beans' to the press? I'm not so gullible as to believe your bullshine.

  • My friend doesn't "spill the beans" because he really doesn't care, and would also like to keep working on tv shows, he has 5 kids. People sign contracts about that kind of stuff.

By the same token, why should I believe your "Jedi Mind Trick" story?

  • oh my god a 1 in 52 chance!? and yes, there is a man who came out as admitting to being a stooge. his youtube name is psychokiller2007 or something like that

  • OMG.... this is impressive!

  • OMG.... it's completely fake!

  • How do you know?

  • I know because the person who told me this is reliable, I have known him for 30 years and he has been a cameraman for 20 of those years. He worked on "Joe Millionaire" and told me the outcome of that show 4 months before it aired.

  • derren brown is really amazing, Check My ChanneI for full episodes

  • Derren Brown is Legend!

  • Wow that's really impressing :O

  • that's pretty neat. kinda scary how people can be manipulated like that, but cool nonetheless.

  • the cab says as real as you like

  • I was wondering why his making a tear motion thing at the beginning. derren brown rules

  • Tony and Martin!

  • Very interesting stuff...

  • "as real as it gets" is the slogan for UFC lol

  • This is freakin awesome !!!

  • the question is, what the hell did this guy study? general psych? just that? impossible.

  • i can do that been doinit for ages now and im only 18

  • WOW GOOD FOR YOU!

  • your sarcasm wont work with me dickfaced muff muncher

  • you're a real sociopath, then.

  • you can also notice that when derren says "images" at 1:24 he motions his fingers down his face in the way you would to symbolize tears. one more quick subliminal to redirect their minds to think back to what they had been unconsciously absorbing.

  • Wow so this proves that we're influenced by things we see and hear around us. Wow what a relief and here I thought I got my ideas from....nowhere. Good to know that I live and breath in the real world.

  • he did something very similar on the UK version of the show.

  • WOW just wow

  • That is so incredible

  • Derren says this at 2:08 "a chain of taxi-joureny stores".

  • I'm skeptical of this subliminal messaging explanation.

I think it's a distraction for however he's actually doing the trick - the trick of mimicking what the guys were working on and switching the envelopes.

  • You're right about the first thing - he does suggest a method of how it is done that is almost all a lie, but your solution to this is not correct unfortunately. I have tried something similar so i have an idea on how it could be done.

  • As an amateur magician, you have a vested interest in keeping the solutions mysterious and shooting down the simple, boring answer.

The reason I think it was a switch is the chess episode. Derren 'predicted' the number of pieces left over at the end of three chess games he did not actually participate in.

This makes me think that he's more than capable of a quick switch.

  • Undoubtly he is able to, but i'm just saying that in this trick there is an alternative possibility to the before mentioned. Also, i've been experimenting with the idea of Zink Paper (google it) for prediction tricks ... maybe he took a similar idea first?

  • That's possible but don't you still need some sort of writing device? It would work with the cat maybe, but less likely in some dude's pocket like the chess episode. But that is possible for this one maybe.

  • i just thought that it was a bit of a coincidence that he chose to put the cat ontop in the US series. And as for writing it, the cameras normally have live feeds to another room, so as the guys are writing, derren can draw his own. But then how'd he know in advance to set up the taxi stuff? Dunno! - perhaps it was an out, perhaps it is the taxi journey on the way back after revealing their designs.

  • You can test it yourself if it's true. Let see a friend the first minutes of the video. Then ask him to make a poster for a product (the task Derren gave to the people). When it's influenced by the subliminal signs in this video, you can be sure that it works. Otherwise, you can have doubts about it.

  • Taxidermy... yuck. Fascinating experiment.

  • Wish I knew how to pull this shit off.

  • you already know - he explains it

  • What's BS about it? not the most articulate criticism.

  • This is so much bullshit

  • how is it bullshit?

  • i saw this on tv, i thought it was 1. brilliant 2. fucking scary and makes you NEVER wanna watch an advert again!

  • IM NOT A SHEEP

  • holy shit lol first thing i picked up was when they were getting into the car and the dinosaur

  • lmfao,

i see wa he did there =D

  • oh, that's very interesting. I've been intrigued with advertising since Darrin Stephens on Bewitched. I don't think this is evil at all. Just useful marketing techniques. An interesting study of how the mind works. Coorporate logos of course are getting us comfortable for the NWO to come.

  • maybe the the NWO insiders play the same tricks on advertising employees..to get ther message across by tricking them into thinking they themselves created it.

  • oh it all squirts out the tube exactly as planned. The elections and the next for years have already been carefully planned out. the elite know exactly what is going to happen. they just want you to think YOU did it, like you said. and then they change the scene. TURN OFF THE TV. the box is not used the same as it was 40 years ago.

  • After watching this, try telling me that a small group of evil people can't control the direction of this planet for their own ends!

The Old World Order have been using techniques like this for a very long time - and they make Derren Brown look like an amateur!

The good news is that once you know about this stuff, it doesn't work on you anymore - so watch the rest of the Derren Brown videos on YouTube and you'll find it a lot easier to spot all the subliminal messages hidden in plain sight!

  • crazations - Great point about knowing about this stuff breaking the "spell"!

An additional thing for me is what happened after I gave away my nice TV 2 years ago. OK, yeah, I thought I would die from withdrawal for the first couple months, lol.

But as time went on, I began to notice that I was becoming less and less psychically influenced by people around me - as if I had disconnected some mental cable from the "herd mind".

I *love* this new feeling. Believe it! :)

  • Hi nameofthepen,

I know exactly what you mean about the TV - I managed to kick the habit about 8 years ago - I didn't give mine away though, I kept it for watching selected downloads on my laptop - I just disconnected from the Broadcasters! - lol

More people need to wake up to all the NLP stuff around us - I've been studying it for about 4 years now, and I see it everywhere - when you know about it, it's like getting a pair of the sunglasses from John Carpenter's film, 'They Live'.

  • i had the very same experience nameofthepen, i would highly recommend everyone give up tv, it's an amazing liberating feeling and the detox is pretty short. at least with the internet there is a vast amount of choices and it is viewer driven, you decide the content so it is harder to be manipulated. but it's all around us and wears a person down over time, i just think with tv it happens very quickly and completely. revolt!

  • watch : bursting bubbles of government deception

    on u tube

we've been fooling ourselves as well

  • when he says to find a logo he draws his fingers down his eyes like tear drops lol. most of the stuff he does it pretty interesting. i bought some books on NLP and tried a few techniques on friends and suprisngly they work. Suggest it for everyone. mega ups at partys ;)

  • btw posted this comment during the video lol then realised the explanation bit.

  • increible jajajaja

  • what????

  • no te conozco y no me conoces... vete a la mierda ya!!! carajo!!!

  • yes they subliminally brainwash us but do not think it is that low tech. the news show has a hidden subliminal message of their own which i wont tell here for reasons. They new what the marketing team would come up with because they had a hidden camera with a mic. they drew that stuff then went back and edited the other footage after the break.

  • this is crazy. and to think that all of us have been "trained" to buy their products just out of ordinary things and our daily lives is amazing. wow...

  • i saw him at start when he was talking he ran his fingers down his eyes making a crying gesture and i instantly spotted it and KNEW it would be 'crying'

  • its just like loading up your short term memory with ideas that are applicable to the task your about ot perform. genius.

  • 1.22 - Derren takes his fingers down his cheeks like tears. As if he were crying.

    I want to be him.

  • "Soooo, its a chain of TAXI JOURNEY stores..."

  • is this...for real? hmm like, don't they see other stuff, which wasn't planted, along the way too? so why did those particular things appear? and how about their own prior knowledge... oh well i guess this is what's called psychological priming :D just learnt about priming in my social psych class...but i still can't believe it has so much influence!!

  • iVE SEEN THIS BEFORE.

  • wow,very creepy

  • yes yes taxi journey.... not taxydermy

  • yeah i noticed that. I've been watching quite a few of his youtube videos today, and as i've been watching them i've been able to pick up on these things easier.
