  • He's an Andyyyyy faaaan ! :D

I definitely see the influence in the tone and playing a lot !

    Digging this music !

  • very nice !!!!

  • I'm trying to decide if I like Guthrie or Marco more. They both make this track their own. Both very well done. Guess it depends on my mood. Great job Marco!

  • what brand of guitar is he playing? ibanez? musicman?

  • he is wearing an andy timmons - carpe diem shirt... i want one!!!

  • everytime i watch this fat italian bloke play the guitar... it sticks a smile on my face 8)

  • great improvising Marco!

  • I'm a little confused by a trend of commenting on youtube lately:

    "Don't compare x to y, as x is different from y."

It would be kind of pointless to compare things that are identical, right? Comparison is for finding similarities and differences alike.

  • @HaIcombIsACissy

    prove it

  • @gnfxnmjxm

again! I'm not gay so why do you keep trying to hit on me? okay, Jeffery Dahlmer, I'm just going to put you on ignore!

  • @gnfxnmjxm

let's talk about credibility! You're just making yourself look stupid 'cause you keep deleting every account you create. Why? LOL

  • @oy9opy9

no thank you I already have a girl friend. Not gay! got children with different women. go grandchildren, am hung like a donkey 'cause it actually got larger with age! but i am only interested in females. I'd let a chick do anything with my dick, but sorry homo I don't care that you're gay, but I only cop feels with females! now buzz off back to your sissy community! LOL

  • Smoooooth playing... This is perfect. Marco knows how to play excellently.

  • 好聽!

  • Great phrasing and tone mate..Congrats!

  • sei un mito

  • what guitar is that?

  • @jacktheguitarman

he sure does do make magic with it doesn't he?

Yeah, he's one of the better ones out there because he actually knows how to put feel into what he's doing.

  • Not as good as Guthrie! But to be fair I can't think of anyone as good as Guthrie. Marco is about as close as you can get!

  • @MrRafataff

You see, that's what I love so much about Marco's playing:

Marco is MARCO & Guthrie is GUTRHIE

so it's really insignificant to try to compare them! Who cares who's better? I like 'em both!

  • Mid boosting instead of scooping = amazing tone :D

    Being Marco Sfogli helps.

  • Marco! Marco! Marco ! Marco!

  • Love the playing and the shirt !

  • AMAZING MARCO !

ONE OF THE VERY BEST GUITARRISTS IN THE WORLD.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a smoother sounding guitarist.

    I am truly a fan of Marco's.

Man, I'd love the chance to do a couple of numbers with the man or do something vocal with him on guitar!

  • @guitarttimman Guthrie Govan...

  • @VIIZEROIIV

    Guthrie has a different style!

I go by the style as opposed to who's the most technical.

    Yeah, he's good to though!

  • @guitarttimman Saying "Smoother Sounding Guitarist" sounds like you're talking about technicality, to me. Oh well. Opinions are opinions.

  • @VIIZEROIIV

No I don't mean so-called "technically." I've seen musicians that were way more technical than another, but still not like them. I don't base what I like on technical ability alone! I go by style and creativity and that's why Jimmy Page is still my favorite Rock guitarist! I've never heard anyone who can match his "style" of playing, and being able to duplicate someone doesn't mean you're as good as that person. Jimmy created all that great stuff. But I guess you don't understand!

  • @VIIZEROIIV

And furthermore, Marco is smoother than a lot of guys out there because he has such a great style.

Sure, he's technically skilled too. But, I've seen guys who could play even more technically than him, not many grant you, but a few, and I still don't like them as much as I do him. Marco has an awesome "style" too and he's very creative!

  • Great playing man!

  • very classy style......loved it! That's what I have been trying to do for years

  • dove posso trovare la base?

  • I like his T-shirt! Its nice and humble gesture, that he pays respect to his inspirations:-)

  • How do you get such a smooth tone, it's amazing.

  • @creation23 Lots of mids and lots of practice haha

  • @amosschorr93 finally someone who knows what they are talking about and expresses it clearly and intelligently:)

  • watch?v=s9ZcEXRoVgs&feature=feedlik

  • .......BIIIIIIIIG!!!!!!!! this is the most important performance on youtube o this backing track....love the tone (s)....Marco can use different sounds, give the right breath to the notes and keep it ,technically and musically speaking, at a very high level of musicianship....

    Well done Marco!

  • Those "standards" are simply what makes a well rounded guitarist. How can one be a skilled guitar player without creative or compositional ability? And like i said, I think those are all great players (except MAB), but i don't think any of them are at the overall level of Per and the other guys. I could go through and break down why each guy isn't, but no one would care. It's mostly subjective anyway. Personally, i've never been a fan of Becker.

  • @amosschorr93 When did I ever say i was talking about speed, or purely technical skill? To be skilled means to have good technique, expression, tone, phrasing, improvisation...all of that. Composing is a part of it as well. Which is why the only one I would put up there with Guthrie and Marco out of those you listed is Per Nilsson. But seeing as I never brought up speed in the first place, I don't know why you made that post.

  • No worries! Marco's got it covered! (thumbs way up)

  • Hey this guy, of course, is phenomenal. Also, check out Tim Halcomb's rocking version of One Last Breath!

    IT IS AWESOME!!!!! :-)

  • Rape eyes at 0:05. Haha, you really did rape us with that sexy ass playing.

  • I find Marco's rendition more soulful than Gutherie's and the switch to the Start tone is very cool indeed!

  • I love both Marco's and Guthrie's improvisations over this track, the two of them are easily the best I've heard. But in my opinion |I think Guthrie's is just that bit better. The reason I say this is because Guthrie's improv sounds like a composition, whereas Marco's sounds conceivably more possible to make up on the spot. How Guthrie came up with his version off the cuff is just beyond me, the man has music pouring out of every pour on his body.

  • anybody know the chords he's playing over? sounds like 1-4-5 with all minor 7ths

  • Now like Gutherie this guy is listening and what a difference

  • Sexy as fuck!

  • The best part was 0:01-1:36

  • I prefer Marco's take over Guthrie's, his lines just have more impact on this track. Most of the time, I would take Guthrie, but Marco does the jazzier stuff better i think, while Guthrie is a bit more rooted in the bluesy and early british rock stuff. Marco also plays great on heavier rock stuff (like James Labrie's albums).

  • Just worked out why I think marcos take on this the best, he seems the most relaxed out of everyone who plays over this track, he plays loads of notes but doesent seem to be in a hurry!

  • I love how marco can play so many styles, yet its not sterile in anyway, its all so natural and smooth,

  • I noticed a bit of Vinnie Moore at 0.47 :D

  • Don't compare Guthrie to Marco, enjoy both as they are both different. Guthrie is the out of the box thinker who playing will stun you into submission with its pure awesomeness, but Marco is the critical thinker who always plays tonally beautiful notes while retaining equal awesomeness.

  • @SleepyGypsy86 thank you! haters gonna hate....but they both gods, equally respectable and not comparable by any means

  • @SleepyGypsy86 There's no harm in comparing them stylistically. It's when you start comparing them skill-wise that it becomes pointless. At their level, it's not about who's better, just who you prefer. There's maybe like 5 other guys I know of who are even at their level, though.

  • @SleepyGypsy86 And he like Andy Timmons, which doesn't hurt.

  • @SleepyGypsy86 very true! don't isolate ourselves for just one artist. Listen to what you think is good. You're right! enjoy both.

  • @SleepyGypsy86 I prefer Marco's interpretation because he leaves some space and thus it breaths harmonically.

  • @SleepyGypsy86 I agree with you, but think this. What's the meaning on comparing equal things? To compare you need different things. You can compare them, they played the same backing so it's easier now. I love Guthrie but I prefer Marco on this one

  • He is only 31...!!!Fucking amazing player!!!One of my favorites!!!

  • @dimitrisnassios Yeah, hard to believe. He plays beyond his years, that's for sure.

  • Does anyone know how old this monster is? He looks older, but I heard hes' not very old at all... If someone knows, its very curious to me...

  • 1:11 , very andy timmons

  • why.. is that troll tim halcomb in the related videos?

OTTIMA GRINTA!!!

  • caro marco sei nato fortunato

  • Such a smooth tone and amazing playing. I think I have had this vid on my favourites for 2 years or something, still love it now!

  • Love the expression at the end! :)

  • is that an ear-extacy 2 shirt?!?!!?!?

  • at first I tought this was going to be boring to watch, but at the 3 seconds of watching, I said "omg this guy plays awesome"

Very nice, vey well played, very everything. Cheers.

  • Andy Timmons shirt haha ;) both amazing guitarists!

  • For all of you that talk shit about this. How about you go make a video of you playing over this backtrack, then we'll talk.

  • AWESOME IT'S NOT A TRUE WORD FOR WHAT I SEE HERE...GREAT JOB MARCO!

  • The licks from 1:05 to 1:13 are so badass, Marco is giving his guitar a look that says...YOUR MY BITCH!

  • i frikin love this style, can anyone tell my what style it is? like jazz rock fusion something like that?

  • wow beautifull!!! :))

  • Not just pretty - BEAUTIFUL

  • Your tone is glorious. Fucking incredible job, man!

  • Brilliant!

  • dude that is killer!!! the BEST lonestar example i have heard BY FAR!

  • @zachsara7 ANDY TIMMONS.

  • @doubleuarex Yes, other than Andy's.

  • @zachsara7 isn't is 'zak without a c'? ;)

  • @doubleuarex Isn't is? What is that supposed to mean? I don't understand you or what your trying to say.

  • @zachsara7 it's a ben folds song, 'zak and sara'

  • @glong661 do you have any clue what i was even talking about? hahaha. It's the MESA BOOGIE LONESTAR he is playing through. and, if i remember correctly, i didn't ask you to chime in on my post. please, only comment on things you understand. now go google mesa boogie lonestar and become semi-informed so you can actually have a legitimate post. zach would be spelled zak when someone like yourself has a tough time spelling 4 or more words. thanks. "glongg661"

  • I think he tried to emulate him a bit. Also I noticed some Petrucci reminiscense here and there (there's a clearly a classic Petrucci lick, that one with a pedal note).

Not really critiquicing the guy, he plays great & clean. Just that, IMO the solo lacks the power and the emotion that Guthrie put out there. Guthrie's solo is just perfect and unique. I'm just telling that we've more than enough Loomis and Petruccis clones out there and new voices like Guthrie's are greatly appreciated.

  • @iorch82 Your exactly right about that!

  • PLEASE NAME SCALE ? :-)

  • Not really impresive after watching to Govan's one.

    Anyway the guy sounds good.

  • @iorch82 Well maybe. Two very different styles thought...

  • Comment removed

  • @iorch82 ha, well after watching Guthrie nothing really impresses you quite as much :) Marco's solo here is still killer IMO.

  • Bravissimo Marco!

  • amazing .... groso

  • is he playing here? look at :40 and i dunno if it matches up...i mean i know its him playing, he may just have played with the camera to get it on youtube...just interesting how well he can sync up to something he improved =-) one of the greatest alive!!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful tone.

  • I am a huge fan of Marco's. With everything he plays, he puts so much feel and intensity to it. I would love to see him perform live.

  • I'm in love with his tone

  • that an Andy Timmons signature?

  • @MrClaptonstrat nope, that's his signature guitar, it's called Rash

  • @MrClaptonstrat nope! its marco's own signature made by a Italian company called Rash Guitars. its on their website

  • @racerx3065 Oh, this look too much with the Andy Timmons signature, and the Rash MS don't have floyds?

  • Beautiful, Awesome Feel !!

  • Ear Xtasy, killer player and cd. You are a superb player man.

  • damn nice soloing bro

  • now this is how i want to play!

  • good tone, suits the phrasing a lot.

  • you are my hero

  • Such a smooth playing! I luv the Andy Timmons T-shirt and the Mesa Amp in the background:)) Great sound!

  • damn son, you killin this track like guthrie, great style, great licks, great video definitely worth a 5

  • 0:26 thief!! :D

  • @oscarsstuff I noticed it too haha!

  • @oscarsstuff ha ha. Totally Guthrie.

  • @tastefulphrasing no... totally carlton. god you people.

  • @ShredFever92 What are you talking about? We were talking about that specific lick. Guthrie uses the same one in his version.

  • @tastefulphrasing yeah its from a larry carlton song.

  • @oscarsstuff Guthries phrasing!!! hahaha... spot on man...

  • @Timmonsec no, larry carlton's phrasing. most of the licks are larry carlton things. listen to larry.

  • @oscarsstuff He definitely didn´t mean to steal Guthrie´s lick and get away with it ´cause it´s too obvious, he just put it in his solo ´cause it is awesome and I think he even showed Guthrie a respect by using some of his style.

  • @Only4Funk I wasn't serious of course, i think he used it as a quote, Guthrie does that a lot with for example, melodies from soundtracks.

  • @Only4Funk steal guthrie's lick? lol its larry carlton's lick.

  • @ShredFever92 Of course it is, but people were accusing Marco for stealing Guthrie not Larry ´cause it is played on the same place over the same backing, so I was trying to defend him.

  • @oscarsstuff haha i notices that before, he also stole another little lick around 44-45

  • @oscarsstuff haha and also 1:02-1:03

  • @oscarsstuff who did he steal from?

  • @aveross from guthrie :)

  • trippo jo, cosi sanno suonare milioni di chitarristi...

    ma svegliati!!!!! ;)

  • larry carlton would be proud

  • nice.

  • I fuckin love the part at 00:15!

  • Grandissimo Marco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful,,,so much Feel !!

  • I really enjoyed listening to this wonderful player. thank you for posting this.

  • this guy is amazing...

  • im so sick of not knowing what gear he uses im a huge fan and dont even knowe the rig nobody does and he never shows it in clear sight

  • No FUC*King words.....

  • this guy is a monster... sick =) !

  • awesome, also see this man called "MArcel JARAmillo"...

  • dang! an andy timmons awesomeness to match the andy timmons shirt! NICE MAN!

1:10 - 1:11 Totally fallen in love with that interval of a semitone between D and Eb.

  • Excellent!!

  • Marco, You have now made me have to learn this. If I die of malnutrition or lack of sleep because of trying to learn this I blame you. ><"

  • @creation23

marco don't want you to die, but you'll never reach his level! :-)

  • @GuitarRoast Worth trying to :)

  • @creation23

    yep

  • Thumps up if you tried playing over this track yourself... but it kinda sucked.

  • you rock nam!!

  • Marco is one of the greatest guitarists in history!

  • @GuitarRoast Unlike you Halcomb you flaming faggot ...you're the worst in history ...fucking dreadful out of tune, time ..no melody or feel. Fucking ...the worst ever!

  • @guitarttimmanIsShit

    who's halcomb? :-)

  • witch effect do you use with the lonestar please ? your lead sound is perfect !

  • This dude has some KILLER PHRASING!!

  • D=................. T^T......................

  • Its shit like this that makes me want to throw my fuckin guitar at a baby just for the shear frustration of me not being able to do this.

  • @stratspider230 This is the best thing I have ever read...

Not because you want to injure a baby, or that your not as good as Marco...but because it's fuckin hilarious...

  • u never make mistakes..in live too..i really r a legend
