its because the nazies had lack of air for hours. revy and rock had lack of air for only a couple of minutes.thats why revy said that if they stay down there to long with the smell and lack of air it would fuck up there lungs.

It's often that this happends in old submarines under water. When they go down, they manitain the oxygene untill it's used up. And there is oxygene in water (bubbles from the see) They can burst and maintain the oxygene levels in old submarines. So thats how their able to breath inside it.
