They were great at the Rollright fest' in Oxford back in 1986. They had some wacked out 9 year old kid on the drums!! He, and them, were amazing. The little toot of opium was rather interesting too! : )

ever heard of Melting Euphoria. They opened for Ozric Tentacles in San Francisco in about 1999. They are similar to Ozric and Hawkwind. Unfortunately they only have two songs on the youtube. They are disbanded now.

I've noticed I prefer most of their live stuff over studio. Case and point being "The Throbbe" The Pongmaster's ball version is 20x better than the studio versions. I didn't like the studio versions at all, but the live version's amazing.

Re techno music and lack of certain types of energy, just saw them in Seattle, and my *only* disappointment was the heavy use of synthesized (minimalist?) rhythms. This said, the bass, drums, and guitar in this band are phenomenal.

What a great and eclectic band!

I used to listen to them a lot in the early 90's and have just rediscovered them through youtube. Their combination of tight drumming, synched electronic instruments and live improvisation is very inspirational to see. The flute playing is a nice touch. The strings are great too!!!

since were all comparing ed and steve vai here... i think its impossible for anyone to be like ed, he has the craziest phrasing ive ever heard. They both have very similar tone though, not only because of thier gear but thier passion aswell. Ed also uses very similar tremolo techniques (holistically speaking of course :0)
