Yeah, it is the perfect size and also the dual paddle packers are far more efficient than the dual link pendulum packer on the Single pass. I have seen this truck quite often and the hopper has never clogged up or gotten full and the driver has to wait to pack.

I agree MJfan but this truck from memory of another comment from someone said that the MJE DART with Mono Valve has had the mono valve removed. due to the fact that retards that fix the trucks couldn't be botherd to fix the malfuntioning monovalve. so it just chops out the recycling bins for the singalpass trucks.if you wish to prove me wrong (PLEASE DO), please get an in cab hopper cam vid or vid of the actual hopper. plus any other Brissy truck hoppers if possible.

Yeah, I have seen this truck in operation before with the Monovalve working properly back in Christmas 2006 and 2007, however in 2008 I saw it a few times only collecting garbage bins and leaving the recycling bins. I saw it empty some rubbish bins at the train station in 2008 and the Monovalve kept moving, on one bin it was closed and in the other it was open to the top compartment.

If you are correct (which with Brisbane's trucks you are likely) I agree that the monovalve is not working properly which is a real shame, because these DART's were way faster than the Superior Pak Single Pass's, I think the hopper size and compactor is what makes the difference in that with a paddle packer the body compartment is always open, with the pendulum packer the packer goes into the body and closes of the opening preventing rubbish from falling in.

The paddle is just more efficient in packing and clearing the hopper. But because Brisbane City is such a huge council and there are so many trucks, I don't believe the trucks are able to have the best possible maintenance. The trucks start at 5:00am in the morning and finish at 5:00pm and operate 5 days a week so it is not easy to find time for proper servicing of the compactor body. The council is also short on trucks and they have been buying second hand MJ's and CS SL's for routes.

Yeah Deffinitly, the drivers must hate the long hours, and it's not surprising considring the poor maintainence.

These trucks are like everything and it proves that things need to be maintained properly!! You see the drivers of the Single Pass trucks get fed up with how long it takes for the top compartment to pack so they just empty the recycling into the garbage because its just so much faster, however most of the time they do the right thing, however they do get fed up with the top compartment.

But I will tell you this, sadly the Brisbane City trucks are not as well looked after as other councils trucks because I dont think that they have the time to, but I dont believe that that is a good reason. However hopefully the 107 new trucks that are due to be arriving in the middle of this year will be better maintained and looked after.

That'll be interesting nice new SHINEY trucks, obviously Iveco ACCO cab chassie's and probaly superior pak bodies,any idea whether they'll use new singal pass bodies or just refuse & recycler bodies.

Yeah, some Sita/Brisbane City new ACCO/Pappas RL's and ACCO/Pegasus FL's are roaming around Brisbane. I was talking to a friend of mine from school and his dad works for Volvo in Wacol and his dad was in charge of promoting the Volvo trucks to Brisbane City as a competitor to the ACCO, however I believe based on what I have seen they will be new ACCO's with most likely 29m Superior Pak Raptor bodies. We are going back to a 2 truck collection because it is faster collecting and more efficient.

I read an arcicle and it confirmed with me what I already thought about going back to a 2 truck system. The articel said that the 2 trucks were faster and more efficient. But the main reason was that the major transfer stations are in the outher suburbs of Brisbane and the MRF is near the Port of Brisbane know where near the transfer stations. This will save time in that the single pass trucks lost.

valve was working properaly when it change from either compartment you saw it just like on the singal pass trucks. plus did you ever see the top comparment overfull?

Well the monovalve worked properly up until 2008, then I don't think, the driver had much control over it, it seemed to have a mind of its own, it would randomly open and close during bin collection, I don't think the driver was doing that. The monovalve should work just like the Single Pass trucks, but it doesn't any more. I have never seen the DART top compartment overfull, it seemed to clear much better than the Single Pass hopper.

How do you mean, the only time the garbo's drive on the 'wrong' side of the truck is when they are emptying bins! When they are finised they drive on the right side of the truck!

Thanks Mitch!! Yep, spot on, its an MKIV, yeah it does look pretty good, bettehr than the Single Pass's I reckon! The DART was also faster than the Single Pass, even though he was only collecting the recycling. Usually on the Single Pass's, the driver would have to wait for the hopper to clear, I hope that I can get him emptying the rubbish and recycling bins one day, I also hope that he now will hopefully do my area permanantly!

Its not a Raptor, didn't you see the title, its an MJ DART. Well there has been many problems with single pass collection, its slow, and the trucks don't pack very well. I think that they were trying out a 2 truck collection. The Single Pass came and emptyed the rubbish bins 10 minutes later, I have to upload the rest of the vids yet.

Yeah it is a split truck, but it has been seen before, if you search my videos for 'MJE DART' it will come up with vids of the MKIII DART's that my grandad use to have. Originally the trucks are designed to empty split bins, but this truck has an optional monovalve which allows for 2 bin collection, just like the Single Pass's.

Well this is made by MJ, it is used for split bin collection, but this DART is fitted with the optional monovalve which allows it to be used for rubbish and recycling collection, just like the Superior Pak Single Pass's. The Raptors are not used for recycling collection. Brisbane city has 2 or 3 of these MJ DART's, and about 3 MJ Refuse ASL's.

Yeah, these are my favourite trucks, I am getting sick and tired of the Superior Pak's, they are slow, and not entertaining, with the MJ's and CS trucks, the arms are faster, and they flip more lids. I have 2 more vids of this truck, but I am hoping to get more vids of it as well, hopefully he will come and collect the recycables next fortnight!

Yeah, the MJ's all do that, most of the time!! But in Australia, ther is no such thing as a zero swing out arm, it isn't practical for Australia, we don't have alley ways.

Yeah, I really like the Amreps, but not the Pendpacs, the arm is slower that a ordinary arm. But I wouldn't ever want to have zero swing out arms on the trucks, that would be horrible, because I love it how the arms swing out and flip the lids, its an Aussie icon mate!! But I can see what you mean, but they just aren't for Australia. But the good thing with an ordinary arm is that you are getting that more reach because the arm swings out, on a zero swing arm you are loosing that reach.

great vid. what type of camera do you use because i have a 6 mega pixl digital camera and all of my videos are distorted.

I use a Canon PowerShot A430, which is 4 megapixels. I noticed that when I use my 6 and 8 megapixel cameras, the video's are kind of distorted, it tends to happen to higher megapixel cameras. My suggestion is to use lower megapixel cameras like a 4 or 5 megapixel, this will hopefully stop the distortion.

Thanks Steve! It is because our DART's are fitted with monovalves. This means that they can empty recycling and rubbish bins just like a Superior Pak Single Pass, we don't have split bins. Only the DART's with no monovalve have the rollers and steel tooth in the arm to help stop the arm from shaking when it reaches the top. The steel tooth therefore, helps to keep the arm steady and help the contents end up in the right compartments.
