The yankees absolutely did not need a new stadium. It was in fine condition, and was really a great place to go to. Even the drunk fans treated the place (not so much the other people) with respcet. Unlike Shea, which was basically a land fill for the drunk fans.

I love how people say "it looks like the old stadium" ITS SUPPOSED TO. THATS THE POINT. ITS A YANKEE STADIUM REPLICA WITH NEW AMENITIES. the Mets obviously didnt replicate shea because it was a dump and it had no history. the yankees replicated both the old 1923 stadium and the renovated 1975 stadium in this new park. if you look at actual pictures of it its the most hi-tech and advanced stadium in america and the most beautiful park in baseball.
