my coach ALWAYS yells at me for being on the ground basically the whole time the other team is shooting, its not my fault, its natural, and every singe game< i stack at least 5 people.
are those cranbarry pads? if they are, we just gave ours to mod squad, cuz they suck, the pads lol. they brake so easily. we just got ours last year, and we already have duct tape and all that crap on them.
What a bunch of jealous losers you people are. She happened to have the best stats in her league and set a school record of most shutouts. This was a practice video for a prestigious college team and by the way, she made it!! The girl who shot on her is an ice hockey player as well and has a shot that would send you on your ass!! Also, the goalie was just recovering from ACL surgery so her pain going down was legit...None of you could probably score on her if you tried!!! Let's see your videos!!
Congrats for her making it to college, what school she play for. I play rep ice hockey and field hockey I could stop it. I give her a bit more respect going down but seriously you gotta just suck it up. Hopefully her ACL was fully recovered but it's her fault for coming back and not being able to play on after getting hit in the knee.
are you nuts with these gloves??? i once played with such gloves in the 8-10 age catogery and that s*cked. if i try to wear them now days i will have a han-injury in no time
My provincial team goalie partner refuses to wear arm pads and during our first practice ever for our provincial team she got a shot right on her elbow and had a bruise the size of two balls on your elbow.
I refuse to play WITHOUT arm pads, I wear ice hockey chest pads, so much more protective and it gives you the confidence that the ball won't hurt you, but in the end it's up to the goalie to decide. I just support wearing arm pads.
It's a good idea. There are some good chest protectors with full length sleeves. The only regret I have in wearing one of those is it gets soo hot during the summer...do you know any good places to buy jerseys? Mine's getting too small to cover my chest protector and it's kinda awkward.
I like to wear an underarmour shirt underneath the ones for hot weather because it stops any rubbing against the pads and it helps in the hot heat. When I was up in Kelowna for BC Summer Games it was the middle of the summer and was boiling hot, I put a little wash cloth soaked in ice water in the back of my neck guard and it helped cool me down so much.
For jerseys you can just buy any hockey jersey that's at least an XL, get the cheap jerseys that are really thin and full of holes.
Ever played with a full-length sleeve chest protector on turf when it was over 100? Thought I was gonna die...people kept pouring ice cold water on my head in between games.
I use full ice hockey goalie chest pad, I pour ice cold water down my chest pad, front and back, down my leg pads and the towel around my neck. My body had kinda learnt not to feel heat or cold anymore, I've trained it to not effect me.
I play ice hockey and ringette, kinda like ice hockey, as goalie so I already have the chest protector and it's one of the highest end ones you can get. I feel really well protected in it so when I slide or go to throw my body in the way of the ball I'm not scared of it hitting me where there's no padding, my back is pretty much completely covered, so I'm really confident in my pads that I'll throw any part of my body in the way of a ball or player.
Lame she collapsed after she got hit in the knee. I got a shot on my thigh from a national player and I didn't collapse I just kept on playing, I'm only 14 years old.
And...how many games have you played in? A one-on-one with goalie versus field player, a goalie either better have wicked fast feet or a good slide-tackle. That's considered going down, idiot.
I've played two years on a Tier 1 team, we won the championships in strokes, and this is my second year on my regional team and I made my provincial team the first year I tried.
Going down works for both, I personally say sliding and diving and when I say down I mostly mean as going down being injured.
Ever considered the speed of the shots? I got slammed in the knee off a penalty stroke and couldn't put weight on it for most of the practice afterward. If you're fourteen, ever consider that your national player was pulling his/her shots? They do have something known as mercy...
She's the one that said you're a provincial team you have to be able to take these shots. The tournament we were preparing for was a U16 tournament, we're U14, and there were a few players on the BC U16 team that are on the National team and we had to be able to stop their shots.
Our coaches know that we want to play for Canada at some point and the goalie for Canada that just retired at age 35 started playing for Canada when she was 15.
Our coaches showed no mercy and we didn't want any.
Sorry...I've just been reading so many comments about people thinking they can do better...ya know? What tournament were you going for? I just got picked up for a national tournament in California, and I'm really nervous. I played varsity goalie as a freshman, and I'm a sophomore this year.
No that`s okay, my original comment wasn`t written exactly how I wanted. I'm in grade nine, so second year of high school for me. I played for the U14 Team BC Blue and we were preparing for the Field Hockey BC U16 Invitational, competing against Ontario, Alberta, U16 BC and the other U14 BC.
Nice. I've only played in one other team, a U16 team. I'm at the weird cutoff where you can only play on the U16 team once before you need to play U19. It sucks.
I`m the only goalie at my school so I was on the Senior team, but our school doesn`t have a lot of players so we ended up not even having a junior team and just putting all the players on the senior team and telling some they won`t play much.
What tournie in Cali are you going to? There`s a tournament that I was hoping to go to but I don`t have a team to go down with and it`d be kinda hard to find a team in the US that doesn`t have a goalie and will take one from Canada.
I don't know the full name, but most people just call it Festival. It's in Palm Springs, held over Thanksgiving...my mom doesn't appreciate the dates.
That'd be awesome, I kinda wish I can't go next year because I have ice hockey. I really want to make this really high level ice hockey team next year and it'd take up all my time.
No, both my coaches were national team players, they're both 19, and have been training with the team for a couple years. One got a scholarship to Syracuse Division 1 and the other one got a scholarship to University of Alberta, except both are coming back to University of British Columbia so they can train full time with the Canadian team since it's based here in Vancouver the training.

yep of course, cos this isnt practice or anything.
