Never met Willie but he was my cousin on my grandmother's side (she was from Hopeman). Never met him but still have loads of relatives there (More's).
Spook Records in Lossiemouth has aquired the rights to Willie Sutherland's music and is currently re-releasing his back catalogue. Everything from his days with the renegades and his albums and singles with Frank Coutts will be available. There is now a website dedicated to Willie and Frank at willieandfrank.spookrecords.co.uk
Here you can buy and download music and CDs including some very rare and unreleased live tracks.
I could'nt believe it when i found willie on you tube tonight.i have been looking for willie and frankie on various sources for a while now.it is great to hear his voice again .we used to go and see willie at the seafield inn (the tartan) at Portknockie.we had some great nights there.eileen was one of our favourites which i can'nt find now.thanks for taking him back for everybody to enjoy.Tommy
@Danny9505 Well danny i remember willie fine for a short time i drove him around and i took him to portknockie a few times that was away back in the late 60s .On these performances his guitarist was rondy horne . The ironic thing is that i am now with a portknockie quinne now and a fine quinne she is ,all the best . Davie.
We did a tribute night to Frankie and Willie in the Bishopmill hall, where they both started their singing / guitar playing, we were asked and have done another show in Burghead and one in Hopeman, we will probably do another two possibly Forres and finally in Elgin again.
I do not know how my letter was removed. I just wanted to say that i used to serve willie with his beloved capstan i had the pleasure to drive him around for a few weeks when frankie had to take time off . rondy horne filled in for frankie .i used to go to the tower on a wed night he was always on there in the late 60s .I am pleased to say we had him play at the Red Craig not long before he died he was a caracter thats for sure he will never be forgoten by our age group anyway.
a tear to my eye. Had the pleasure of knowing Willie and Frankie. Many a time Willie sang to me personally after buying his Capstan Full Strenghth and Swan Vesta and then going off on his walk to Inverugie, Hopeman.
Delighted to see Willie and Frankie on you tube.. I never had the honour of meeting Willie (he died before i was born) but my late father in his early teens used to be a rado for them & I had the honour of being a close friedn to Frankie before his death too.. now all 3 lads are back together - God Be with you all x

I guess the best guy in our area to give you any advice on the instrument would be Rondy Horne he lives in Elgin and was Frankies stand in many times
