The opening section is there to give examples of how the Other Side is crossing over due to the House growing weak. One of those examples, Tom, ties into the events on the reservation that relate to Stormy's journey.
For what it's worth, I didn't find this book particularly frightening or creepy. I thought the construction was pretty clever, particularly once they were in the house where there was story told in turns by the characters.
Little is interesting, I've read his book Dominion and to be honest I had to put it down 4 or 5 times due to his graphic writing style, it grows on you after awhile and it makes you question your own sanity at times. LOL. I've just ordered this one based on the review and checked amazon so it looks quite good. Thanks for these excellent reviews you're definitely keeping these authors in business. I like the cross section of books you choose, it makes your channel unique.
