This grappling looks dangerous back in most of the locks and take downs you are giving up your back to your opponent. Once your opponent has your back and is able to place his legs around your torso (know as "hooks" in BJJ) it is very difficult to get him off and you are vulnerable to a rnc.
Great upload! It's about time everyone knows Kung-Fu had different and carrying effective levels of ground defense, grappling, submission, wrestling, and how to get unstuck while in a tight spot.
@MaharlikaAWA Sound focus is used to throw off an attacker, and disorient said attacker. Sound focus is a very basic technique taught early on in most defensive arts. It's believed it allows for a stronger more fluid strike, which is partly true but also based off the increased breathing (inhaling and exhaling) as you connect with target and follow through.
@MADHater01 Why dont more Kung Fu schools teach this stuff arund the world? No one knows much about it or can even do anything. I would like to see a Kung Fu grappler vs a BJJ and see what happens.
@MaharlikaAWA Agreed. The way we were taught in our defensive art of 'kung-fu' was: power fighting, ground and pound, and ground defense. After all? 90% of fights end up on the ground and kung-fu is not limited to fancy movements but very practical and devastating applications. I'd love to fight any MMA fighter but I am not playing by the rules, there rules and because of that. True practitioners like us are barred from fighting MMA:UFC tournament fights.. HAH! What a joke.. :\
@MADHater01 Well nobody really wants to do a death match or anything...why not just spar MMA with their limited rules? They dont have THAT many. Or just do grappling tournaments and see how it works.
@MaharlikaAWA That's not how i was trained. I was trained to go big or go home and there is no in between. I have a friend, he is MMA fighter, and we 'sparred' a little blood doesn't hurt no body. But, he couldn't believe my skill level only based off a defensive art.. Well, and my own unique 'practical' applications! :)
@MADHater01 Ya I know all that. but you cant seriously have a death match dude and ripping a guys balls off or raking a guys eyes is not practical for training. Obviously MMA allows the most realistic fighting and most limited rules while still protecting the martial artists safety. Its fun. And live sparring is the besy way to get the feel of combat situations. So why not try a BJJ guy out and do grappling vs grappling. it will only help your skills. But if you want a duel then try it out.
@MADHater01 I mean if you want to duel or try out your art realistically and can find a guy who is okay with groins hots grabs, eye pokes etc be my guest...film it too. I wanna see it. I dont doubt kung fu grappling works, it looks cool to me. I just think you shouldnt use "go all out or nothing" as an excuse not to spar other people for fun at least and a workout.
you are a very analytical martial artist I can tell, Bear in mind two things: these techniques are hundreds of years old; second, most chinese arts especially the animal systems include four aspects -kick (ti) punch (da) throw (shuai) and seizing and grappling (na). It is hard to find instructors who know all these aspects for their respective system, mostly because they were subject to what their instructor focused on, and so on. that's the problem with the vastness of Chinese martial arts.
yea weird how chinese ma's specialized so much and relating to shaolin and the animals.....they had systems for just about every kind of animal or behavioral problem(drunken boxing) lol. I like this stuff as far as rolling on top of someone while striking them or getting an ankle or arm lock. Being on top might be smart for a place that is graveled.
@bahamianshaolin I think that's the reason CMA martial arts stress that you learn old styles first before tackling the new styles and why new styles should keep the same messages as the old styles. Techniques get lost over time
@FoieGras you are right. Also, tradition, and Martial Art Morality are lost. I love MMA, but many MMA camps are destroying it by focusing on creating fighters and not Artists.
@bahamianshaolin Maybe thats because MMA is a sport and business with money involved, people pay to see good fight. so thats there main focus. If you want ART try more traditional schools.
@bahamianshaolin thats why it is better to be well versed in all rather than one ive trained in savate french street fighting tae kwon do korean muaythai thailand and a little ninjitzu/judo as you know judo is the lesser but more dominant prctice of ninjitzu ninjitzu employs the use of blades and throwing weapons judo took out the heavy lifting judo means gentle wind but because it involves throwing more so than dirct submission blows it isnt as gentle as ppl would think
@B1itZKr3iGC4 Judo was the art of the samurai, not the ninja. In addition, you can't even spell ninjutsu. Don't talk about arts you have no experience in, it is disrespectful to those who do. You clearly have no knowledge of the Jinenkan, its history, theology, or its applications.
@MAYH3M0NE no ninjitzu was the art of the ninja nice job misspelling ninjitzu and spelling it ninjutzu but nice try asshole considering the first strike is often where a counter is performed these forms are nearly extinct so instead of bitching abot what you know perhaps you should take your own advice
@MAYH3M0NE no wait i take it back i did misspell it but what i wont take back is the fact that i didnt learn the names of ninjutzu i learn the techniques i learn both the weak and strong katas the three substances and how to throw daggers not shurikens i have limits yes but when it comes to a blade i doubt you would win second the ability to speak doesnt make you intelligent i sure as hell dont spend 6 hours a day so i can insult ppl about their japanese so fuck off and go play naruto and leave
@B1itZKr3iGC4 so dont talk down to me if you cant even argue in a relevant manner i took 4 different art forms from 4 different nations on 3 continents i dont need some sniveling smartass to attack me on a comment 4months old about an old mandarin art form... second if i can kill you with a sword or defend myself accordingly what name i misspell doesnt matter on the field is where it matters the fouette or whip kick in the savate form weapon disarms like the ute gatame from ninjutzu
@B1itZKr3iGC4 the jumping knee the ankle strike the tornado and hurricane kicks i didnt study tae kwon do muai thai ninjutzu and savate to be sneezed on by a moron who thinks hes smart because he puts dots at the ends of his sentences you pious self-centered egotistical baffoon
@MAYH3M0NE third ninjutzu is the art of espionage and assassination ninjas were assassins asshole i think you should stick to old mandarin art forms and leave the japanese arts to a more experienced person
this stuff is cooler than the shaolin imo. The only thing i dont like about some of the chinese systems is that they seem to put more emphasis on taking down the person or sweeping/tripping them without hitting them first. Strikes are always a good setup for a takedown or sub. Pain is a good distraction
