been playen bass for about 3 years off and on.. just now started learning slap bass.. any tips? what kind of bass do you play? im wanting a long neck Schecter 5 string bass. do you know any decent end basses like that that are $300 or so? p.s. youre an epic bassist, my friend

@kododragon I play a musicman. its got a good all round sound, which is good for lots of stuff I do. My advice would be to go to a music stroe, and try as many basses as you can. We're all completely different, and my favourite bass might not be yours :) If you want some good tips about slap and pop, slapping precision, go to my blog learnbass . net. Theres loads of stuff there that should help!

I tried to slap on my ibanez gsr180 but the slap sound more like a really scratched mute.The slap here sounds so smooth.And you can actually hear the note.When I slap a string i can barelly hear the note.What am I doing wrong?Is the Ibanez not so good for slapping?I mean,I searched the internet and saw every video that taught you how to slap.Even the one flea did.But it just wont sound good. . ..

@andu9tim I owned/own an ibanez gsr200. I had the same problem. Yet when i got my ibanez ATK (I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-end bass at an affordable price) slapping all of a sudden became so much easier, so did tapping. That's the magic of professional instruments. My gsr200 just sits on my wall now until the day I decide to sell it or de-fret it.

Why do you shift down to play the C third fret A string? I would probably try to grab with my pinky 8th fret on the E. cool riff though.

i think its cuz the main focus of the exercise is to practice slapping different strings, so slapping the E again doesnt really help you exercise it or get better

this is great idea and great exercise. just simple advice for your videos. dont do that slow motion thing. it gets kinda useless coz u show all the notes slowly afterwards. and we always can play it again and again and again so no need for repeating the same with slow mo :) good job ;) keep it up :)
