...something just clicked with me when Hugh and Rachel were talking about Darren pushing them. All of a sudden, I thought of Black Swan and how much Nina was being pushed and how much she was striving towards perfection. That's when it hit me, Black Swan is in a way a reflection of Darren Aronofsky's style. He is one of the greatest directors of our time and I feel proud to have discovered his work.
I think that these rings are supposed to be the annual rings of trees. He is life and it shows how old he/life already is. I liked the movie. It was just amazing. The first movie where I ever cried. I cried like a little baby that was born or like an old man who couldn´t accept that his time is over. Like it has been said in the movie. We pass out the same way we are born into the world. We cry.
Thank you for all your clips about The fountain!!
It is my favourite film too. It is in it´s own level. I too find it hard to watch because it is so...real and true, can´t think of any other words. It is impossible just to watch while doing something else, it just draws you in and demands all of your mind and thoughts. I think about it a lot. The scenes which takes place in the 17th century are the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen on film. Rachel and Hugh are perfect for their parts.
@ilovepanslabyrinth yeah i felt dispare for days after i watched this...requiem for a dream was worse...they are great films, but their solemness throughout the entire film gets depressing
I agree, thank you kindly for this (and part 2). "The Fountain" is my personal favorite movie. It is overwhelming and hard to watch sometimes. I never put it in for backround filler, its always a viewing in depth, the movie. The graphic novel (more like an art book) is amazing. I would love a minature Tree, so I will sculpt one, would love to get one to Darren

Major props to Jackman for reading Joseph Campbell's stuff. The messages in this movie are intense and I love Hugh's part(s) in it.

@calanais06
The first time I saw it it made me feel like a bi-sexual for a night and a day
Not joking, it has deeply affected me, I love hearing people praise it, but it'll be underrted forever i think
