There is something about this scene that makes it different from any other film and makes it so moving. The background of the story, Matt Dillon as an actor (seriously underrated) and Thandie Newton.
Ya know this scene always brings me to tears. I am a male, Marine that fought in Fallujah Iraq. You hate him for what he did earlier and yet you see how he risks his life to save her, its such a confusing scene. He realizes what he did, and she looks at him with compassion and loathing at the same time.
love this scene. the look she gives him as she walks away with the medics. like a mix of shock, gratitude and loathing. the scene then jumps to him, on his knees and his body been anointed by sunlight like a divine redemption for his sins. amazing stuff.
If you did not see the movie, this officer molested her at a traffic stop in full view of her husband in a previous scene. The husband was incapable of defending her due to the racist behavior of the two armed officers. Now here, she sees him again, this time, he is trying to "help" her? that explains her first reaction to the officer's presence. "deprevation of law under the cover of authority" is powerful ploy used by some officers on citizens which do not know their rights. Great movie.
thank you man
