the less time you spend with youre lizard the less comfortable itll be with you. its just a baby if its that size so its natural if it acts a little scared or it dosnt want to be touched. you just have to spend more time with it like petting it and holding it

if it is really opposed to being handled then you must give then time to get used to you just intracting with it and not even touching itfeeding them by hand is a good way to form a bond where he will eventually let you pet him then after feeding and petting is working try picking him up and feeding him. it helps to know his favorite food too

a good tip from me 2 u, iguanas like all 4 legs attached to smthn cause then it will just freak them out so just let it sit on your hand without touching, and try not to look them straight in the eyes, thats a threat to them so they get frighten and puff up.

I wouldn't have thought reptiles can be affectionate. I thought as pets they tolerate you at best. I know crocs can be unusually affectionate with each other (when getting it on). But this does change my opinion about reptiles.

@stufaman Thats true for the most part. Check out tegus to see reptiles "seeking affection". It might just be that petting feels good to them and they learn to seek it out but who knows. Neuroscience hasn't come far enough yet.

Uhm yes they do. I happen to be a Veterinarian and a Proud Iguana Owner and my Nova will just doze off when his head, chin, dewlap, and glands are rubbed. That is how they are calmed.
