So not only is this a big investment for the future but also you never know what science might find along the way. Remember that the Apollo program brought in almost 5 times as much as it cost because of all the things discovered during the missions and after the missions. Science isn't waste....it's an investment!

Stand in the center of a big city on a clear night and look up...you won't see many stars if any.

Now....why is that?

This is because the center of the city is BRIGHT so the lens in your eye can't make out the faint objects in the sky.

Exactly the same thing happens on the moon. Only that the moon is has a brighy gray color and is even more reflective then a city so the lens in the camera just like the lens in your eye can't see any stars.....THERE! My science for the day =D
