    HA.

  • for the 30th or 35th anniversary concert, they should do a full performance instead of just a concert, like phantom did for their 25th. soo good seeing everyone actually perform instead of just singing (which is great too of course!)

  • whoever the one person is that disliked this.... Not cool.

  • like if you can find the r

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • better than the 25th indeed

  • @zeldasonicfan Alfie Boe is a phenominal singer with a voice that is really more suited for the opera but there is no way he plays a better Valjean than Colm hes the original and no one will ever play the part as well as he did. i think Hugh Jackman might give him a run for his money in the new movie though haha

  • "yes it means im free" "NO." bahahahahaha

  • Is it just me or does the guitar play a wrong note at 10:40?

  • @Americaheritage I love him too, but this was filmed in 1995...I think he might be too old to play Valjean now!

  • whoever dislikes this has no clue what art and talent is

  • So the 30th anniversary will be in 2015...I hope they do another concert!

  • I think Alfie Boe and Norm Lewis were a better pair for Jean Valjean and Javert but other than this its awesome

  • @zeldasonicfan sooooo disagree.

  • My problem now is, 1 - I'm going to see it preformed soon and I wont be able to enjoy it as much because it won't be these voices - and 2 - it has ruined me for all other musicals and performances of this!

  • @sirnapda9th....I agree to an extent except for the part of Enjorlas. They both are great I just think Ramon K. killed the part

  • No way!!!! Alfie is horrible compared to Colm

  • @hutch3160 not only is colm better than alfie, the entire 10th anniversary casts destroys the 25th... I mean jonas could barely belt out parts that michael ball hits spot on. imo, 25th was a huge downgrade and disappointment

  • I think over the course of the show they are much closer, but I gotta be honest- don't get to mad at me anybody- but I think that Alfie boe is much MUCH better in this scene in the 25th

  • God, that note at 07:13 gives me goosebumps.

  • @perfect4panic I think alfie boe does it better

  • colm wilkinson and philip quast...I'd marry them both at once. xD

  • The energy they have is RIDICULOUS!

  • does anybody know what happened to the full version of this les miserables 10th anniversary concert? I think last year there was the full version of the performance in one video, it was 2hrs+ long, and had subtitles. if anyone can find it, can they tell me about it?

  • @theallasianreject It was recently put down.

  • I just wish they could've gotten original Fantine and Eponine. Don't get me wrong I adore Ruthie and Lea, but it would've been nostalgic to have the entire "greatest cast in the history of musicals" on the same stage again.

  • I just thought ya'll would like to know that Colm is playing the bishop in the upcoming movie, that is all

  • @MrKennybass That is the best news I've heard about the film so far. I also just read that Taylor Swift will no longer play Eponine, thank god.

  • @MrKennybass OH. MY. GOSH. Are you serious?!?!?!?!! That's, like, PERFECT!!!! Alfie Boe as Valjean, and Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop....YES YES YES!

  • @MrKennybass WHAT?!! They are giving him the bishops part? If they use him in the movie (I deffinatly think they MUST), they should give him Valjean. He is the best Valjean every! Why would they give him a second-hand part, when he has more talent for Valjean then any-body else!

  • @MrKennybass When is the movie coming out?

  • @sharksldw December I believe

  • @MrKennybass Ok. Thank you very much.

  • london's performances of les mis have been absolutely phenomenal

  • 7:14 WHOAH DUDE

  • Is good, but I prefer the 25th anniversary.

  • this is sooooo much better then the 25th anniversary concert

  • @xshadowedxangelx I'm with you it was good but seriously. How can you beat this with so many great singers.

  • Colm Wilkinson sings his part fabulously! I love it!

  • 3:17 the way he says Jean Valjean.. I can't.

  • @willdog8975 You can't say it like that?

  • That priest, is such an amazing character.

  • I've now watched both anniversary concerts. I thought the 25th was good, and the cast was very talented, especially the actors that played Enjolras and Eponine. But I think the cast of the 10th is superior. I know which album I'll be buying now.

  • @Mally1225..I have the DVDs of both and I agree completes...This cast is much better than the 25th anniversary one...

  • This cast is just amazing! Thank you for uploading it. :)

  • Thank youuuuu

  • i love this version much more than the 25th one.

though both of them are great ! "DD

  • Colm Wilkinson, Ruthie Henshall, Alun Armstrong, Jenny Galloway and Michael Ball are the benchmark for every performer who play their respective roles.

  • @ThefightingCelt I don't agree on Michael Ball in this one. He's definitely not my favorite because he makes Marius TOO strong in Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, but that's also my opinion. Ball is a strong vocalist--and would have done well as Enjolras. Marius is, unfortunately, a love-sick boy who spends the entire play pretty much pining for a girl he just met. Not who I'd cast Ball as. :/ And he sounds too strong when he should be breaking down.

  • @AnakhaSilver I'm pretty sure you're the only person that thinks that in the world.

  • Yes, whilst I still enjoyed the 25th cast - this is in a different league altogether. Javert is simply wonderful.

  • I mean his wig is brown beard black.. jk just reverse that.. xD

  • Did anybody else notice that the Bishop's wig is black and his beard is brown? It's kind of annoying to me..it's just not right.

  • I love all of the characters, without any of them it wouldn't be the same. All characters are important in books, movies, and anything else. Yeah you may hate the really mean one but if we didn't have a mean character would it be the same story, no. this story is a great example of how are actions impact us for the rest of our life. We may be good people on the inside, but if we do something really bad then it will impact us for the rest of your life. Think before you act.

  • Why can't I come on any Les Mis video without seeing a comment bashing Nick Jonas? -_- No, he wasn't the best ever, but he was good.

And there is a reason this is the DREAM CAST people.

  • The 10th Anniversary wasn't better than the 25th.

It was better than EVERY VERSION OF THIS MUSICAL EVER.

I'm sorry, but Colm Wilkinson and Lea Salonga in the same musical... I'd just die from happiness if I got to see this again.

  • Try to synchronise Valjean's soliloquy and Javert's Suicide from this concert, use youtube, is the easiest way to do it, correct the sync if it's necessary.

You'll feel the awesomeness of those two great characters, singers and songs.

  • Is it just me or is the bishop in every cast insanely amazing?

  • forever will be the best version

  • I really didnt want to say this bc I LOVE Taylor Swift, But I also LOVE Scarlett Johansson, and Les Mis is one of three all time fav musicals and I mean this with absolute respect for the music. BUT...TAYLOR IS GOING TO BE EPONINE IN THE UPCOMING MOVIE-MUSICAL PRODUCTION! No, taylor, NO! You SHOULD NOT have tried out for that! U cant really sing! AHHH, I am sory I am saying this, but Scarlett or some others WOULD have been much better! HOLLYWOOD OUGHT2 b SHAMFUL! DISSING SCARLETT FOR TAYLOR? NO!

  • sorry the 25th anniversary is 100x better :D

  • @connormbeii Nah man.

  • @connormbeii Defenitely not!

  • @connormbeii Disagree. 10th Anniversary was the best. It didnt have mediocre actors and singers like Nick Jonas. lol

  • @connormbeii no just no.

  • Thank you thank you thank you! Ahhh, there's a good night ahead.... How good it's weekend, so I don't need to wake up early.

  • The dislike button should be moved further away from the like button. Then we wouldn't have these sad misclicks.

  • Am I the only one who thinks the conductor (David Charles Abell) is really hot? I've had a crush on him since I first saw this concert on television 15 years ago.

  • The best of the bests!

  • awesomeness indeed!!!

  • IIIIN LOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!

  • I have freaking chills

  • oh my god 7:12 I came

  • Great vocals, spotty orchestration... but it looks like whoever edited the video (not the uploader, rather the guy who assembled the footage for commercial release) had no idea what he was doing.

  • 187 likes and one misclick ;)

  • The one person that disliked this needs to look down in shame.

  • @Poet2916 AT HIS GRAVE!!!!!

  • @thebigfour13 which comment of mine are you commenting on? lol I made three.

  • @Poet2916 The one under top comments.

  • @Poet2916 hahaha!!! defs

  • I think one person is disliking all the Les miserables vids to watch people's reactions..

  • I got goosebumps....

  • I remember seeing Wilkinson as the Phantom in the late 1980s. He blew me away with his performance. It was my start of my love for musicals and live performances.

  • im am one of those teenagers who are not privileged enough to watch live shows like these but appreciate its beauty

  • I have bought your soul for gooooodddd *attempts low note even though I'm a girl*

  • I love the priest in this...he looks like Jesus...:D I hated the priest in the 25th, he couldn't even get the long low note at the end....grr that's what I look foward in that part everytime

  • @Poet2916 at about 8:50

  • Colm is the best Valjean. But on the subject of Javert... no Roger Allam love? No other Javert comes close to him IMO

  • @HaraldJoe69 I totally agree. He and Colm had much better vocal chemistry.

  • Honestly? Javert is my favorite - why does the bad guy always get the best songs?

And Les Misérables? BEST MUSICAL EVER!! (People think I'm insane for reading the unabridged book, but really, it's such a moving story.)

  • @101WormBook I'm quadruply insane for being in the midst of my fourth reading of the unabridged version

  • @101WormBook I own a first edition of the unabridged book so don't worry! You're not the only one! ;o) Love it!!

  • @101WormBook lol I understand! Javert is my favorite too! I'm going to see my School's play tonight, for the third time, and I plan to watch it on Sunday also. If not to watch the play, to be close to our Javert, and Gavroche (my friend).

  • @101WormBook Javert isn't the bad guy, his alignment is just different from Valjean's. Javert is Lawful Good and Valjean is Chaotic Good. :)

  • @Muffo11 Agreed, it's part of the reason this story is so compelling. Two men strong in their convictions unwilling to bend. Until Javert breaks, one coin two sides./

  • @Muffo11 Yeah, I probably should have said "protagonist" and "antagonist" instead... My bad!

  • It will always be my favorite!!

  • I really like the voice of the bishop. So soft and moving.

  • 7:11

    OH HELL YES.

  • :"(

  • dream cast :P

  • This version is forever my favorite!,

  • I really want to like him as Valjean, but he just doesn't seem rugid enough for me. Although I most certainly got shivers when he hit all those high notes perfectly. Maybe it's like a Doctor Who things. Your Valjean (Alfie Boe) is your favourite, no?

  • My school is doing this show right now and I have to say, I actually like our Valjean better.

  • This is just magic in the air

  • One person couldn't look down.

  • Philip Quast is my favorite Javert- I like Lewis too, but he's too severe. After reading the book a second time, Quast brings a reasonable amount of sternness to the character. Lewis is too 'evil' for me--it's hard to remember that he's just as 'miserable'. Quast has a hint of soft-spokeness...I dunno. Maybe I'm biased because of his eyes XD

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I've been wanting to watch this for years!!!

  • 1 person is miserable.

  • Colm Wilkinson is the best Jean Val Jean of all time ... I was blessed enough to see one of his last performances in Toronto at the beginning of 1999 ... such an amazing performance! One I shall never forget :- D

  • The worst thing is.... our school is going to do Les Miserable as this year's school musical. it's simply madness. we can't do something this great. but even so, i guess i'll have to do my best >.<

  • @hund4n0kh4n

i wanna come to your school!!

  • @Y07dunm you'll have to travel all the way to Norway... and for a school set-up, i don't think that's really worth it tbh :P well anyways. if one could teleport it would at least definitely be worth watching.

  • thank you soo much.

  • The only Les Miserables cast for me xXx Philp Quast, love him so much as Javert. And he is so nice in person!

  • Once you're heard this concert - with the full chorus of hundreds in the back - any other performance sounds weak:P

  • @rosebloodfaerie totally agree with u!!

  • wow the flight at 07:13 was so amazing, ive never heard such power in that note from a valjean

  • this version is SO much better than the 25th...

  • @moviegurl16 Was that meant to be ironic?

  • @RoadPublications no.. im serious.. i like this one better but thats my opinion

  • @moviegurl16 Ok. Only asked because it's dificult to tell over the internet. I think this one is good too, but I prefer the 25th anniversary.

  • @RoadPublications thats not even irony that would be sarcasm.

  • The girl on the poster is my cousin!!!

  • I went to see Les Mis at the theatre in London last week with my mum... and you know what I did the next day after work? Why, I went to the gym and then I played Call of Duty (MW2) on the XBox... and I was still singing the songs while I was playing. As if I don't get enough stick for being a female gamer, now I can't listen to musicals either, apparently!

  • So many people do not comprehend the beauty of this musical. I'd hardly call it a musical, to be honest. Its not a showcase of snappy dancing and jazz ensembles and tangos. Its the bitter vision of the human experience, the cold struggle to the end that 99.9% of us all endure.

  • I like how a lot of people are trying to compare a video game console to a musical. Why can't you like both? :/

  • ow my lord Colm gives me goosebumps every time the absolute best jean valjean ever

  • I love to play the role of Eponine or Fantine, if only I can.

  • I'd love to play Thenardier. Or Javert. Or the Bishop.

  • @MasterChief9597 XBOX 360's are boring, all you do is shoot stuff that isn't actually there and get spied on by Bill Gates. Colm Wilkinson is a real person, and he doesn't try to steal your personal info. I'll stick with culture, thank you very much.

  • @MasterChief9597 Lol, what? I'm pretty sure it's entirely possible to like musicals *and* xbox 360. There's a troll in the forest!

  • @MasterChief9597 I must say, you're an idiot for even mentioning some gaming console on this video. Just completely irrelevant. Please stop spreading negativity and stupidity on people's videos.

  • @MasterChief9597 You, sir, need to please be more open-minded and try to show some class and accept that not everyone will find entertainment to solely be contained within games and a game system. And, if you believe that an XBOX 360 will provide everything you need, then you need, for your own sake, to please expose yourself to some culture and open your mind to more things like this.

  • I want to play Fantine or Eponine so much.. but my voice is too low for either of them ;_;

  • Thank you so, so much for uploading this! THANK YOU!!

  • I love the Intro!

  • that note at the end of Colm's part is insane

  • 12:24

Behold, the awesomeness of Colm Wilkinson.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh dear. I now know how I'm spending the next three hours or so of my day.

  • thanks for uploading this. I've always missed the beginning part of this when it showed on PBS. It's a good story based on Victor Hugo. It's hard to find the book complete without editing. I think this play did a good job on showing what the book showed

  • Philip Quast performance of Javert is what all others should be judged against

  • @87cougs Exactly. That goes for the entire performance as well. This cast sets the bar and it's very rare when I've seen another come close to reaching it.

  • 9:54 They gave me a number and murdered Valjean When they chained me and left me for dead Just for stealing a mouthful of bread

  • 10:10 Yet why did I allow that man To touch my soul and teach me love? He treated me like any other He gave me his trust He called me brother My life he claims for God above Can such things be? For I had come to hate this world This world which had always hated me Take an eye for an eye! Turn your heart into stone! This is all I have lived for! This is all I have known!
  • I would love to play the part Jarvert at least once in my lifetime.

  • @87cougs The same with me and Éponine :) Good luck :)

  • @87cougs - I feel the same.

  • @87cougs * the part of Colm Wilkinson.

  • cookai16 u are the best! thank u so much for uploading these here!!!

  • thanks for uploading! :D
