  • sounds almost south african at times

  • amazing

  • I am really skeptical of this stuff...

This could be cool it happened to me though

  • funny, i have only ever heard about english people with this disorder.

  • that woulda sucked if she was a member of the KKK!

  • i think shes a russian immigrant passing for a brit

  • The 'foreign LANGUAGE syndrome' also exists - fasinating stuff!

  • Has anyone heard of a 'foreign language syndrome' where intermittently, sentences spoken come out in a language unknown to the speaker?

I'm not talking about 'speaking in tongues' stuff.

The 'unknown language' is fluent and beautiful.

  • This woman now knows what it's like being a brown person in some parts of the western world.

  • To all the people who think she's faking it! ALOT of people have this disease, it mainly happens after head trauma such as heavy concussions!

  • I know this isn't funny, but I start laughing so hard when she talked. Did you ever try stop laughing because it's highly innapropriate but the more ya try to stop the harder you laugh?

  • why do people keep saying these people are faking it, for fucks sake man, its a true disorder, why would someone string this out for so long!!! grow up you thick ignorant fucks

  • The brain, is just amazing..

  • shes a blatent fruit cake

  • why havent they made a horror movie about this yet ?? attack of the killer brains !!

  • She actually does not literally speak in another accent, her stroke has just messed up her speech making it sound like a different accent.

  • this so funny

  • I keep hearing different accents...it changes a bit. It is quite interesting...

  • Some people's personalities change after being under anesthesia. After my appendix removal I stopped eating fast food and start listening to 60's music and dress differently.

  • "...by brains which have taken over their bodies"... Anybody else think that is a pretty dumb statement? Interesting syndrome though.

  • Dude accents are hot

  • ive actually at 1 time i wanted the syndrome but it could last forever if not months or years wich sucks

  • @serenecelene I have foreign accent syndrome. Do you want people to ask you where you are from when they meet you (when you have lived in the same state all your life)? Why would someone want to fake this when people ridicule you? And if any gay guys think this syndrome is hot, let me know. I haven't got laid in awhile. lol

  • faker

  • Yeah she sounds somewhat French and German.

  • The brain is so complex, it's scary.

  • wow, she sounds French and sometimes German

  • No, Americans can get it too. NPR did a story about an American women who had a mild stroke under dental anaesthesia and work up talking with an Anglo-Irish accent.

  • Does your brain, control you...or do you, control your brain?

  • the british accent is awful enough

  • She.....sounds....

  • I could live with waking up and having an Irish accent.

  • 3:50

dont be sad. you sound hot :)

  • you still sound kinda retarded though.

  • That's witchcraft lol!

  • hot daughter

  • I would like to buy a hamburger

  • @tRiXtErEmo11 i wul liike to buey da-demburger!

  • i kinda want foreign accent syndrome...XD

  • The brains have taken over there bodies!!!!...because WTF else controls your body...

  • balled? it's called a mini stroke. Numb lips, sluur..

  • No disorder, this are all the different past life selfs coming through her.

  • how come the most bizarre diseases are mostly in UK?

  • I live in Stafford and I have never seen this person..

  • Its a stroke and now her voice sounds like that of a brain-damaged woman

  • does anybody know why it's always British people who get this??

  • @dod8122 i saw this american woman hae a stroke and end up with an australian accent, but they kept sayin it was british -.- but yeah not only british people ;)

  • @dod8122 Someone is Oregon just got it

  • @dod8122

It just happened to someone in Oregon.

  • @dod8122 Nah I hasths itz too, you know?

  • @dod8122 incest

  • @dod8122 Cuzz they're all full of shit?

  • @stephwoodard90 EXCUSE ME?! You can't exactly talk you American turd!

  • @dod8122 Because British people are the smartest in the world. Ask a German to impersonate an Australian. NONE of them can do it. Ask a French person to do a Japanese. NONE of them can. But ask a Brit? Yes. You got it. Easy. They are just so good with their ears and voices.

  • @dod8122 it's not, i've seen a documentary about an american from tenesee who got it as well as a dutch woman who speaks like a french now

  • @dod8122 I thought it was the other way around; americans getting british accents

  • @dod8122 But it doesn't only happen to them. It happened to atleast five Americans, an African man, an Australian and others too.

  • @dod8122 not only that mostly if ther not english they most likely get the english accent

  • @dod8122 because we're awesome. that or we subconciously hate our own accents. not me though.... mon deui!

  • @dod8122 We love a good laugh.

  • @dod8122 It's most likely due to the British being more exposed to a large variety of different accents in a close proximity. Unlike other countries, where there is more of a similar accent between the local population.

  • @dod8122 yes, because British people are world famous Troll's !

  • @dod8122 Because we're a bit more accident prone

  • @dod8122 Until seeing this I'd only heard of American people having this.

  • @dod8122 It's not. There was a woman from Oregon who went to the Dentists and the anaesthetic made her apparently speak with an "English accent". It doesn't sound English. It's found all over the world. :)

  • @dod8122

    not always,

there is a documented case of this "foreing exchange student sindrom" in the USA

i think her accent is even worse than mine, and i have a rather thick accent. hehehehe

  • @dod8122 it's not

  • @dod8122 It could be inherited from parents and originated in Europe.

  • I'm confused. Is she speaking in another language sometimes too or just another accent?

  • Okay, there's something very strange going on. I think she must be hearing these accents for sometime? Or maybe it's some kind of paranormal activity :D

  • That's damn sad people make fun of her accent!!

  • Hmm can she try to force her normal accent out? Like when people try to speak with a foreign accent.

  • @CrazedPeeling Nope It can actually give a person with FAS a headache to try and force the speech patterns to change :-(

  • Dose she not know how long and hard it is for someone to learn a different language and this chick gets a head ache, wakes up the next morning and is speaking fluent Spanish--and shes complaining! BAHH!

  • @FireAlarm lol . but condolences to her

  • It sounds like she had a stroke.

  • this i quite like me acctually. i don't mean it but i start talkin in different accent. i'm orriginally from italy but i never got the accent. i live in scotland now. but i start talkin in a english, american and itlaian accents:S. i dont know what it is:(. but i get slagged at skool:(.

  • @Shaadow98 When I studied abroad, my accent changed a little lol. People would mention it to me...but they thought it was cool where I live! Now I dont have an accent I don't think :)

  • it sounds like a very strong french accent, i can't believe this was possible. it's odd because it's like losing your identity. It really must be frustrating.

  • I want foreign accent syndrome. I want to sound american!

  • oh......... I see, people from brixton are actually normal, its just foreign accent syndrome

  • to be honest...its not the worst thing...at least she can remember her children. I rather have this than alzheimers.

  • I think Tommy Wiseau has this disorder.

  • thumb up if dr.kim sent you here

  • her eyes are two different colors...O.O

  • i wonder if you can get a gay lisp that way...

  • as long as they cannot speak with their own accent, they must speak with a foreign accent.there are a few thosand languages.we can always find some accent similar to their changed accent.

  • @240kankan, agreed. It just happens that their irregular speech patters sound similar to that of another language.

  • People say im foreign.

I say "nooooooooe, im frum standafod.!

  • Damn. Talk about strange shit lol.

  • hang on... i can put on a french accent, so why cant she just put on an english accent??

  • Instant Multilingual. I would like her ability.

  • @Topazman12

    -

Its just an accent not the whole language lol

  • Believe it or not, this could get you laid.

  • @SimlishSammy not if you woke up with a indian accent lol

  • @SimlishSammy Now I feel cool that I can talk in whatever accent I like :D

  • @SimlishSammy Not with that face

  • her daughtr wears a shitload of makeup...ew.

  • I mean it's not exactly the end of the world is it? She can still speak.

  • the woman is affected worse than the man

  • @R3d1996 i was just bored. it funny how she says "I dont want to be a foreign". I dont want to have this syndrome, would have been better..but yea still sucks, scary shit..

  • That mole...

'Scuse me while I throw up.

  • I thought that I had this for a while...but I've never had any known brain damage. I'm American, but I have a little bit of a british sounding accent. Some people think it's a different accent. I've had friends ask me where I'm from...it's embarrassing.

  • "i don't want to be a foreign" what a dumb thing to say

  • why they gotta go all raciest calling it foreign accent syndrome!

  • @lumimobb foreign to the person....what else are you gonna call it?

  • gee it almost brought tears to my eyes..n its nt funny at all !

  • It almost sounds half french half russian, the accent is interesting, and sometimes it occasionally sounds like chinese or something...never heard something like that before, strange syndrome..

  • i like the accent

  • I want an accent lol

  • @Camillelele69 Everyone has an accent dumbass.

  • i want that but jamaican. that'd be sick.

  • I like her accent, sounds cool

  • hahaah this is kick ass so many accents in one sentence

  • i lose vorty sleven yeaarrs of shpeach in 4 dai?

  • WEEABOO!

  • it sounds greek a little bit

  • Why would people make fun of your accent? Are people that not accepting over there?

  • the proper name for this condition is Dysprosody, the name they use now is a dumbed down version.

  • she also seems to be making the grammatical mistakes though... pretty dodgy.

  • @Snortthesweetener Yeah, all the people suffering from this syndrome seem like they're making grammatical mistakes. It doesn't make sense.

  • maybe she has like, personality problems ? And they treat her with this kind of syndrome?

  • couldnt they just put on their old accents and eventually they will just speak that all the time...

  • it sounds french

  • @punkkitty025 not at all.

  • i wish i have foregin accent syndrom i want and accent DX but it i might regret it by saying that i want this when other are suffering from it :/

  • At least it's better than a Staffordshire accent...

  • why is she waddling? is it linked to the syndrome??

  • Why is she upset it's only an accent how is that upsetting at all. She should just be grateful nothing worse happened.

  • At least it's not a physical disorder or something that will hurt her.

  • These people have been possessed by the Djinn.

  • at first i thought it was quite a funny syndrome even as a doctor to be. but as her talked about her story i just started to patronise her. not being able to call her children's names correctly, not being able to be understood easily.. she was asked of how she felt after listening to what she used to do for the radio station, she could only spit out, "sad...sad.."

  • this is the coolest disorder by far!

  • @dsouzand I DEF AGREE! HAHA

  • It's not only the accent, it's also what words she uses if you notice. She uses more simple words. If it was just the accent it would just be the pronunciation, but it isn't.

  • I guess this is as close as we can get to "walking in the shoes' of non-natives".

  • I'm pretty skeptical about this. I would not be surprised if she's just putting on a show for attention and publicity. Not saying it isn't true...just that I'm wouldn't be surprised if this is a fraud.

  • @Chriscjs It's true. There have been other recorded cases of the same disorder. In fact, one just was released today, April 22.

  • Sad, but its still hot.

  • What's wrong with a Japanese accent?

  • I wonder if she can do impressions of her old accent! Haha

  • she prob has a brain tumor and is watching to much tv.

  • Cerebral noob

  • It's sad (and probably terrifying) for the person affected and their family but fascinating when you really think about the cause and what happens. Imagine the terrible affect on the person & having to convince them that you're not putting it on. There is so much more to learn about the brain... how bizarre.

  • sounds like an Italian speaking english

  • you can hear parts of her british accent underneath all of it

  • Yep.

Listen to the end of her sentence at 5:13

  • "With brains that have taken over their bodies"........ aren't brains supposed to do that?

  • lol exactly what i said when i 1st heard it...

  • @MattTucksMistress Not if you're Sarah Palin.

  • @MattTucksMistress Not when you need ratings :/

  • @MattTucksMistress yeah but not in this extreme, where it changes you like that.

  • @MattTucksMistress I would be somewhat terrified if my brain didn't control my body lol.

  • @MattTucksMistress not if the brain isn't yours

  • the prejudice depends on what place in the US you're in and there is racist people everywhere

  • it would be funny if she got a indian or black accent

  • haha yeah imagine her getting all ghetto.

  • @IrishDutchman or becomin al pacino

  • @legendarybloodfang

What the fuck is a "black accent?"

  • im american and i cant even do a british accent. i sound like an idiot haha

  • lol i would just run into a person's house and stert screaming in random accents.

  • couldnt she just try and put on a foreign accent to sound like herself again? like americans can do a british accent?

  • im swedish and my accent is normal in my language but when i speak english i sound Russian.. i never been in russia or

have a russian heritage.. its strange

  • say "is anybody in the mood for SWEDISH MEATBALLS!?!?!" randomly

  • I understand you and I dont know why you got 6 thumbs down because I guess people dont like to hear the truth. The real problem is when you are prejudice people in a dreary hell hole like England/London it's easy to hate other with accent, so if you wake up with one of "their" accents you'll be hated too.

  • Believe me if would be WORSE if she were in the United States. I have an accent (okay, granted mine isn't as strong) and the white British don't treat me bad at all. Your profile tells me that you are American. In that case I suggest that you shut up. Your country has more prejudices, racist people than any other

  • That just proves how white british are prejudice/racist/ass holes, because she's all of a sudden and out cast because she has a foreign accent? Even she acts like she's in high school and she's worried what her peers will think of her. How pathetic fucking british.

  • fuck you you piece of shit. You're being prejudice by saying all white british people think the same. just think of how u say things before you say them

  • lol ok MOST british whites are racist. Is that better dick? Btw fuck you too...

  • pip pip do doodly doo.

  • You've clearly underestimated how much something like this can affect some one.

Imagine the doubt that your friends will have when speaking to you. People you've once known think you're going crazy or putting on an act and lose trust.

And of course why would you want to sound like someone you aren't?

  • What kind of friends would do that? Those are not called friends.
