This song is very special to me. My partner and I made love for the first time to this.....26 years ago next month! We're closer than ever. Sorry if this is TMI, but it's not like I'm ever going to see you! ;-)
This is a classic chooon from Yazoo, when it was released i think it was on the b side of the other side of love, it so should have been released in its own right......and yes i am an old fart, an old fart who thinks that good music is timeless, and doesnt care who knows it ..
@mikefahey53 Yep , this is gonna b truly classic even up to now , i've remembered this release being as little child as it was very very often played at disco's . Then didn't know the title of that song , and later i found the one at least t on " You and Me both " lp.
great! I couldn't remember the title and have been looking for this song for ever This kind of great song still sounds contemporary but for those of us around when it came out it's also comfortingly nostalgic...the lyrics are simple but so poetic and the mood of the rythm is perfect for how the concept of the song feels viscerally ugh such a great song THANK YOU for the upload and presentation :D
yeah, i watched the movie last year after reading the book for school. I didn't like what happened to the main character, but for some reason i still loved the book. Thats what happens whenever i read one of Robert Cormier's books; despite their themes, i'm still drawn to them
It's great song! I loved this! it's came out from their 2nd album if i didn't go wrong. Times have been changed and I seem that kind of sounds like they made is rare to get now and some people wants to listen to commercial tunes . I am always thinking that Nothing better than beginning of 80's!
You can not find such great artist now a days with the vision that they had. Look at all the styles they have formed. Till this day they are still finding new followers. The words in their music is so meaningful with a purpose.
Precisely, and what made Vince Clarke leap from one mission to another (rhetorical)? He did a splendid job in forming Depeche Mode, and he certainly managed to capture Alison's deep voice. I can only speculate how it would have sounded should Vince have had managed to unite Jimmy Somerville, David Gahan and Alison Moyet. Rolle Möller, Finland

In his face age descends on youth, exaggeration on the truth
He caught me looking then but soon his eyes forgot
And everything he seems to do reflects just another shade of blue
I saw him searching into you and ached a while
I watch his lips caress the glass,
His fingers stroke its stem and pass
To lift a cigarette at last, he dries his eyes
From a shadow by the stair
I watch as he weeps unaware
That I'm in awe of his despair

if anyone recalls the 80's movie The Chocolate War, based on the novel, it features many songs by Yazoo...worth a look...

Just like Depeche Mode, Alison and Vince were a group way ahead of their time. I hear kids wanting to know who sings these songs.
