  • it's great music, one of my all time favorite songs..

  • Whilst I fully accept that dropping the A-Bomb was probably the best of the various shitty alternatives there is no need to take the piss. Saying "shitty gooks started it fuck em" is rather unchartible view to express on the deaths of 1000's of civilians.

  • @ma049 It wasn't the best alternative, Japan's navy was done, 48 cities fire bombed, they'd offered to surrender multiple times. The military-industry complex wanted to drop the bomb. The worst chapter in human history to date, horrible.

  • @beyondvelocity Japan offered to surrender multiple times? Can you cite a single authenticated Japanese source for that?

I mean you would think that the Japanese more than anyone would like that version of events to be accepted as conventional wisdom.

  • @ma049 Hi ma049, yup the Japanese tried to surrender many times. Have a look here:

    rense.com/general72/jee(.)htm

and read this by Eustace Mullins:

    whale.to/b/mullins8(.)html

  • @beyondvelocity You'll need to remove the () from the links.

  • @beyondvelocity

    “Many times”

    Ok, can you describe a single example? Just give me two or three sentences that contain the following information;

    - the date the offer was made

    - the organisation or individuals that made the offer

    - the organisation or individuals to whom the offer was made

    - the actual terms offered

  • @ma049 See the links I provided - you'll need to remove the brackets surrounding the period. Here's an example:

MacArthur notified Roosevelt in January, '45, before FDR went to Yalta, that the Japanese were willing to surrender all Japanese forces on the sea, in the air, at home...This was finally reported by Walter Trohan of the Chicago Tribune on August 19, 1945 (simultaneously in the Washington Times Herald).

  • Oh I read those articles (God help me). The were not exactly heavy on sources. Take the claim you quoted. It rests on a partial report of a newspaper article by a reporter who heard it second hand from McArthur.

  • @beyondvelocity Trohan's story wasacomplete hoax.Japan sent peacefeelers to a US *General*? Why not thru diplomatic channels? Strange that MacArthur never mentioned that so-called incident in '48 or '52 Presidential elections or even in his memoirs-nor did ANY J government official -of HUNDREDS interrogated after the war.

  • @ma049 This is a good summary of the attempts to organize a surrender and what we knew about Japan's capacity to fight:

    w h a t r e a l l y h a p p e n e d . c o m / W R H A R T I C L E S / p e a r l / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / P e n t a g o n / 6 3 1 5 / t r u m a n . h t m l

    - you'll need to remove the spaces.

  • @beyondvelocity That is a terrible summary. It completely glosses over any inconvenient details. For example it states that Japan tried to surrender via the USSR, and then fails to go into any detail. Is the reader just supposed to take the authors interpretation of Japan's motives for speaking to the USSR at face value?

Then we get the " peace offer" via McArthur. Again no detail of that offer. And then we get a some quote mining of telegrams between the USSR and the Imperial government.

  • @ma049 I think they clearly point to the fact that Japan was in no position to continue the war considering the destruction of their navy and the damage inflicted on their cities. They had no desire to continue fighting and they were going through channels to seek an end. Those documents are just signs, take them as a starting point for research. Read other books on Pearl Harbour like "Day of Deceit" by Robert Stinnett and a very different picture of what happened will start to emerge.

  • @beyondvelocity "Japan was in no position to continue the war" So what? That implies that the Japan government was acting with one mind and more importantly was acting in a rational manner. Col Gaddafi was in no position to continue after the fall of Tripoli but he still refused to surrender, Hitler was in no position to continue as Soviet troops flooded into East Prussia.

The point is that the Japanese, Nazis and Gaddafi all clung onto the naive belief that they still had achievable war aims

  • @ma049 I've pointed you in the direction of research to persue which will show the Japanese were seeking an end to the war. If you were Col. Gaddafi would you surrender after being betrayed by the West and having seen how they silenced Sadam Hussein? Contra factum non argumentum est, other than that opinions don't really matter, so there's not point continuing. I wish you all the best.

  • @ma049 Consider this quote from Admiral Willaim D. Leay (Chief of Staff to Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman)

"It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons." - William Leahy, I Was There, pg. 441.

    That's all I'm saying.

  • @beyondvelocity Consider that quote? Ok it was one mans opinion, I am sure lots of Allied commanders had misgivings about the use of this weapon. A nation is not of one opinion. It is does not amount to proof that America deliberately withheld surrender so they could atom bomb Japan.

"that's all I am saying". You boldly asserting a grand conspiracy and your only sources are other debunked conspiracy theorists. I suggest you do more research.

  • Without the American, and the allies, french people would probably speak German,or Russian by now,or may be in another 20 years ,they will speak Arabic. Thanks America to prevent the world from the red communist disease.

  • @chambreski Yeah, those stupid Japs started it, but the people at Nagasaki and Hiroshima were innocent. If America started conquering the world and someone exterminated your town, would you still think "Fuck it, America deserves?"

  • TERRIBLE RETARDED VERSION... PLEASE TAKE THIS DOWN

  • El major error humano jamas visto y vivido.

  • Uma das maiores covardias do ser humano.

  • RIP!!

  • Why people have to add music to their videos? Considering the subject, I find it utmostly disrespectful to the thousands who died in the two raids. It is simply disgusting and shows the lack of education and humanity.

  • humans are stupid - american humans are the inventors of stupid - no mouse will invent her own trap - nothing can excuse this... greetings from germany - and we know what we have done ...

    bella canzone comunque

  • @georgevreeland I have to agree with frenchpeoplelove on this one. Attitudes like yours make your country hated all over the world for its arrogance and belligerence. I'm sure you don't care about that, and that's your right. But reread your comment and subsitute Iraq for US and US for Japan. In your logic, that would justify Iraq dropping a nuclear weapon on the United States. Either that, or it's hypocrisy.

  • paul tibbets were the pilots name,, he felt the shock nearly 12 miles up on his return, what about all them sailors who got blasted by suicide japanese pilots,, they were just in the same category as bin laden and his merry men,,, basically cowards,, that start a war and cant end it,, well the war were sorted then,, wish we could sort wars of today the same way,,,,,,,UK Nige

  • Molto bello il video.. fa ricordare a migliaia di generazioni con questa bella canzone cos'è successo in quel bruttissimo periodo..

    Marti:)

  • Japan started a war with us and we ended it our way.

The bomb had to be dropped to save countless U.S. lives.

Why should our boys die because of something they started?

    Let them die.

If you don't like how it turned out, then too bad.

Japan should not have started it in the first place.

If you don't like the end result, then don't have a beginning.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @GeorgeVreeland I miss words to express the horror of your comment make me indignant ! Next to where I live, in France, a city was bombed by America at the end of the war, because a little german garrison was still here. They used napalm and killed innocent !! But we were ally ! So I hate stupid patriotic people like who think America is the best country and the savior of all the world !! Don't be so prowd, there isn't reason for.

It's in japan culture to never abandon, even if all is lost.

  • @frenchpeoplelove1 ...........lets see, who started the war? And whose side did the french take?

  • @frenchpeoplelove1 "savior of the world"? Well, if not for America, you French would be speaking German or Russian. (& if you aren't careful, in another 40 years, you'll all be speaking Arabic)

My father and uncle fought in WWII. They didn't win the war all by themselves (tip of the hat to millions of other Americans, Russians, Britons, Canadians, et. al) but they risked their lives to play a part in the destruction of the 3rd Reich, and I am VERY proud of them.

  • damn america!!! you fools destroyed hiroshima and nagasaki!! every japanese that lived in this arey is dead or physically disabled now!! generations of japanese cry for their relatives and all that only cuz of that stupid bombs!!! AMERICA SUCKS ASS!!!

    R.I.P. 4 every1 who died there...

P.S.:I'm dissapointed of you, america. Really...

  • Gay still don't only mean homosexual. Gay can be a happy person like in a gay and happy person.. Gay is also a rather common sir name.

  • het moest gewoon, er was geen andere weg ! there was no other way !

  • het moest gewoon, er was geen andere weg !

  • The Japanese bombed the Pearl Harbor when most US warships were out at sea, and they did not destroy the repair shops. Hence the US can make a very easy comeback and sent 2 gifts to Japan. Paul Tibbetts was the pilot of Enola Gay and he said before he died that he did not regret dropping the bomb. Well maybe if he didn't, it may take quite a long time before Japan surrender, because Japanese are types that will die than surrender, but if he did, Japan surrendered immediately, but costs lives.

  • Dog Shit

  • Detonating the bomb in an relatively unpopulated area of Japan would leave the Japs in no doubt as to its destructive potential. Add to that an ultimatum to surrender unconditionally within a week (make clear Hirohito can stay as a figurehead). If not, threaten to start using the bombs on targets like Tokyo and Osaka. This would most likely have produced unconditional capitulation and show the US as an most benign victor.

  • @bossmastercheif As I already pointed out demonstration would've given Truman moral high ground. However THREE DAYS after Hiroshima- no surrender.

Can you be *positive* that Japan wouldn't have used Allied POWs as "human shields"?

US grain shipments saved the lives of millions of J civilians & we can't get any credit for being "benign victors"?

  • @kentamitchell I think they were discussing surrender after Hiroshima and it might have come without Nagasaki if the US waited a few more days and made clear that unconditional surrender does not imply the overthrow of Hirohito, only the renouncement of his divine status. Naturally, there are many if's but this was probably the most humane scenario.

That's kinda relative (i don't think millions would have starved). Anyway, 2 nukes are much more memorable than grain shipments;-)

  • @bossmastercheif I think you would benefit from a bit more study. Even *after* H&N 1/2 J cbnt wanted

    emporer remains absolute ruler

    no occupation

    j disarms self

no war crimes trials xcpt in j tribunals

(Hitler would've liked terms like that in 1945)

Research Wake Island:4,000 J troops garrison. No supply ships after 1/1/44: 600 died in bombings, 1,200 starved to death, 1,000 carried off on a hospital ship, 1,200 more only surrendered after 8/15/45

  • @bossmastercheif Under the J constitution, *4* active duty officers (Navy Min &CoS, Army Min. & CoS) had veto power over any govt decision.

Consider that USambJ Edwin Reischauer estimated that without the bombs would've reached ten million

Or JNavy VCoS Onishi who said 8/45 'If Japan is willing to sacrafice twenty million lives...victory is still attainable"

  • The middle east needed and deserved the atomic treatment. Why did they not get their asses handed to them like Japan did? Because they have oil and because our officials are in bed with theirs. America no longer has any balls and has become one giant pussy. We lost 'Nam and we lost against Al Qaeda for that very reason.

  • Comment removed

  • @TRE1275

except the fact that were fighting people in the middle east that hide amongst a civilian population.

we try somewhat hard not to kill civilians the return fire criteria for a soldier is insane.

its like they need to hear they're being fired at, see the person, see a bullet come near them, then they need to wait and call the which ever of the 2 countries their in's military to see if they want to deal with them

after that they need to call a superior officer. its pretty crazy

  • America is the worlds largest terrorists nation. Now the American are afraid the same may happed to them... and why not

  • carcarodonyeyahoo -

Regardless of much of anything, I'm the grand-nephew of one of the few who actually survived slave-labour on the Burma Railway. The Axis had to be stopped.

Believe it or not, the nuclear bombing of Japan had a vastly lower death-toll than the projected fatality rate of an invasion - whether you're talking US servicemen or Japanese civvies.

And the Pacific War was one fire the Yanks didn't light...

AgentDemonEyes - Enola Gay dropped Little Boy. Bockscar dropped Fat Man.

  • USA killed 300.000 peoples only in Japan in 1945. Better dont talk about Iraq. And now cry for 2.500 peoples of twin towers ? All word hate USA

  • @carcarodonteyahoo

yes all the countries that dont bother to learn proper english hate the us

but please consider that had the nuke not dropped our 10 million man draft army and japans 6 million man army would have clashed, probably on japans land being that we had a way better navy.

but you are right we do hella over react about the 4k deaths in 9/11

  • @wriquee thank for answer and sorry for my bad english. My best regards

  • norm

  • it dropped first atomic bomb .jupan surrendered a couple weeks later.she is now in the national Air and Space museum in Chantilly, virginia

  • wan't Enola Gay the plane that dropped the Atomic Bomb?

  • @iluvbennyboy Yes. Yes it was (:

Well, it was the one that dropped Little Boy, I'm not totally sure on which dropped Fat Man. :3

  • @AgentDemonEyes Bock's Car dropped "Fat Man" 8/9/45. It is now at the museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

  • @kentamitchell Ah, cool! I didn't know that~ :3

  • I really don't know that Enola Gay dropped that bomb. Awesome Song, and I learned something new.

  • my great grand mother was the plane and sent karma back to where it started, 2 generations later, her great grand daughter in hainault, was gay, born in 65 yet she wasn't named bomb and never was a sex bomb either. In the meantime all coincidences of history and double taxes have killed MILLIONS of people who do NOT care because their numbers allow them to think that karma will happen to somebody else... This all karma idiocy is RIDICULOUS

  • Lets talk about the raping of Nanking or the Bataan death march. War sucks but it happened.

  • Erschreckende Bilder, mehr kann ich dazu nicht sagen! Song ist aber gut, OMD sowieso!

  • R.I.P for all deth people from Hiroshima and Nagasaki

  • @stepartur2 Yeah, all those poor deaf people never heard it coming .........

  • @stepartur2 there died wasn't for nothing... it ended world war 2

  • @stepartur2 R.I.P. Pearl Harbor. The attack that led to the deaths of millions has been finally avenged. The first shot was heard in Pearl. The last in Hiroshima & Nagasaki.

  • @snakesinmypants Stupid comment!....

  • @stepartur2 Why what happened ? Omg I havent turned the news on yet today ?

  • @itallxit2 Since when? It's meant homosexual for at least 40 years.

  • enola gay was the mother of one of the pilots

  • first plane to take off is a b17

  • @barnetboy2 And a B17G model at that with the chin turret under the nose. Produced towards end of WWII. The G model had "side blisters" on the nose area and guns aboard increased to 13 and no more were added after that.

  • Thanks, Paperball..... hope we never use this again.

  • This is my favorite plane of all-time because it totally pwnd all those chinks

    ^_^

  • @DJAlfonsoSorryanew Why do you call them people chinks you racist hamburger obese boring peasant but you seem to forget that pearl harbour was reduced to ashes. The big bear is awake now and you can not do what you want,China will stop you, you bullying is over.

  • Enola Gay was the pilot's mother's name. "Gay" did not mean homosexual then.

  • @JanetEsq umm enola gay was the plane that deliver the atomic bomb

  • @craigclass Yes I know. That's how he came up with the name.

  • I'm not homofobic, but what kind of idiot baptises his own plane "Gay" ??? I think that Gay culture is stronger in US than anywhere else!

  • dropping an atom bomb in a defenceless city full of civilians, is no different than gathering the entire city's population in the central square and opening fire on them.

Dropping a second bomb without any apparent reason, except for experimental research, is like using humans as rats in a laboratory.

This is the truth, the rest is simply bs from people without brain.

One of the most disgusting moments in american and the world's history.

  • @SajukkTheEternal

Rape of Nanking was one of the disgusting even't in history.

  • @SajukkTheEternal 1. Hiroshima was headquarters of J 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata. 43,000 J troops were in the city; 20k-30k died

2.After H j cbnt hardliners argued the US could only have 1 A bomb. 3 hours after "god/man" hirohito heard of Nagasaki, he gave the order to surrender.

    3. If you are concerned about humans being used like labratory rats, look up"Unit &31" and Colonel Ishii.

  • @kentamitchell Very true

  • Love the song :)

  • I just want to know why it's always sounded like it's being played on a casio

  • Gran versión, que narra el desastre en Hiroshima! del clásico synthpop Enola Gay

  • Great wrath for Pearl Harbor - should have dropped both caps a lot earlier though

  • I will never understand why human beings do what they do to each other. The majority of "ordinary" people just want to get on with life and go about their buisness. Its so sad and pointless and such a waste we do to each other what we do. We all live on the same Earth , youd think we could all get on better.

  • @bigwoolleypenguin finally somebody higher developped here, thank you for your wise comment!

  • a tribute for my heroes...thank you ENOLA GAY!

  • sad so sad.All the children,moms,and families.All dead.Makes me want to cry.

  • enola gay is a beautiful plane

  • google "Enola Gay" and see what you can find .. draw your own conclusions :o)

  • usa world police?

as usa was taking no part in the war until japan underhandedly attacked pearl harbour how can you say that

japan started it and usa finished it

as japan was the aggressor then i have to say if it was a choice between their lives or american lives then it was a good choice

  • @dogandcat110, I don't talking only about war against Japan, u watch "team america"?

  • @dogandcat110 bollocks they let pearl harbour happen as they did with 911

  • @lotty690 I suggest you read Gordan Prange's excellent "At Dawn We Slept". He demolishes the conspiracy theories.

  • @kentamitchell its not a conspiracy theory its a fact, most american people are brainwashed by the government and media into thinking otherwise, the result is they all think thats the truth, and anyone who disagrees with it is wrong and a nutcase . freedom of speech my arse

  • @lotty690 I suggest you read a few books, make yourself a new tinfoil hat, and stop making such a spectaclar arse of yourself.

  • @kentamitchell i dont need to read your type of books to reaise whats going on in the world , you just proved my point though . because i believe different to you , you make out that im some kind of nutter and insult me ,just like the american media and government

  • @lotty690 nutter, no. Ignoramus, yes.

  • @theletsplayking thats coming from a person who is still playing wargames and a harry potter fan ha ha get real ffs

  • Great mix.... Thank you... Woke up with it in my mind...

  • this is a well good vid love the song and i luv the vid altogether!!well done =)

  • fuck us&a world police!!!

  • NO japan decided their own fate they attacked first they would of kept on attacking but lost the element of surprise

  • @kevinyuni, Yes, but war was finish,You win,so i dont unarstand decision about droping this bombs us&a was create 250yers ago on the blood of Indians and black people, U fight in every war where u see buisnes, media on the word doo evrything to show usa in good light, but u are te biggest ENEMY of free man.

  • im sorry some of your comments i cant understand, what does dropping the A BOMB has to do with the indians

  • more ?

  • i think they could have got Japan back other ways it wwas the japanese milatry to blame not the civillians the owner of the little trike a toddler of 3 or 4 he didnt deserve to die or his little playmate they were just harmless babies out playing enjoying the sunshine on that fatefull day

  • yankees had to drop the bomb to avoid the USSR involment in the main japanese islands war theatre, a treaty signed by Allies after the fall of Third Reich stopped any soviet attack against japan for three month... 7 may 1945/7 august 1945... without the nuke there would be a second Berlin... however it has been a political solution that caused an inhuman waste of life, japan was defeated and pulverized by conventional and fire bombing, nobody paid for this crimes... p.s. at 0:21 it's a B-17

  • Too true.. unfortunately in any war it's women and children and civilians who pay the price for the decisions made by the men who decide their deaths...

  • My grandfather 's actions at the island of Attu, saved untold (could be 100,000s of thousands) of AMERICAN lives. I will not apologize. If you start a war, your women, children and elderly will pay the price and suffer. Stop your pity party for the Jap's, those who are crying over Jap losses need to get a grip. Jap's need to take owner ship. If you are from U.S, you are ignorant, uneducated and probably voted for Obama. How is that whole Hope and Change thing working out for you?

  • i think its okay !!! like the video

  • @cfc251 yeah it is its old footage and the song[before my tume]is really catchy but just dont sing it if u ever visit Japan XD

  • this version is plain awful

  • american idiots !!!!

  • Awful version...

What would Andy Mccluskey think of this drivel...

  • if they had not bombed japan they would still be fighting them now it was costing too meany lifes in the long run it saved lifes to nuke them its sad but true

  • fuck russia

  • wow, please take another sanger...

    music is nice!!!

  • It was the military japs who are idiot and stuborn! the target of that bomb is for the military japs and japs military base.

  • By that logic, Jews are also to blame for being killed by the Nazis?

  • No that's just a silly and ignorant thing to say isn't it?

  • SPPPSMAAMAMAM

  • We need to work on that don't we, ask yourself "what does that mean to people who can read and write?"

  • There was a guy from Nagasaki visiting Hiroshima and he survived the explosion only to return to another pile of ash.

  • A LIl message, DON'T Mess with the U.S!!!!!!!!!!! The trickery of Japan and the Pearl Harbor attack. " We have woke a sleeping giant the Japanese General had said" and he was RIGHT!!!!!! VET, And God Bless the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck the USA, they think they are the world's police, and it is dumb asses like you who give it a bad name, which is a shame because most people are decent people.

  • POOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tested in japan, TWICE!!!!!!! Other countries come crying to us for help, you should be thankful shit head!!!

  • Fuck the rest of the world. It's full of cowardly nations who come crying to the US every time some dictator's invading. Fuck all the ungreatful countries our father's freed during the war. If Hitler has invented that fucking bomb, he would of dropped it on every land he wanted to get his evil little paws on... Thankfully the US developed it first and used it first for the bettering of mankind!!!! FUCK ALL OF YOU WHINEY ASS COWARDS!!

  • The US didn't invent the bomb, UK scientists made the first viable blueprint for the nuclear weapon. The rest of the world don't come whining to the US, we just sit about and wait until you shit heads get a new president who needs to prove himself and kill another few million of us or'nary non 'mericans.

Did I mention you're an illiterate cretin, you are an insult to the decent people of America and everywhere else who died in WW2, they fought for peace not the right to say "Fuck you all...."

  • American men and women died saving your cowardly relatives asses. The bomb ended the war, and I didn't say crap about Americans inventing it.. I said DEVELOPED, ok Cupcake? My father was a tank operator, faught in Normandy, and was also involved in the battle of the bulge. I'm sure he'd agree with me, ingreatful cowards like you should be hung.

  • @scoopyex I'm sure he'd also agree that you need to sue the public school who failed to teach you basic grammar.

Your Father was a brave man...and you had nothing to do with his heroism, so stop using it to bolster YOUR standing here.

  • @trinitymike Suck a dick!! The bomb was a blessing and it spared many more lives than it caused the loss of. Typical antiAmerican bullshit. Always looking for some way to fault a nation of strong willed people. The bomb was a great idea... too bad they didn't drop one on your grandparents home.

  • @scoopyex What the fuck you smoking???Where did I say it was a bad idea???Add to the lawsuit the fact that they apparently never taught you how to read properly either. Too bad the Book Wagon didn't visit the trailer park more often...

  • @scoopyex My Daddy was a tank driver and killed all the baddies all by himself, so that I could gwow up not speaking nazi and be an illiterate tosser!! And I fink da Amewicans are da bestist in di worldist!!!

  • @scoopyex If your Dad is still with us, wish him a Happy 4th of July for me.

  • Comment removed

  • 140000 innocend People lost her live ! Oh my Lord ! WHY ????

  • To avoid an invasion of the home islands of Japan, where 10X that many would have died....

  • @trinitymike your saying that it was a good thing to trow those bombs?

  • @trinitymike it still isnt right

  • @trinitymike Bulshit. Watch the docu called "Fog of War", in which former defense secretary Robert McNamara HIMSELF admits that Japan was willing to completely surrender and the US ignored their offers just to test the damn thing on a civilian population.

  • @jbravo41

why the hell would japan surrender 2 weeks after declaring war?

    get your facts straight.

do you think the battle of guam completely changed their minds or something?

not to mention what japan was doing to china.

not to mention the soviet occupation that japan would have incurred had we not ended that thing fast

i think anyone that knows anything about japanese history knows that had a conventional war been allowed to happen 10's of millions would have died on either side.

  • @wriquee Oh boy, is it so difficult to find that vid on youtube ? Who said two weeks after declaring war ? Japan tried to surrender the whole summer of 45, even offered total surrender. Truman ignored it just to test the bomb and to impress Stalin. He said it correctly, "if the axis powers had won, they would have put us on trail as war criminals, and rightfully so." not to mention Churchill and his plans to bomb Europe with anthrax, for which a testing Island off the Scottish coast was used.

  • @jbravo41 Exactly HOW do you TRY to surrender??? How about going on the radio & saying WE SURRENDER

Oh, that is exactly what 'god/man'hirohito did 8/15/45. 7/27/45 Allies issued Potsdam Declaration stating that J ppl would not be exterminated or enslaved, J troops could return home, freedom of religion, etc. J cbnt mokusatsu (ignored) it. At 2am 8/10/45, 3 hours after hirohito heard of Nagasaki he gave the order to accept the Potsdam Declaration. Res ipsa loquitor!

  • @jbravo41 "Those who seek to argue that Japan was ready to surrender before Hiroshima are peddlers of fantasies True, the Tokyo leadershp wanted peace, but on terms that were rightly unacceptable to theAllies"

    -Max Hastings "Retribution" p513

Even AFTER H&N 1/2 J cbnt wanted: emporer remains absolute ruler

    No occupation

    J disarms self

no war crimes trials xcpt in J tribunals

SecWar Stimson was correct: the A bombs were our "least abhorrent choice"

Too bad US didn't have them in '42

  • @kentamitchell Japan would have surrendered without the A-bomb. Conventional bombs and a tight naval blockade would have compelled Japan to surrender sooner or later. Japan could not even feed its people without importing food. Russians were smashing Japs in Manchuria and were making quick progress through China and Korea. The real reason why the bomb was used was to prevent a Communist takeover in East Asia (including Japan). The racist brutality of the US was forever exposed at Hiroshima.

  • @bossmastercheif LOL! Lectures on humanity from *Belgium*, the ppl who gave the world Rwanda & the Congo. "Racist brutality"? Delightful irony. J Army killed >10M Chinese, millions more in Vietnam, Indonesia, Burma, et. al. J as victims? Quite absurd.

"Sooner or later"? Yes, but WHEN? 1946? 1947?

Red Army inflicted big defeat on J Army in Manchuria- but had little amphib capacity- & J Navy knew it.

3 hours after hirohito heard of Nagasaki, he ordered surrender. Res ipsa loquitor!

  • @kentamitchell When u ask? Early 1946 at the latest. Yes, the J army was very brutal in its occupation of Asia. Not that the thousands of civilians incinerated in Hiroshima were to blame. Soviets already had the capacity to invade Hokkaido and in a few months could have invaded the J mainland. With the backing of the growing Japanese communist party Japan would soon become red. THAT was the real motive for Hiroshima! US version: "We only used the bomb to save lives!" What a sick parody!

  • @bossmastercheif 1. Hiroshima was hq of Japanese 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata. >40k J troops ere in the city & close to 20k-30k died in the bombing.

    2. By 1/1/46 mass starvation would've killed MILLIONS J civilians, along w/100k Allied POWs & 100k civ internees) and destruction of J rail system would've greatly hindered postwar relief efforts. As Richard Frank points out the only question is whether the blockade/invasion death toll would've been 10x or 50x higher than H&N

  • @kentamitchell Just cause Richard Frank says so doesn't make it true. I heard many historians describe less bloody alternatives to ending WW2 in the Far East without using nukes. US arguments are always the same, after killing hundreds of thousands of innocents with the deadliest weapon ever devised, they wrap themselves in a cloak of christian hypocrisy and cite humanitarian reasons. Believe what u will, but only a complete zombie or a fascist will deny that Hiroshima was a war crime!

  • @bossmastercheif Less bloody alternatives? Such as?

Compromise peace? J military retains power, plans Pacific War 2

Invade? 240,000 died on Okinawa; Kyushu's garrison was >x7 larger- do the math.

Blockade? Millions of J civilians starve

Demonstration? Gives Truman moral high ground- not a surrender (In '45 J militarists saw any humanitarian gesture as weakness) 3 days after Hiroshima- no surrender. 3 hours after hirohito heard of Nagasaki he ordered surrender.

  • @kentamitchell Detonating the bomb in an relatively unpopulated area of Japan would leave the Japs in no doubt as to its destructive potential. Add to that an ultimatum to surrender unconditionally within a week (make clear Hirohito can stay as a figurehead). If not, threaten to start using the bombs on targets like Tokyo and Osaka. This would most likely have produced unconditional capitulation and show the US as an most benign victor.

  • @bossmastercheif Red Army had extremely limited amphib capacity- would they have made a move across agreed Potsdam lines v the World's largest Navy? Of course not.

  • @kentamitchell Are u saying that the US navy would defend imperial Japan from a theoretical Russian invasion by firing on Russian troop carriers?
