@reoxex I have the JCW.... definitely worth every penny. Although you could get a mini cooper S and then get a JCW kit for a little more power, JCW intake exhaust and you get cool JCW badges =]
@RobDamnImFine I have blacked out the beltline, added a stubby antenna, and done some other minor visual mods since the video was made. I do plan on tinting the windows as well, as soon as I get a chance.
@RECodeVeronicaDC The car's computer allows it to pop in sport mode just because it sounds cool, and accompanied by the more sensitive gas pedal and tightened steering, makes the car feel significantly more sporty.
@RECodeVeronicaDC It pops because the car's computer shoots a little bit of gasoline into the exhaust system, which is very hot and explodes the gas, causing the pop noise. It will only do it once the engine has been on for a while, since the exhaust has to be very hot.
@RECodeVeronicaDC Even when driven for about 10 minutes to warm it up? Make sure the sport button is pressed. It might not do it for a while if the car is brand new, I didn't drive my car in sport mode for several hundred miles while breaking the engine in.
@celicarider2010 Antilag is not on production street cars, this "pop and burble" noise is not from an antilag system, the MINI Cooper S does not have such a system..
I want one. But when I see it in person I start to rethink. Everyone I know tells me not to get one. Lol they need a sharper more agressive front end. To wimpy or girly rt now.
@Droplip In sport mode, the MINI Cooper S adjusts the steering response, tightens the throttle response, and makes the exhaust pop. It only does it in sport mode because the pop is caused by gasoline exploding in the exhaust system, so it uses more gas than when sport mode is off. This difference isn't that noticeable though.
Sometimes it's nice to drive with sport mode off, the car is quieter without the pops and it's easy to drive it economically, with sport on it wants to go fast.
@dxsmth I could make a video of a test drive if you are interested, I simply haven't done it yet because it would be difficult to find a place to mount the camera.
does it have to be on sport mode
my2004rx8 5 days ago
@my2004rx8 In order to make the pop, yes. When the MINI is not in sport mode, the exhaust will not make that noise.

Do the older R53(up to 2006) coopers do this as well?
just527 3 weeks ago
@just527 Yes, they do pop, however they sound quite different from the R56.

you need to learn how to rev that car up, mate! You revved it like a lady.

real exhaust and popping sound: /watch?v=vb2Yv_Oq3yM
smart2cry 8 months ago
@smart2cry I revved it that way for a reason. At higher RPMs the car does not pop as much, only really below 3,000 or 2,500 RPM.

my mini is clearly more stylish.. my brother is just trying to make you feel better about yours.. stay tuned for my new video..
ps how do you get the words at the start of your video??????
cajunboy2012 8 months ago
@cajunboy2012 lol I respectfully disagree, I custom ordered my car exactly how I want it, so I love everything about it, but to each his own.
I use Windows Live Movie Maker, it's pretty simple.

Is this a stock exhaust???
RECodeVeronicaDC 9 months ago
@RECodeVeronicaDC Yes, the car is just a few months old and everything is stock.
Kev50027 9 months ago
@Kev50027 Why is poping? :P because my brother has ordered and it'll come in about a week
