.. very sad, but realistic, though it really could have been worse -- hitler had a secret passion for england, and so he let them get away at dunkirk only with a little kick in the ass. if he wanted, he could have slaughtered them utterly, it was all at his will what happened there. but he still hoped for agreement at this time. this great book shows the atrocity of war very intensly and touchingly!!!(i loved his mates, when they made fun of Rob--"looks, he´s seen another crumpet again!!")
He had hoped for an agreement because he wanted to direct all his attention toward the Soviets, who he wanted to eliminate for a long time, and who he knew would be the most difficult to defeat.
The word missing from the clip is her 'cunt.' It was removed from this clip which was released online before the movie itself was released to theaters, but it's very much so in tact in the film.
It would, of course, be the best perfume advertisement in the world with such an exquisite combination music and images. Keira Knightley really is astonishingly beautiful.
Marianelli's scores always amaze me (specifically his 2 with Joe Wright), but the use of this aria in this scene-- and in this movie was brilliant and completely moving. I think that even if you don't know the story of La Boheme, your emotions will be affected. For me though, having read the book and also being familiar with the opera, it was a highly emotional scene with the combination of the two together-- knowing what happens to both pairs of doomed lovers only magnifies the tragedy.
O soave fancuilla from La boheme like Atelbie said. I am pretty sure the wonderful singers on this particular recording are Renata Tebaldi and Jussi Bjoerling. Recorded around 1956 which yes I know is after the movie takes place. Whoops! You can't slip anything past some people. I still adore the movie anyway!

Yes very...He just knows how to take a character and make him believable. I admire actors like that. He's so funny when he writes the letter...even though it is his demise.

I LOVE THIS! They belong together... This movie is so sad. I cried at the end when you get to hear the "truth" about what happened. So sad.

This was a promotional clip that was released *before* the movie came out anywhere, so the cunt part must've been edited out.
