  • Did you ever tried the axon converter too? Apparently tracking is better ! I wonder if its that better with piezzo RMC pick up that I have in my nylon multiac .

  • Unfortunately, I never had an Axon to test, so I have never done a side-by-side comparison. However, the developer of the Axon, Andras Szalay, noted that guitar player John McLaughlin switch from using the Axon to the GI-20 beacuse he found it easier to use. Apparently many Axon users are remarking that they feel the new Roland GR-55 is the best unit yet for pitch-to-MIDI conversion. You may want to check out the MIDI guitar group on Yahoo for more discussion.

  • Wayne. Great guitar sound even without the Roland. What are you using to get your tone? It sounds like a blend of overdrive + delay (reverb?). Do tell ;-)

  • I was using the VG-88 for the overdrive/efx. I'm not sure what patch it was, but they all sound pretty great. If you power up a VG-88 without the 13-pin synth connector, it works kind of like a standard Boss multi-efx pedal.

  • @WayneJoness

Pretty expensive for an ordinary effects pedal but I may have to look around for a used one. I really like the sound.

  • Can you set the GI-20 up so that It will write out what your playing, If you have the software?

  • Yes.

  • @WayneJoness Thanks, I take it that would just be some standard Midi-compatible script editor e.g. Sibelius, Finale, etc

  • hey Wayne ! I have a question. I have a godin multiac synth connected to a GR-33. But since I dont like the patches in the GR-33 I then connect the midi out of gr-33 to midi in of a XV-5050. The sounds of xv-5050 being much better!!! Do you think using a gi-20 for tracking instead of the gr-33 will be an improvment in traking? precision ..etc ?

  • Possibly, I've never compared the MIDI out of hte GR-33, but the GI-20 certainly has more MIDI options.

  • I just got the gi-20. Yes .. trackinbg is better.. more accurate.

    Thanks!

gona put gr-33 to sell on the net.

The bend range stuff does not work at all !! losts of eratic notes.

    cheers ! Phil

  • Hey. What MIDI sound module are you using? It sounds really good. Thanks.

  • I'm using the Roland XV-5080

  • Hard to believe I work without a script!

  • Footswitch number B.....
