Back to comment once again about Joss's decision to kill Wash off.

I am a Stephen King fan and I remember when SK was in that accident that sidelined him for so long. He received so much senseless and cruel mail trying to get him to write the next DT novel.

Joss & SK shared a similar burden of distaste toward how they were being treated and (IMHO) they acted similarly.

SK wrote the last novel and killed EVERYONE you had grown to love. Joss killed off Wash...

God Wash and Zoe are one of my all time favourite T.V couples. Just because they should clash so badly. But they fit each other perfectly.

Wash is us, the show was canceled. We followed the show. This was the network saying BOOYAH! to us. Man I wish things had been different.

@my1flaming2love Way I figured it, Mal, Zoe, Wash and Kaylee were the 4 most important and none should've been killed. No point in killing Simon either because not only is he their doctor but it'd take from Kaylee's character, killing off River would definitely make the franchise less interesting, killing off Inara wouldn't make much sense, her not being the gun-slinging outlaw type and it'd disappoint fans wanting to see how things between her and Mal go.

@my1flaming2love That leaves Book and Jayne. I think it was the right decision to kill off Book if any of them. He wasn't an integral part of the crew, had left Serenity by the film and was err, closer to death (... okay, old) anyway. Jayne, dunno... maybe they could've killed him off in the film but if they kept Wash alive, increasing the possibility of sequels, I could see another war breaking out after the events of the film - Jayne could've ended up dying in them.

Zoe Was who she was when she met Wash. Wash's passing would affect Zoe as it would any of us if a loved one had passed {+} the fact that she 'LOVED' him.

I think Wash was an awesome character but his death was perfect for maximum drama. If he hadn't have died, then we'd never have Zoe as Battle Widow, Foe of Reavers.

It made me angry that oh so tough Mal can stand a stab through the gut, but Wash couldn't. Personally I think that if someone needed to die then it should have been River, I never really liked her..

In a way I agree, I wish the show hadn't been canceled. Then they could have had more story with the characters (GAH WHY THE PREACHER!?) and it would simultaneously hurt more and less.

The first time I watched it I cried. I missed a little of the battle because I couldn't see. I thought it didn't really matter anyway because my favorite character had died. but of course Joss had an awesome fight scene so now I take it back.

*wipes away tear* Aww... that was such a sweet vid. I still get choked up thinking about losing Wash, and this vid just made it hit home even harder. The song was a perfect choice and just made you feel that much worse for poor Zoe. Awesome work. A very touching vid!

You know what would be a good song for a Wash tribute... "To Live is to Fly" by The Cowboy Junkies. It's more about playing music than flying a small cargo spaceship, but I think it has the right vibe to it.

I had visions of a call-back for the series to T.V ala 'Star-trek'....I knew about the browncoat brigade....I was confident that it was simply a matter of time.

After the movie I was not in the same spirits as I had been before the movie at all. I saw the writing on the wall. Wash & Shepard were dead... the Ka-Tet was broken.

I have no illusions now that the show will ever be resurrected.....and it was sooo good. {sniff}

And then...came the fateful day...SERENITY, the 'Firefly' movie was made. I was so psyched! I made special plans. I went to a favorite restaurant I'd always wanted to go to, I bought my ticket to see Serenity before I had dinner...I was looking forward to a wonderful night....

I was so bummed....I worked A LOT while Firefly was an active series, and so never got to watch it. When I finally DID get to see an episode, I WAS HOOKED!

I began watching ALL the episodes on Sci-Xx Chan. It wasn't until I BOUGHT the DvD's that I learned the series had been cancelled for over a year....{Sniff}
