  • He rocks!

I really like the disney movies and the pixar one

  • Even with the success of THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, most of us may not still know when there will be the Third Golden Age of Disney Animation. But all we know is John Lasseter and his Disney people have managed to restore the classic Disney heritage BIG TIME!

  • I personally Loved LOve Fox ANd the hound BUt I agree he's savimg Disney, he and Bob Iger

  • after watching the princess and the frog i have to say one thing.......

    this man already saved disney!!!!!

  • I'm so glad they're bringing traditional animation back to Disney. But what are they going to do about Disney Channel or Disney XD? Wait, that's a whole other story. We're talking about movies.

I like 3D Disney movies. I have yet to see most of them. G-Force looks very cute, and so does Up and Wal-E. They should focus less on Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers and focus more on making good movies, and leave cartoony 3D films to Pixar imo. Disney can handle realistic 3D films though. :)

  • The 3D Movies are good, but it's just... they don't have the same magic the classical Disney Movies have. They should do both but leave 3D to Pixar... THANK GOODNESS that Disney is finally back.

  • Pixar are the masters of 3D Animation, they've been doing it for years, they've got everything down, they know how to capture the audience.

  • babycinnamon84: I agree 100% with you. As much as I like Pixar I love Disney's animated movies better.

  • THIS VIDEO HAS MADE MY DAY! who the hell thought 3D disney films would be a good idea? the experiment is over guyssss, DISNEY'S BACK

  • Bolt was good

  • We don't care if you're late. Keep John talking. =^)

    - TAE

  • Pixar is amazing...but i think they should keep the 3-D in THAT company, but with origanl disney animation, keep it with the magic they had before

  • Sometimes 3Ds are good but it is when they do shitty 3D films with bad plots and puns that has been heard a gazillion times.............now that's annoying

  • i'm curious. Explain some of the horrible 3-D movies. I'm not flaming or anything, but i'm wondering... with all this attention gone to hannah montana and jonas brothers on tv because of my siblings, what is happening in the animation world here?

  • this men will stop the disney dark age when the princess and the frog and other proyects comes out

  • i heard he's gonna be the new slinky in toy story 3 since the actor who did the voice for slinky died a year later Toy Story 3

  • 2D YEAH

  • and he will

  • and he will

  • and he will conradojavier, he will stop the disney dark age

  • Any signs that Disney will start turning with John Lasseter will be clear by the end of this year.

Good luck, John. I really hope you can pull it off.

  • They need to make another movie like Beauty and the Beast(not the story line but the amazingness of it)

  • He should stop the Disney Darkage.

  • Do you mean like the disney deaths?

    e.g Mufasa in Lion King.

  • I think he is going to be the reason why Disney will start to make great 2D movies again. He was the one who opend 2D animtion again at Disney and the Princess and the frog looks great. Kind of iroinc since disney fired him when he was he was one of their animoters.

  • Truthfully, I'd like it very much if the Disney movies were like Beauty and The Beast or Tarzan - 2D FTW, but still used some CGI for backgrounds and stuffs. And come on, people, Pixar made AWESOME movies. It's possible if Disney go to classic hand drawn movies and Pixar continue his business, so we get double the thrill. :]

Oh, and some Disney sequels aren't half bad. I personally LOVE Peter Pan II, and Little Mermaid III was great! ^^

  • this made my day :) hopefully success from princess and the frog will fuel another renaissance for 2D Disney films. One day i am determined to be a part of it, this time next year i want to be studying animation production at university, and hopefully reach my dream of being a Disney animator in the future =)

  • if it wasnt for this guy disney would have already bit the dust...well it did already and all they had left was pizar, but since this guy has managed to get them to go back to good old hand drawings with no cg i think disney has finnaly learned its leasson....oh wait Rapunzel is cg...well its a start

  • It's CG is the style of pastel colors and oil paintings, which is pretty awesome

yeesh, people act like cg is the devil...

  • Disney had excellent movies in the past that were hand drawn. But where are you to sit there and say that cg movies are not as great as hand drawn.

    Ratatouille - CG

    Finding Nemo - CG

    The Incredibles - CG

    Cars - CG

One of my Favorites Monsters inc.

Man there are a ton of CG animation movies that give the life and emotion to a movie like the old disney movies did.

The only thing that I believe the movies lack now a days is the orchestrated music that we had in the old movies.

  • Ya pop music isn't that endearing. <.<; I hate pop music in films in generally. Usually song doesn't go with the mood or it's they just add in a random happy montage scene just to have the crappy pop song.

Orchestrate yes as long it doesn't cross the line of musical, which is on suitable for a certain kind of film.

  • Well, there was also toy story.

Plus that had an amazing musical score

  • I trust the man for anything he does or deems good. He has great taste, which had me believe that we're gonna have another disney classic out of The Princess and the Frog.

  • It is going to be more of the frog princess, not nessesarily following the story line but i cant wait!

  • im happy to hear bout 2D's return to Disney. BUT....because i grew up on the early 90's movies these 2 new films have alot to live up to in my eyes. i love the musical/fairy tale aspect of the old Disney movies. it was so magical & a big part of my life. ive been waiting a long time for this to happen so i hope John can repair all the things Michael distroyed.

  • Can't wait for the 2D

  • This man is a genius. He's like another Walt Disney. No doubt in my mind that something that comes from him will turn out well, so I have high hopes that The Princess and the Frog will bring Disney another 2D renaissance.

  • Yay for 2D, but I don't get all the negativity towards 3D animation. It's just another way to animate something and it has it'd benefits over 2D quite frankly. Variety is important! There's hand drawn, CGI, and stop motion to choose from. Each have their benefits and downsides. CGI has reached the point where it's actualy pretty to look at too. It's the story and characters that count, style comes last.

  • It's just left-over anger from when 2D was abandoned in favor of 3D. It'll pass soon, just like every trend.

  • 3D sucks

  • Look at his T-shirt

    !

  • Honestly, Me To!- I Am So Happy That 2-D Is Back!

  • they need to stop the CGI and go back to traditional animation. traditional animation shows more effort and CGI is kinda ugly.

  • they need to stop the CGI and do traditional animation. it shows more effort and CGI is kinda ugly

  • I am so happy I could cry that 2D is coming back! I'm an animation student who has spent the last ten years mostly struggling to save enough money to go to animation school, and the whole reason was for 2D, esp the musicals. I had thought my efforts wasted until now, with 2D being all but eliminated these last few years. 3D is all right when it's done right, but nothing compares to 2D animation. It's great to see I'm not the only one crying out for the traditional animated styles!

  • IMO The Disney movies of today, have a certain charm, but nothing can touch the Disney movies of old. There doesn't seem to be the warmth that there once was. It's like so many things entertainment these days, Once a movie does well, before you know it, there's a sequel. It just seem to me that it's more about making a buck, than it is about doing something special for the kids. Walt Disney never came across that way. I may be wrong, but that's my opinion

  • Honestly, I don't see why everyone thinks "Classic Disney" means it HAS to be 2D. Yes, their old cartoons were 2D, but we watched them for the storyline. Whether it's 2D or 3D in my mind doesn't matter as long as the story is great.

  • I always thought it was understood that the only Disney movies that mattered ware the first versions, we all know DIsney's sequels are just for cash only. They know it, and we know it. So i think we should only judge Disney based on the original works, and forget the sequels and all the other for cash only purpose things they come out with. They are a business after all.

  • @kernel

acaulty the seuqels are just as good, their better than the teen shit that is infestign disney now

  • so nice to hear people miss 2d animation ;) keep demanding it!!!! so 2d animators as me could be back too!!!! 3d and 2d can work together, the problem is business, if everybody wants more 3d now, they make movies in 3d, but, hey!! one technique doesn't have to kill the other.

  • ever since i was little i always looked up to disney classical movies they always taught the way of life.

    HSM

    hannha montana

    camp rock

    thats shit

    thats not disney

disney is not just some cartoon labled disney company

disney is something that believes and makes a child goes

    "Mommy, i will always believe."

its touching dreams and classics always stole a kids even adults hearts and

  • He has the right mind set. Let the guys who know what goes into it do it. Let them be creative and the movie comes out better. Also all hand drawn as he said would be amazing idea. Makes it look like old Disney ^_^

  • Its so stupid Disney never make a good old teniccolor more evrything shot be annimated man it stinks !

  • I prefer the 2d original animation as well. They spend so much time on trying to make the animation look like real people... If they wanted it to look like real people, they should have hired actors and made it live action! I'm extremely excited for The Princess and the Frog.

  • 2d animation is coming back next year with princess and the frog from Walt Disney Animation Studios

  • Please bring back 2D animation, I get so nostalgic since I grew up with old school Disney that I love. We dont care if its in 3D, I just want a good story line and classic movie that will last through the ages.

Children will only like Hannah Montanna in there "tween" years, Iv'e love the Lion King since the day it came out. Timeless and Trends; theres a big difference.

  • Once upon a time... Disney made good movies. I think the last good movie they made was Tarzan. After that it was all a bunch of really bad second parts, 3D movies and stupid Hannah Montana shows. Disney is now a joke. I think that if Walt Disney could see this he would have a serios depression.

  • Sorry, but you're wrong and you know that you're wrong!

  • I grew up watching the old Disney movies almost everyday.

    Looking back, Disney really changed.

It's not about the storyline anymore.

It's more, like, the graphix and sound system...:(

You know, sometimes I wonder if those Disney creators know that we actually want the old Disney back...

  • how did thelion king turn into hannah montana???

  • What I hate now is that you can see computer generated shows and movies everywhere. But IMO, only Pixar movies live up to their expectation and they're all great, the only one I didn't like so much was cars because it had very little "action" and I haven't seen Ratatouile, but Toy story, The incredibles, Wall-e and Up for example are great masterpieces.

  • you should see ratatouile, it was really cute and funny, a very good movie

  • Cars was a good movie, but you are right. the only action was the racing and that wasn't much, but the heart of the movie is very charming. Whenever I watch it i get in a really great mood :)

  • Agreed. Disney shouldn't be making any more 'teens-related' shows, I too grew along with many of the disney movies back in the 90's.

I wish I can be an animator working in Disney, even though I live far from USA... I love drawing cartoons, and I hope I'd be able to achieve my dreams =]

  • I really feel you cause I'm in the same situation. Work hard and do it the best you can and maybe one day we'll see our names in the credits of some great Disney movies. "With the talents of...", like it used to be :D

At least that's what I'll do!

Good luck and best regards ;)

  • this man knows what hes talking about. children should grow up learning the lessons that disney teaches them, not watching these new disney shows like hannah montana. i do feel that lasseter can restore the glory disney movies once had. the handdrawn movie that's soon to come out is rather exciting, knowing that new generations will be exposed to similar kinds of things that constructed the foundation of my childhood. KIds need the kinds of things disney has provided to children prior to now

  • Exactly... its teaching kids to lie, date, kiss, act crazy, disobey their parents... and LIE again.

That's why I despise Disney Channel with a passion. -_-

  • please no more 3D! Bring back the movies from the 80s-90s! Little Mermaid and Hercules and all those great movies! PLEASE!

  • I know it sounds cliche, but it's true... if he can't, nobody can, that's for sure

  • All I can say is THANK THE GODS FOR THIS MAN!!!! As someone on this forum said, if anyone can bring Disney back to its golden days, it's John Lasseter!!!! From Toy Story to Up, his movies have brought the Magic back to Disney and I KNOW that The Princess and the Frog will be the beginning of the 3rd Golden Age for Disney! :D What I love about him is he doesn't believe in "yes-men" and he encourages creativity, knowing the key to a good film is good story and characters! :D

  • Bring back Alan Menkin and the original musical creators, find some traditional stories, use 2-D animation, and return to the glory days of the 90s.

  • Reply to KHlovechild- Yes! Yes! and another YES!! I totally and competely AGREE with you! I even made a video about it! =)

  • well they might also try using the traditional 3D style of Pixar, but if would be nice to try to recreate those traditional styles. I loved those movies.

  • Nah Pixar is great. Don't copy it. Return to traditional 2D

  • Yea. Why do they ignore such a simple but effective formula?

  • Go John! Give us back our Disney!

  • Yeah Alan Menken is going to compose Rapunzel in 2010. Ready or not, here comes the second Disney Renaissance!

  • YES!!! Alan Menken WILL bring Disney back to life!!

  • bolt was a very good movie, i've enjoyed it

  • have 2say disney is a massive let down over past yrs not magic like B4 i take my son &its all comedy now the gags R really4 the adults! here is a list of family/childrens movie NONE DISNEY most are better than the rubbish thats gettin out 2day by disney & pixar wheres the magic gone? the princess &the goblin, The princess & the pea - My kingdom of the heart, Quest for Camelot the secret garden, the nut cracker, thumbelina, a little princess, the swan princess, the iron gaint.

  • bolt was just bad:(

  • Fellow Church Of Christ memeber

    Whittier California

  • I can't stand musicals!

  • I don't understand the Frog Princess. I mean its great that they're considering a black princess but if they wanted an american princess why didn't they choose an American fairytale? The frog princess is Russian, not American. The other fairytales were placed beautifully in thier countries of origin. Like Belle in France and pinnochio in Italy etc. If I was Russian I would feel utterly robbed. Anastasia doesn't count, it's not Disney. I don't hink Walt Disney ever used an American Princess.

  • Unless you coun't Native American Pocohontas...?...But Walt wasn't alive for that movie.

  • hmmmm I think Pinnochio is in Switzerland...

  • Bolt was fantastic.

  • Disney have just really ripped off the classics so many times that its become absolutly rediculious. It's ashame for those great classics to keep being remade into terribly horrible spin offs.

  • Ok first off. Disney keeps the annoying crappy sequals coming because it helps with the balance of the franchise.

    Yes they are absolutely horrible.

But they arnt made by Walt Disney Animation. There made by disneytoon, which is a seperate company. If your a disney fan, you know that disney separates there true master arts, from there junk. Other then annoying sequals, disney doesnt do much ripping off.

  • i totally agree with you! but i mean once pixar went to disney or with disney......they started the toy story sequals...

  • Wrong....Pixar went into partnership with disney as a wholly owned company right b4 CARS was in production. Toy Story 2 i assume is what your refering to as the sequel. That was done after signing the first original contract with Disney that almost forced Pixar to fail. Pixar secured themselves by becoming complete partners with ahving Jobs in charge of most the entertainment, Lasseter as head of all things animation. Toy story wouldn't ever exist if it wasnt for Disney intervening.

  • Disney in the past few years has gone a total revamp of the politics within the company. Michael Eisner RUINED Disney's name. Eiger along with Steve Jobs and John Lasseter are bring the magic back. Peopel can gripe about what happened in the past 10-15 years all theey want. Right now, even with the original animators that re still alive, they believe Lasster to be an image of Walt himself in many ways, we will see the Disney magic reappear soon enough.

  • Correction: Bad sequels are NOT being made anymore!

They stopped doing them once Lassetter and his Pixar peeps came aboard.

  • @lion

the seuqels are just as good, they are better than the teen shit like miely

im a diehard disney fan, and i knwo the differecne between the moives and seuqles to the live action teen real people shit people flock to these days. Hell Kingdom Hearts has more class, and its half japanese.

  • Kingdom Hearts kicks live action Disney's ass.

Pixar is the only thing keeping the company afloat in terms of beauty and art. As a sellout, Disney's actually doing pretty well and should (not) be applauded for their success.

    P.S. Disney is planning a 2D musical!!!

And its gonna be done by the same people that are doing their best work?!!!!

Thats so crazy it just might work!!!!

  • what do you mean 'as a sellout'? Disney bought Pixar, not te other way around, so technically Pixar's the sell out.

  • I had a chance to interview John as well. The sincerity you see in this video is real and I know if anyone can put Disney back on the right track its John and Ed. There's lots of people working really hard to make this happen so lets wait till the movies come out to judge the situation. Personally I think Bolt was a huge improvement.

  • With disney they have ripped off all the classics so many times that people like myself who love the classics like "The Little Mermaid", "Snow white", "Cinderella" feel like they've nothing new to give anymore and its sad for those great movies to be shown the way they are! "I watched "Atlantis" when it came out and I LOVED it and then I saw they where making a 2nd I thought hm watching it really shows you what a mess disney are now. The animation is crap and no where near as great as it was!

  • I totally agree! They can't make anything new unless it has a weak storyline, terrible 'modern' music and computer generated pictures with no love in them. So they kill the classics by feeding from them instead. If they adapt Snow White I will personally protest outside Disney Studios. It's murder on a gross scale. x

  • haha

"nice to meet you, you're old!"

nice way to warm up to the interview.

  • oh yes, the bolt shirt rocks!

  • loving that bolt shirt

  • I am a recent subscriber and love your interviews, keep it up!

  • He's wearing a Bolt shirt! That's cool. :-)

  • nice=)
