At best, these kids parents were kids when Eddie Hazel wrote this. Young lady, you've done a superior job of trying to nail the nuances of the solo. It sounds like you've listened to the song a lot but try backing off the gain on the amp. It's distorting and takes away from the effect. Dude on the bass: good@steady. Too many little Jaco wannabes out there.

The violin tone is interesting. At times its shrill but other times its way better than anything I've been able to accomplish playing distorted on violin. I used to have a zeta and just didnt like the way the fingerboard felt. How do you get the chunky tone? What's your setup if you don't mind me asking?

This girl's technical virtuosity is beyond question. My comment was about the tone. At times it sounds comparable to Eddie Hazel's tone, but as usual, playing violin like a distorted guitar results in some overly shrieky moments. Overall decent tone though, perhaps you didn't really understand WTF my point was...

Wow, not only do you have the soul, feel, and spirit of this amazing song, but you show the universal genius I always knew was there--I have always felt, that if Robert Johnson crossed the North-South leg of the Cross-Roads then "Maggot Brain" was somewhere on the East-West side... I definitely get that feeling from this version. After all, didn't the devil / pitch play a violin? :)
