yes, this is problematic.

If you feel you might be too qualified for a position, its best not to mention you have a degree or whatever... try and think about what type of person they want to hire. For instance, if you applying for a job in the building trade, like a bricklayer or whatever, it wouldn't be a bad idea to swear a few times at the interview, or stare at the female interviewee and give her a cheeky wink.

Yes, it's a little too "cool" - hitting all of the key words, but the personality doesn't come across. An interviewer would still not have a sense of what makes this person tick. Plus, who talks that way, in real life? The first video was longer, but showed more of the total picture of how she responds in a particular situation.

Hobbies-not so appropriate. Better to discuss volunteer experiences that demonstrate your character & who you are under stressful situations.

One of the most important things I've gotten out of my last interview is that you really need to know what you would do in given situations that may occur in the job you are applying for.

The problem here is, the employer gets no sense of who you are as a person, This is all the professional front. They do want to know all these things and see your communication skills, but if you don't let any of your natural personality shine through, or hint at the fact that you have hobbies or interests... things to motivate you... then they will feel like you are hiding something from the. Become suspicious. This person seems technically perfect for the role... but is not likable.

I wish interviews utilised a language game that is normative. Why, "tell me about yourself", equates to, "sell me yourself", is bizarre.

Answering this question also entails that the interviewer is actually trained in hearing a reply.

I completely agree with you. This is a pretty awful answer to the posed question. I have a friend that interviews people all day long, and he says the most common mistake people make is that they ramble on when asked to talk briefly about themselves. He says you should keep it to 30 seconds - 1 minute.

I agree with you LynneDiann82! I used to be great at interviews and ALWAYS got every job I interviewed for. My answers were fairly spontaneous with just a general idea in advance of what I might say.

Then I had a couple of really important interviews for great jobs. So I went online and found all the questions interviewers typically ask and I prepared memorized, rehearsed answers. The result was I rambled on too long and it sounded rehearsed. I didn't get those jobs but I learned my lesson!
