It also depends on when you did your shot and when you had your blood drawn. If you were almost due for another shot and you had your blood tested for T levels then, then it makes sense that they would be somewhat lower. Even still, 574 doesn't seem like a low level. Everyone's transition progresses at different rates. You seem to be coming along quite well.
thank you for your advice, i appreciate it! the blood was taken the morning before i received my weekly shot, so that makes perfect sense. take care, meiko.
Hey Nick man I been on "T" 10 mos and I've been on half cc 200mg every Friday but now I'm on .75 now still every week.. Average adult is 241-827 and that's your Peak & Trough each is the levels.. Also Don't ever change anything unless your Doc. tells you to if he/she has you on the amount then it not going to make anything move any quicker actually you will be making it worse for your body instead of good... Peace Man!! Change will come some ppl slow some fast but it will come..
I now take 100 per week. I inject once per week to eliminate the highs/lows of taking T. That way I get a constant dose. When I injected once every two weeks I would get real moody 2-3 day before my shot. I'm at 6.5 months.
My md had me at 1cc/200ml per week and my levels were 1200; which also doubled my e levels. Not good, switched to 1/2cc/100 per week. Will probably switch to an endo with trans experience. take it easy.
How did you get Kaiser to cover the blood test for testosterone? My bf went to his Dr and the guy basically said that they don't cover that or testosterone.
We spoke to a benefits person and they said that if the Dr had knowledge that my bf was taking testosterone, then he could order the test to be sure the level wasn't too high. But then the Dr said that there aren't any maximum levels for testosterone in a genetic female.
i'm not really sure what i did/my doctor did. i called kaiser to hook me up with a physician who was familiar with trans patients. i think they just sent me to a doctor who has a 'lgbt' tag in their information. the doctor didn't ask me many questions at all.. just asked what i needed - i told him i was due for blood work and a new bottle of testosterone. nothing seemed to be any issue. i got the bottle and the blood work. if your bf lives in the bay, i could tell him what my doctor's name is..
as far as the facial hair goes, from what i've heard it usually takes anywhere from 2-3 years to get the max normal growth. usually guys have to shave a sparse and uneven growth up until that point.
do you have bros or cousins? i know from looking at my bro that i will probably not ever get a lot of growth. he has almost no facial hair... my dad also doesn't have the capability for a full beard.
Don't up your level, it takes time to have your voice change. If you're not satisfied with the level of voice change, then you should start with voice coaching or self-training. It DOES help.
Upping your level on your own will just cause problems. It's easily the #1 reason why transpeople have trouble getting on hormones later on, lose surgery opportunities and it can cause serious blood clotting issues.
Also, most natural body changes are SUBTLE. Like, very subtle. To change them by any really noticeable amount you'd need to start training. Working out, weight lifting, maybe even modifying your diet if you need to.
My arms are large and my pecs are large because I lift heavy things, not helped by T at all. Keep in mind that your body changes may be limited by your bone structure and pre-existing muscle masses.
NO DONT DO IT. it will cause your H& H levels to SKYROCKET, and that can cause clots and strokes and death. DO NOT up your own level. Seriously. It's bad news. remember this... It takes YEARS for a biomale to achieve their voice and facial hair and other changes. It's not like they wake up and viola! they are a man! It takes years. And it will take you years as well. Stop rushing it. U'll only put your health in danger! It's not worth it.
My doctor told me that I should keep my levels between 3-800. 574 seems like a decent level. If you start giving yourself more, testosterone will start converting back to estrogen and could cause some FTMs to cycle.
Typical male range of testosterone is 500-800 or something. I think you should be alright. I think when I last checked my levels were somewhere in the upper 400s (I tried looking for the exact number in my LJ and I guess I didn't mention it). But yeah, you should be all good.
