There are plenty of good leather treatments to SEAL the leather of the handle and the sheath - and retain the original good looks. Lube the blade after cleaning. stonenstrop
@sae1095hc Try the Ontario 498, it has the Parkerized style finish and is about 10-20.00 cheaper than the USMC Ka-Bar and the closest thing to the old Camillus ones, take care!
you know i never liked the kabar short in pictures i rly didnt get it so i didnt bother looking to see if their was a vid on it but now seeing it in hands idk im falling for it like i did its big sister lmao
Hey man, im a fan but just a warning. In the U.S. If you use a blade in ANY way, pommel, spine of the blade, whatever. It is considered lethal force in court. Just a friendly warning. :)
@CutleryNovice Thats for sure haha, i was referring more towards 2 legged predators ;) If a rabid dog bit me on the street i would stab the fuck out of it. :|
@RENOGUY777 Ha ha I got a police baton for the two legged ones, granted they could call the cops but he'd have to remember my face afterwards to report me, I don't think he'd be able to ha ha
@ShawDAMAN When you're using the knife outdoors, the leather sheath will absorb water and moisture causing the blade to rust up pretty quick. The advantage of a kydex (plastic) sheath is that it doesn't absorb water.
@ShawDAMAN Just because as a tactical knife it's not a quick extraction sheath, for survival the leather will soak up water and rust this carbon steel blade, take care!
CroVan is one of the most common blade steels, it has been called about a half a dozen trade names. The actual name is 50100-B. It has a small amount of chromium, about 0.6% hence the elevated level of corrosion resistance. This also was at one point Carbon V from Cold Steel, Case used it as did Camillus. Manufactures like it as it is a bit more forgiving during hardening.
@CliffStamp You always seem to have great info, I think I could learn alot from you so I could further distribute information on my channel if you wouldn't mind informing me on some things, take care!

wow, glad I checked your channel. This vid didn't show up in my subs box. Anyway, great review!

I wish Kabar offered their Marine-type knives with the original Parkerized finish, imo far superior to any kind of paint.
It's too bad Camillus went out of business, their rendition of the USMC knife had a primary grind that started 3/16-1/4" higher up.

good review. i'm curious as to why the plastic sheath is so superior in your opinion to the leather?
