Dude in the last post calls her "geek girl" and she does look geek, but definitely cute. I'd date the geek girl. lol Yeah, I know, off the subject but just wanted to address the mean comment with a nice one. ;-)
It isn't wise to wear a sweatshirt when you mess with computer parts because they rub against your shirt and then it creates static and you don't even notice
yeah you do need to touch metal before touching electronics but you must touch something metal that it grounded, not just any metal like you did because you don't discharge yourself properly, but otherwise, cool videos
What I am about to say is a public service announcement to everyone. What really determines how much RAM you can use isn't your processor, it's your OS. Almost all processors now support 64-bit OS's which is what you need to utilize 4gb of RAM and above. All versions of OS 10 are 64-bit so you can install up to 128gb of RAM and it will all be used. But just because your OS will support a ton of RAM doesn't mean your motherboard will. Also you applied to much uneven pressure to the RAM.
umm i have a couple of things to say, one is that all your videos rock , two should i let apple put in my 4gb ram or should i just buy it and do it home by my self , three have a safe holiday :)
Im thinking of getting the New Macbook 2.4Ghz , 320GB HD but im debating on the 2GB Ram or 4GB. Do you think its worth getting it done by Apple in my order , Or waiting and getting it upgraded at a later date?
quick question, one day i took out my macbook battery and i put it back in and when i turn the coin latch thing back it broke off, my battery is locked in so thats good but im wondering if this is covered under warrenty
Yeah thats a good upgrade. Your MacBook's chipset should be able to utilize about 3.3 gigs of memory. So you'll be using most of the 4 gig. Also with the matched pairs, you'll be running dual channel for additional for additional speed. It will be noticeable faster.
btw you didn't actually ground yourself and you could of still caused damage to your mac book as the scissors you touched were not attached to earth so the electricity didn't go anywhere.
the best way to do it is touch a cold water pipe as they have a wire on them that takes any charge out of your body straight to earth.
Yeah but the chances of actually damaging equipment with static electricity is so slim. First with a MacBook like this, she wasn't touching any of the electronics inside the MB. She was simply inserting the RAM sticks into the slots. Similar to the way you would insert a CD into the CD-ROM slot. Just avoid rubbing your stocking feet on carpeting before doing it, and everything should be fine.
You should always ground yourself when working with sensitive electronic equipment especially in computers laptop or otherwise, the best way to do it is touch a cold water pipe as they have a wire on them that takes any charge out of your body straight to earth.
Thanks for your help! I really wanted to upgrade my Macbook's ram but just couldn't find a good video form the how-to. So thanks again, you did a great job (as usual! :) ).
thanks, helpful video !

I strongly suggest you order the ram yourself and installing without Apple. They usually way over charge for ram upgrades.

I think it won't be covered by the warranty due to the fact that it was self inflicted, but always always double check with Apple.

"A ram upgrade is a very easy way of making your system faster"
But you had to touch something grounded.
and i think you don't need to do that inside of a laptop.
