Glads could do it because DaD lost Dimension Fusion, and they got Gyzarus, Prisma, and Darius, recently which lead to consistent 1st turn Heraklinos plays which dominated every deck in the meta. Monarchs dont make half of the impact Gladiator Beasts do, and Gladiator Beasts run all of those cards you mentioned with the exception of Gardna& Spy.

The thing is Glads are really aggressive and can grab lots of different monsters and use individual multiple effects each turn, while Monarchs use one.

Andal was good as well because almost ALL of the field at Worlds were Gladiator Beasts. Now, i dont know if you know this but Gladiator Beasts have a really small weakness; they cant attack over 1900 monsters unless they tag out for Laquari, but they can't tag out for Laquari because they cant get over Andal's 1900 atk without a tagged Laquari which is impossible for them when going up against Andal,also did not have Test Tigers as a choice because of Japan so they couldn't Tiger into Murmillo.

yes i agree with both of ur comments and i know there wasnt a test tiger as you said that i fgured out that since Spy would be in defense mode they could attack it take, 300-500 points of damage and then search out a Laquari and get the power to destroy spy.

Monarchs will be able to get faster IF they get the right support like Gladitor Beast did and lightsworns did and zombies too

When this card is summoned, you can destroy 2 cards on the field. When this cards is destroyed, destroy every card on your opponents side of the field and you take x100 points of damage for each card.

That would be amzing control, and it has a killer effect with a deadly cost your opponent could use to kill you depending on the situation But you know if they did come out with a card like that, it would end up being a secret rare

Monarchs were better last format because Gladiator Beasts were not fast, giving Monarchs some time to set-up Control.

Gladiator Beasts were pure control, as were Monarchs, meaning that the tempo was severely decreased as opposed to DaD Return, giving Monarchs a chance to shine again.

but look at some of their best cards: Celestia (basicly a monarch with a lightsworn name), Caius i have seen 2 in Teledad and Zombie builds, but if u played a monarch build like that it would work better, also alot of monarch builds that played at SJC's after phantom had dark arms sided to help speed the deck look at it like this take teledad and put in monarchs in the places of: Diamond Dude(raiza), in the place of Necro Gardna (usally 2) 2 thestolos and you have a basic telemonarch deck

Tele-DaD can't really afford to run Monarchs though, because they need to use Normal Summons on stuff like Krebons/Diamond Dude/Doom Lord. Diamond Dude is actually pretty important to Tele-DaD, and Necro Gardna is really easily dumped by Dark Grepher in standard builds. Diamond Dude and Necro Gardna are also Darks, which benefit fueling DaD, Allure, and Destiny Draw. Monarchs are great late game, but only late game, and can eat up draws late game, which is really bad for Tele-DaD.

Monarchs require a tribute, eating up your normal summon and targeting one card. That is not a fast effect at all, and no amount of cards can make that fast.

Monarchs are meant for Control, not Speed.

And also, DaD Return w/ Dimension Fusion was pretty much a FTK. I wouldnt say that Tele-DaD is necessarily faster than DaD Return w/ Dimension Fusion.

The problem is, Tele-DaD can drop a total of 2 really big Level 8 Synchros while keeping their dark count at 3, being able to drop DaD, which means they have an army of 2500+ ATK Monsters that have the ability to destroy 3 cards on the field during that turn.

Lightsworn can also drop lots of monsters via Lumina and Wulf, while leading off with a quick JD/Double JD play, which is completely devestating.

Hate to break it to you man but Monarchs never have, and never will be fast. They are all about controlling the tempo of the duel with their effects. The issue is Tele-DaD and LS have already done some serious damage [most often] by the time you can drop a Monarch, and by that time a Monarch is really not going to be able to do much, because they couldn't stop the overextension and the beating that comes with LS and Tele-DaD decks. Monarchs are just not very strong this format :[

You're comparing two completely different kinds of decks.

You see Monarch monsters are just naturally slow. Tribute a monster, and target 1 card on the field or the hand. And after that, they're nothing but 2400 beatsticks.

DaD hits the field with a Special Summon, 2800 ATK, and destroys 3 cards maximum, and his effect can be used as many times as you want per a turn throughout the whole duel.
