i agree praptolium + you need to produce more emotion cause the notes with emotions are just notes (meaning less) no offence i wish i could play like you but with more (passion and emotion) :D good luck on that
I think it would be better if you played much softer, even though it's VERY difficult... You also need to play with much more rubato, especially when introducing the first theme, i think you really need to lean on the semi quaver before that bar.
I would also play it slower
but essentially you need to play it with more feeling - not so mechanical...
yea it's good but it has 0 feelings added to the song so it's boring as fuck. Add feeling, and when you do, you pause naturally. You're just playing the song softly. BIG difference.
Well played, with a little more expression & dynamics as previously suggested it could be even more beautiful... having offered the benefit of my professional advice, I wish I stuck to my piano lessons instead of reading the Beano....
I have a few comments. First of all good over all. At the begining start of softer and add a light touch to the keys. Also you are covering up the melody which needs to be heard. Also throughout the peice try to play it much softer and the effect you will have on you listeners will be astonishing. But over all good job.
To people who believe he's playing too fast, the purpose is the feel that the player puts into it, so there's a lot of personnal touches to it. I for instace would play the G sharps a little louder and after each 3 notes of the first part of the song get a little quieter. There's nothing wrong with what he's done, it's his interpretation.
This is a beautiful piece and you have recorded with beautiful sound! However, for constructive criticism's sake, you must feel the piece also with have proper dynamics; also fingering. You have a wonderful start!
the piece is very good and sound, but you have to give that thing you need is the rhythm, if not sound very fast and can not be assessed as it is, well it's just a comment, I hope you take into account and still good video
@jgooooooo I dont understand! if u r a real piano player, there is no need for tutorials. Tutorials are for people who are lazy! Go find sheet music! actually take the time to read it. There is free sheet music for this magnificent piece everywhere and still people choose tutorials! This person actually took the time to read through the sheet music. And in my opinion he did a fabulous job with this extraodinary piece. -.-
im all new too classical music im more for rock and stuff like that but i like it plus its well hard its hard to put it into words.... any way nice playing
Nice to hear a real piano! If I could make a couple suggestions: There are a few wrong notes and some fingering mistakes...but it would be better if you could play the melody as the dominate notes and throw some emotion in it. You tend to play all notes the same volume whereas it is to be played with the rhythm soft and the leading notes (melody) played slightly louder. Think of it as one playing a melody over their own accompaniment. Best wishes!
This is a beautiful and challenging piece. Even though Beethoven was BLIND and DEAF. He did a good job! I am learning this song on the piano now, and Flight Of The Bumblebee to play at my piano recital at the end of this year. (: Try Flight Of The Bumblebee if youu haven't yet. (: NICE PLAYINGG!! ;D
I wrote that a long time ago. and yeah, Beethoven was deaf and blind. as you can see i put Beethoven, cause he did an amazing job writing this songgg.
You play really well, may I suggest something? Try to use your fingers in a more 'dynamic' way, it will allow the sounds to melt in a less sloppy way. (I'm not saying it's sloppy, just a little too 'lazy')...
Hey this is truly wonderful, youve done a fantastic job adn your grandparents would be very proud of you. I cant find the sheet music for this anywhere do you think you could send me your copy of it please? Im actually trying to learn it so I can impress someone I like then ask them out.
this is the best one i've watched yet...and i've been watching for about an hour...lol. you really played it like it's suppose to be played. yes, i've heard slower, but who's to say what is right...or wrong. beautiful!
a little faster than what was intended, pay attention to the louds and softs and the parts when you have to slow down, you cant just play the whole thing the same
There are no tempo markings (or dynamic markings for that matter) on the earliest scores of it. Not only that, but the original instructions were to keep the sustain pedal held throughout .... though modern pianos have a much longer sustain than pianos of Beethoven's time making that a problem. Therefore everyone has a different interpretation that is completely valid and neither wrong nor right.
hey friend, it was just a personal comment you play very well for me it was not too fast but it could be more quietly because in the begining of the sheet you can see the follow " PP, pianissimo: A part of a composition played very softly or quietly. but doesn't matter you play like you want =)
It is too fast - listen to one of the early recordings of this piece - theres a much slower and quiet feel to it - in this is just bar.. after bar.. theres no expression, theres no good pedal work, theres no use of dynamics either.. its just blocky..
@steveharley0345 Recordings are meaningless. I've heard several professional recordings that are all at different tempos. Which tempo you like best is personal preference. There is no "correct" tempo to play this at. I agree that this particular recording is lacking in dynamics though. That can happen if you're reading from the page. I find dynamics and expression comes easier when playing from memory.
@AJpianoUK AJpianoUK, that was a very interesting fact about the song. I had absolutely no idea. I really appreciate the information and input. Thank you
Just uploaded my own recording of this if you're interested. Mine needs a few improvements too, but it's a slightly slower interpretation.
audio only though. My camera sucks for video recording so i just added photos. Wish I could read and play at the same time like that. I have to learn things and then play from memory. It does let me concentrate more on dynamics though, like you said in another comment.
With there being little dynamic variation in this piece, it leaves it open to many different interpretations of phrasing and varitaion in timing at different points. Although you did have some element of phrasing I think theres room for a lot more. Just some constructive criticism.
I was aware that in my previous videos, the sound was very bad because of the "fluttering" sound, due to it being too loud, so I played a bit more quietly in order to get the sound, but just enough to not break into that annoying sound. :P
YES! Of course! If you haven't heard my Sadame [2] video yet, that was recorded with, I believe, a regular Canon camera, though I forgot how many Megapixels it contained.. This one, I used a JVC Camcorder. Pretty nice camera, but a drag to convert files with. It's an Everio JVC, Hard Disk Camcorder.

Extra-effin-ordinary!!!!! Totally flawless!! This is my only favourite classical tune. I wanna learn how to play this..can just about manage the first note lol.
i've never had a piano lesson in my life and i can now play most of this song. Its quite easy once you get the hang of it. i learnt from loads of tutorials on youtube :)
Sure it's easy to memorize it like that, but to someone the least vaguely intrested in piano will realize it sounds shit. Because youtube tuts don't teach you other essentials, that are not so obvious for an outsider, but actually extremely important. Try a piano lesson some day and play that song for your teacher and you'll see what I mean. I'm not trying to be an ass I'm just saying, if you wanna learn - youtube is not the way to go. It can be a nice start, but it can also teach you wrong.
I taught this piece to myself. It's so pretty I love it. A lot of people told me it would be hard to learn, but I actually found it to be very easy lol.
Yeah, it's especially hard when there's that little tiny note that sneaks in :P Also, I find that after playing fast songs all the time, it's hard to move back to slow ones like this one.
If you find the time, will you please post a tutorial? That would be great. I've learned very much of the song so far, but still have quite more to go. Thanks :D
If I can figure out the best way to make a tutorial, as well as get an idea of how to get an above view, and at the same time, find time off of college to do it, then yes! I will most certainly post a tutorial! But in the mean time, if you'd like some of my thoughts on some things, I can help you, sort of? xP
this is one of my favorite compositions, nice job man. Peace

There are no tempo markings (or dynamic markings for that matter) on the earliest scores of it. i've never had a piano lesson in my life and i can now play most of this song. Its quite easy once you get the hang of it. i learnt from loads of tutorials on youtube :)

so did I!! I love youtube tutorials!

A lot of people told me it would be hard to learn, but I actually found it to be very easy lol.

i'm playing this right now and its kinda difficult to get it fluid
animeash 3 years ago
Yeah, it's especially hard when there's that little tiny note that sneaks in :P Also, I find that after playing fast songs all the time, it's hard to move back to slow ones like this one.
ScrappyCD206 3 years ago
same with me

If you find the time, will you please post a tutorial? That would be great. I've learned very much of the song so far, but still have quite more to go. Thanks :D

If I can figure out the best way to make a tutorial, as well as get an idea of how to get an above view, and at the same time, find time off of college to do it, then yes! I will most certainly post a tutorial! But in the mean time, if you'd like some of my thoughts on some things, I can help you, sort of? xP
