  • this is one of my favorite compositions, nice job man. Peace

  • U r so gud at it i lik this soung

  • Perfect ! thumbs up :)

  • (without* emotions)

  • i agree praptolium + you need to produce more emotion cause the notes with emotions are just notes (meaning less) no offence i wish i could play like you but with more (passion and emotion) :D good luck on that

  • I think it would be better if you played much softer, even though it's VERY difficult... You also need to play with much more rubato, especially when introducing the first theme, i think you really need to lean on the semi quaver before that bar.

I would also play it slower

but essentially you need to play it with more feeling - not so mechanical...

  • Have to play with more feeling. Its same tempo through whole song.

  • Love it! <3

  • yea it's good but it has 0 feelings added to the song so it's boring as fuck. Add feeling, and when you do, you pause naturally. You're just playing the song softly. BIG difference.

  • can i have your hands and your piano please??

  • if i could play piano like you.. =/ , really nice man!

  • Wow!! Eres muy bueno!! tocaste muy bien ^^ sigue asi

  • Wonderful. I had to sell my soul to be able to play the piano that way.

  • This is good but needs far more emotion + passion into the notes to make it a real performance

  • Great song!!!!!!!

  • Since Beethoven was deaf, he must either have been a genius of another planet, or extremely lucky.

  • I had a tendinitis on my right wrist because of this song. -.-'

Your playing is great ! :D

  • this is how the great persons are made...

  • Who knows this song from Spiderman web of shadows intro?

  • wow nice kinda sounded fake because its too good LoL

  • can you play the third movement? Cause I sure as hell can't.

  • The right hand is the tricky part, im not used playing like that... Must train train train!

  • 3 people need to learn what good music is :)

  • Well played, with a little more expression & dynamics as previously suggested it could be even more beautiful... having offered the benefit of my professional advice, I wish I stuck to my piano lessons instead of reading the Beano....

  • I have a few comments. First of all good over all. At the begining start of softer and add a light touch to the keys. Also you are covering up the melody which needs to be heard. Also throughout the peice try to play it much softer and the effect you will have on you listeners will be astonishing. But over all good job.

  • you catched that, you played very well, brilliant. but did you play the wrong note at 4:26??

  • @CHizzle98765432 Thank you for the comment! I'm really glad it helped!

  • wow!!! that was beautiful!! ^o^ u play very well!

  • @besttwilightfan32 I thank you so much!

  • To people who believe he's playing too fast, the purpose is the feel that the player puts into it, so there's a lot of personnal touches to it. I for instace would play the G sharps a little louder and after each 3 notes of the first part of the song get a little quieter. There's nothing wrong with what he's done, it's his interpretation.

  • @MrGhostly12321 Thank you for understanding! That was exactly the idea I was trying to express in this video!

  • marvelous! tempo is nearly perfect! i like your version a lot!

  • @MrCharado I thank you Mr Charado!

  • This is a beautiful piece and you have recorded with beautiful sound! However, for constructive criticism's sake, you must feel the piece also with have proper dynamics; also fingering. You have a wonderful start!

  • @stazzisnowman Yes! I'm beginning to learn that I should memorize the piece to fill the space for dynamics~!

  • Comment removed

  • the piece is very good and sound, but you have to give that thing you need is the rhythm, if not sound very fast and can not be assessed as it is, well it's just a comment, I hope you take into account and still good video

  • @zmvckn Thank you! I'll register it in my head ;)

  • is this jack???? i think it is not tht charles dude i can tel by thous hand :)

  • @08gracie80 Jack? My name is Charles Nguyen! Who are you?? :)

  • Really good.i like the way how you play that sonata.Lot of feeling in your playing and the peace is not to fast not to slow.

(Btw if you are curious you can see my playing on my channel.I play the same sonata.)

  • @onelife271 I will definitely check it out!

  • I was looking for a "how to play" tutorial but ended up watching the whole thing anyway. Nicely done.

  • @jgooooooo I dont understand! if u r a real piano player, there is no need for tutorials. Tutorials are for people who are lazy! Go find sheet music! actually take the time to read it. There is free sheet music for this magnificent piece everywhere and still people choose tutorials! This person actually took the time to read through the sheet music. And in my opinion he did a fabulous job with this extraodinary piece. -.-

  • @jgooooooo Hahah NICE! You've been ScrappyCD206'rolled!

  • some peopledont like genius i guess.

  • @kelseyhm LOL!

  • pale

  • @Aresholewins what do u mean by pale?????

  • @Sophia3733 feels like being played by a robot

  • @Aresholewins oh. ok. i didnt quite understand that at first but now i see what you mean

  • im all new too classical music im more for rock and stuff like that but i like it plus its well hard its hard to put it into words.... any way nice playing

    loser comment i know lol

  • @jordonwill Well I'm definitely glad you liked it! It's not a loser comment, it's a great one :)

  • great job! i really like this song and you are super graceful at playing it. Keep up the good work.

  • @snickerdoodle7248 I will try to add even more grace! haha :D Thank you!

  • Beautiful dude, fucking nice..

  • @Fenian420 This is by far one of the best comments I've ever recieved. :)

  • Nice to hear a real piano! If I could make a couple suggestions: There are a few wrong notes and some fingering mistakes...but it would be better if you could play the melody as the dominate notes and throw some emotion in it. You tend to play all notes the same volume whereas it is to be played with the rhythm soft and the leading notes (melody) played slightly louder. Think of it as one playing a melody over their own accompaniment. Best wishes!

  • @keywizard Ah yes, I've been freshening up the song here and there and it sounds much better now! Thank you thank you!

  • This is a beautiful and challenging piece. Even though Beethoven was BLIND and DEAF. He did a good job! I am learning this song on the piano now, and Flight Of The Bumblebee to play at my piano recital at the end of this year. (: Try Flight Of The Bumblebee if youu haven't yet. (: NICE PLAYINGG!! ;D

  • @KiaraMorris haha I just heard that song last week. Someone was playing it very well. The piece sounds VERY intimidating though.. and I thank you!

  • @KiaraMorris ?????? blind and deaf?

  • @desapariciones

I wrote that a long time ago. and yeah, Beethoven was deaf and blind. as you can see i put Beethoven, cause he did an amazing job writing this songgg.

  • Very nicely played! Great job.

  • very good sensitivity

  • ave just started watching.. wheres the expression? lolz wheres the quiet, slow tempo?

Not the best video of this piece on youtube..

  • Love this piece!!! Good job!!! =)

  • @kenvidallo Thats a good order already. stick with it!

  • i think it's a bit fast

  • i have this song on my piano and you're going a bit fast but you're talented ^^ i just finished learning this song :P

  • @5A5AlC1 I hope you're still playing it!

  • haha you played this well ^^

i like your hands btw ;]

  • @MidnightNinjaX LOL I should be a hand model right??

  • wa you're playing too fast, that should be slowly and a bit sadly, but anyway, you did it well^^ i hope to see the (improve) version^^

  • @tony0000111 Improved version in a couple of weeks! LOL

  • You play really well, may I suggest something? Try to use your fingers in a more 'dynamic' way, it will allow the sounds to melt in a less sloppy way. (I'm not saying it's sloppy, just a little too 'lazy')...

  • @lounakin I will definitely watch out for that! Thank you!

  • Hey this is truly wonderful, youve done a fantastic job adn your grandparents would be very proud of you. I cant find the sheet music for this anywhere do you think you could send me your copy of it please? Im actually trying to learn it so I can impress someone I like then ask them out.

    Thanks,

    Chi xx

  • @ChihiroRose1 I'm so sorry for getting to you so late. Are you still looking for the sheets?

  • it is the study of science!

  • this is the best one i've watched yet...and i've been watching for about an hour...lol. you really played it like it's suppose to be played. yes, i've heard slower, but who's to say what is right...or wrong. beautiful!

  • @jughead22 I greatly appreciate it! I really hope you're still thinking of this video! lol

  • a little faster than what was intended, pay attention to the louds and softs and the parts when you have to slow down, you cant just play the whole thing the same

  • i love this peice and i am trying to learn it for my GCSE

  • @lostgeek108 GCSE?

  • too fast, but it's okay, watch mine

  • Too fast? How do you know?

There are no tempo markings (or dynamic markings for that matter) on the earliest scores of it. Not only that, but the original instructions were to keep the sustain pedal held throughout .... though modern pianos have a much longer sustain than pianos of Beethoven's time making that a problem. Therefore everyone has a different interpretation that is completely valid and neither wrong nor right.

    Its all personal preference.

  • hey friend, it was just a personal comment you play very well for me it was not too fast but it could be more quietly because in the begining of the sheet you can see the follow " PP, pianissimo: A part of a composition played very softly or quietly. but doesn't matter you play like you want =)

  • @AJpianoUK

It is too fast - listen to one of the early recordings of this piece - theres a much slower and quiet feel to it - in this is just bar.. after bar.. theres no expression, theres no good pedal work, theres no use of dynamics either.. its just blocky..

  • @steveharley0345 Recordings are meaningless. I've heard several professional recordings that are all at different tempos. Which tempo you like best is personal preference. There is no "correct" tempo to play this at. I agree that this particular recording is lacking in dynamics though. That can happen if you're reading from the page. I find dynamics and expression comes easier when playing from memory.

  • @AJpianoUK AJpianoUK, that was a very interesting fact about the song. I had absolutely no idea. I really appreciate the information and input. Thank you

  • @ScrappyCD206

    You're welcome :)

Just uploaded my own recording of this if you're interested. Mine needs a few improvements too, but it's a slightly slower interpretation.

audio only though. My camera sucks for video recording so i just added photos. Wish I could read and play at the same time like that. I have to learn things and then play from memory. It does let me concentrate more on dynamics though, like you said in another comment.

  • colour me jealous.

  • @katsaur *colors you jealous*

  • @ScrappyCD206 Hey, thanks :)

  • @katsaur Lol! Sorry for the late reply. Will you forgive me? :)

  • @ScrappyCD206 Oh, that's okay. I was just kinda hanging around waiting for someone to color me jealous. No big deal, though. I understand!!!! Hahaha.

  • @katsaur LOL! Well that is something there ain't it!!??

  • With there being little dynamic variation in this piece, it leaves it open to many different interpretations of phrasing and varitaion in timing at different points. Although you did have some element of phrasing I think theres room for a lot more. Just some constructive criticism.

  • @ricardocarey I've been aware of it.. I'm still practicing this song to this day! I really appreciate it!

  • Beethoven was deaf right? Whew..he really is one hell of a composer..

  • @MovieCriticAko Yeah, my friends and I have talked about it before.. It's so crazy!

  • @MovieCriticAko He had tinnitus and lead poisoning.

  • ya'll are the best ;).sorry foh mah bad enghlish ;)

  • @tzacapacatzactzac HAHA! it's perfect!

  • LOVE the way you play this - amazing!

  • @moldirox I thank you VERY much!

  • Comment removed

  • I so have to learn this!

  • @marieSeptember I hope you've learned this already!

  • Great playing!

How did you record? Did you use the microphone from the camera to record the sound?

  • Yessur! I used the microphone on my Camcorder. :)

  • Wow, how did you get the sound so good...

  • I was aware that in my previous videos, the sound was very bad because of the "fluttering" sound, due to it being too loud, so I played a bit more quietly in order to get the sound, but just enough to not break into that annoying sound. :P

  • But the sound recording quality itself, what camera did you use? Would a normal digital camera be alright for recording?

  • YES! Of course! If you haven't heard my Sadame [2] video yet, that was recorded with, I believe, a regular Canon camera, though I forgot how many Megapixels it contained.. This one, I used a JVC Camcorder. Pretty nice camera, but a drag to convert files with. It's an Everio JVC, Hard Disk Camcorder.

  • Beautifully played - my favourite piece - thank you

  • My pleasure :)

  • it's faster than how it's supposed to be played .. btw it's not called decrescendo, it's diminuendo (:

    .. good job.

  • Diminuendo! I'll have to remember that.. Thank you!

  • Bravo !! Now that you master it I may suggest that you work on crescendos and decrescendos to give it more personnality.

Im also learning it for my grandmother, unfortunatly on a shitty casio keyboard !

  • Hey, any keyboard is good! :P I have to do that for my Grandmother too, lol. She isn't able to move, so I have to go over and use a small keyboard. Hahah. Thank you for the advice!

  • This is so awesome!

  • Beautiful. A little faster than usual but it is still beautiful. Beethoven is truly a genius, god's gift

  • I enjoyed this, very relaxing a good exsample on how its meant to be played.

I would like to see more dynamic contrast and maybe a little slower. other then that it was wonderful!

  • play movement no. 3 really funny to play ! :D

  • Oh man, that's really fast!! I'm really scared of that one xD

  • a bit faster than the intended tempo..but extraordinary nonetheless...exquisite job!

  • True this is a lot faster than it's intended to be played but it sounds good so don't criticize it for the tempo.

  • a little extrra resonance. perhaps this could be cured by moving the camera 2 feet more away!

  • LOL oh yes... I was afraid that no one can see my fingers though, which is, I guess, what makes the display picture so intruiging and attractive.

  • Qero ser velada e enterrada com esse som!!! Perfeitoooooo demaissssss

  • Only 1 mistake at 4:27...

Nice playing! At the start you really might try to play a bit slower!

    Congrats!

  • i can play this. but i dont have a piano. IM so SAD!

  • amazing! nice job!

  • OMG :O u gotta teach me Char!

  • Nice one , but its a little fast My friend ,,

try to feel the pain on this sonata .

    keep Practice .

  • nicely played, if i can, i would like to make a suggestion, just slow down a bit at some parts instead of keeping the same rythem, sorry for the bad spelling, and put some emotion in this song, if you do that you'll be good :D check what i mean on my page

  • Sounds great! Nice job!

  • btw you're awesome Scrappy! :)

  • Really!? You mean it!? :D

  • Masterfully done my boy, for your next achievement in this song I would suggest the 2nd or 3rd movement, very complicated and if mastered would be very proffesional looking,

Keep rocking dude, (Fancy talk is not my forte, sorry dude)

Seriously dude 2nd or 3rd could get you some serious tail dude, deuces

  • Gotcha slick! Thanks for the comment! It's very enjoyable to read at 5:34AM. HAH. But yeah, I find the 3rd one real interesting, but the 2nd one is kinda weird. But yeah, I'ma get to lookin at em. Thanks again!

  • estudiala bn estan muchas equivocaciones

  • The way you play is lovely.

  • Ooohh I try! :P I thank you!

  • Extra-effin-ordinary!!!!! Totally flawless!! This is my only favourite classical tune. I wanna learn how to play this..can just about manage the first note lol.

  • i've never had a piano lesson in my life and i can now play most of this song. Its quite easy once you get the hang of it. i learnt from loads of tutorials on youtube :)

  • so did I!! I love youtube tutorials!

  • Sure it's easy to memorize it like that, but to someone the least vaguely intrested in piano will realize it sounds shit. Because youtube tuts don't teach you other essentials, that are not so obvious for an outsider, but actually extremely important. Try a piano lesson some day and play that song for your teacher and you'll see what I mean. I'm not trying to be an ass I'm just saying, if you wanna learn - youtube is not the way to go. It can be a nice start, but it can also teach you wrong.

  • Ahahahaww! What a compliment! You should totally go try and learn it though! :D

  • I taught this piece to myself. It's so pretty I love it. A lot of people told me it would be hard to learn, but I actually found it to be very easy lol.

  • Yeah, it's pretty easy to catch onto the style and get things rolling :P Lovely lovely piece this one :P

  • this piece must be dificult for someone with small hands

  • im learning this piece and i do have small hands :( sometimes its difficult but it is worth trying !

  • Lucky I have long fingers :D

  • i'm playing this right now and its kinda difficult to get it fluid

  • Yeah, it's especially hard when there's that little tiny note that sneaks in :P Also, I find that after playing fast songs all the time, it's hard to move back to slow ones like this one.

  • same with me

  • I agree haha, I cant slow my hand down its like it wants to go fast lol

  • ohh, awesome! but this sonata is kinda boring to be honest. hoo... i like the third mov. the best althou i can not play it at all.

  • this sonata is beautiful, i thought at was boring at first but its climatic at some parts. that' smy opinion.

  • If you find the time, will you please post a tutorial? That would be great. I've learned very much of the song so far, but still have quite more to go. Thanks :D

    -Steve.

  • If I can figure out the best way to make a tutorial, as well as get an idea of how to get an above view, and at the same time, find time off of college to do it, then yes! I will most certainly post a tutorial! But in the mean time, if you'd like some of my thoughts on some things, I can help you, sort of? xP

  • OMG i love playing this song and you did it really well!!!!!!

  • Fantastic...

  • it seems a bit baster than what it should be. justttt a taddd:]

  • Ohh I know it, I know it well T.T But i'm practicing!

  • amaaaaaaaaaazing

  • Noiiiiice-your ready to go straight to the 3rd mvt.
