I used to be able to beat this on the playstation normal mode, as a kiddo, but now that I'm grown up, I don't seem to be able to do that again... *sobs*
2:20...best boss battle in the game...Technosoft was showing the love for the TF IV fans when they chose to bring this ship as well as a few other features (sfx, music, etc.) from the previous four games back...
I would have liked to see Sega of America, and other companies for that matter, release things like that. I have seen online a two pack special edition of Thunder Force 1 through four for ( I'm farrly sure but can't quit recall) Saturn, or was it Dreamcast. I can't quit remember. 1 and 2 were on one disc and 3 and4 were on the other. I also heard that there were plans to make a Thunder Force 6 titled Borken Thunder. There should be a video on this site somewhere with the opening cutscence.
Without a doubt, and it was well worth the $80 I spent to get the imported deluxe version complete with a "Best of Thunder Force" soundtrack CD. But damn Bernie Stolar and Sega of America for not releasing this domestically as well as other key Saturn imports (X-Men vs. Street Fighter easily comes to mind.)
esta es la mision que mas me gustaba de este juego ya que le dan a uno mas armas y ademas la banda sonara de esta mision es insuperable a comparacion con las otras misiones
I love RYNEX but am abit dissapionted that it cant use its full potental against Gauntlet (i know thats wrong) but i think that after you fight off 'dragon-Rynex' u should go one on one against Rynex, but O.O how on earth do u manage to stay alive through out the entire game!!!!
another way to tell this is the saturn version is in the ps version it shows brigdane flying out of earth and earth is beneath it where as the saturn version is as shown here
Not bad, but it looks like the difficulty was set to easy. In the saturn version the easy setting goes all the way to the last level, but they changed that in the psx version to go to the fourth level. This deffenitly is the saturn version, the graphics look better and it dosen't have the amv cutscences.
I agree with you on the cutscenes. I liked the way the Saturn version began with those factoid style messages (Discovered VASTEEL in 2106, Constructed BABEL and GUARDIAN in 2139, and The "INDEPENDENCE" of GUARDIAN in 2150) compared to the narrated FMV intro of the PSX version. Not to mention the FMV credits and "Last Letter" scene on the PSX looked muddy compared to the real time end credits and sharper "Last Letter" on the Saturn. It was definitely the better version.
wish I could get to that point in the game, but it keeps managing to kill me off with really cheap stuff... why does the difficulty jump between the easy setting (which stops at stage 4) and the normal setting (which goes the full way), have to be so high? *sob*

You own. You beat Vasteel without losing the bigger ship. When I had the game I could never do that :(

Both versions of Thunder Force V are good enough to be playable.

it was probably being controlled by GUARDIAN...

In ThunderForce5, the earth where remains of Rynex were discovered is a stage.
The human race develops by using the technology of Rynex.
However, "Guardian" of the computer that manages the human race made by the technology does the human race the declaration of war.
And, the player to get on the fighter "Gauntlet" made by the technology of Rynex develops Rynex and the desperate fight that "Guardian" manipulates.
