Wow, this was very impressive! Thank you very much for including the lyrics-- it put the piece into perspective, hence why the sound grows very light and celestial at "Above the Stars He Must Dwell"-- like shards of divine light piercing a cloud cover.
I believe this recording got a Grammy, didn't it? Anyway, it was the first one I ever bought, I think I was about 14. Nowadays it's hard for me to listen to Dohnányi without thinking about what those crazy idiot Nazis did to his dear, brave hero of a father. When he conducts the 9th, we should listen!
Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!
@gsbreath2 i have also heard another recording of the Cleveland Orchestra but i could not remember what year it was (i knw it is more recent than this tho) and that one was..IS also amazing! and now i am trying to decide which one is a much better recording! but all i knw is that both of these performance's are worth the money and time..i love the soloist in both performance and i love the chorus and orchestra also, in both! i will search it and let you guysknw :P

just one complaint: I wish the sound was a little more dynamic you know? However, the performance is sublime

I cry tears of joy every time Beethoven wants me too. God bless his soul. Amen.
