The Innocence Mission album where this song appears (released in the late 80s) is an incredibly haunting collection of music...very poetic and powerful. Get it if you can find it.
For some stupid reason, Natalie Merchant sucked all the air out of the room for the other beautiful bands whose music was in any way similar (and usually far better). Innocence Mission and also Grace Pool, for two. Their music will always be treasured by those who were lucky enough to discover it.
@fatfrankblack Especially their early stuff, tho I love it all. I discovered them with glow, but i only the past year or two went back and got this album. This song is a stunner, and Black Sheep Wall had me almost obsessed.
thank you!! i was tryin to figure out who sang that song--this is like my 6th time watching beverly hills 90210 on Soap channel...I love that show!!!!
I've been wanting that song for about 20 years since i've also heard it in the first BH90210 but never knew the title / artist! Tonight i did my homework on the net and finally found what i was looking for!
This song could have made them major rock stars of the early 90s, but it wasn't promoted the right way. Karen really nails this song vocally, man, what a great last 1:30.
Is this Manu Katche on drums? I mean it could be their guy with the mullet, but I'm not sure.
@OverToTheBar - That is Innocence Mission's drummer, Steve Brown. He was with them until 1999, when he opened up a restaurant near Lancaster, PA. If you are ever in Ephrata, PA, you can dine at Lily's on Main.
@PopCulture20 Tell you what. We'll agree to disagree, how's that? :-) I guess a show about a bunch of rich, over-priviledged teens just somehow didn't really appeal to me. Imagine that. :-)
@Nigelxman You ain't lying because the 1st year of the show almost got it canceled because it was mostly about kids complaining about money which a lot of viewers were not feeling because people got sick of shows that centered around rich characters but then by the 2nd year if 90210, it started to touch base with reality more but wasn't as realistic as it should've been because it was still about money.
@PopCulture20 Yeah it just didn't appeal to me for that reason. I grew up in this town and I would have much preferred if there was some semblance of realism. But hey, that's Hollywood right? It definitely was brilliantly marketed to a very specific demographic which was young teenage girls. :-)
@Nigelxman Hey I wanted to use you as my online tour guide lol because I plan on living in L.A. but I wanted to know the ups and downs from your experience?

The Innocent Mission's first album was so great. They've had a handful of good songs since then but nothing like on this album.

@Nigelxman LOL Why did you hate 90210? I admit the post-high school years were very overrated, but the high school years were good.
