  • i'm confused, i thought ny-style dancers would step on 1 with the left food and then break BACK on 2 with the right food.

i agree to everything else - good video!

  • dancing which of course is not truth J). Now what YOU should know is that the biggest difference between on1 and on2 exists out of 2 characteristics and that this is the real reason why there are a lot of people who prefer on2 torres or on2 Paris more than on1 dancing (when they have come to a higher level).

  • 1) they are indoctrinated systematicly for years and 2) they cant imagine that there is someone who knowes it better (especially if they dance good salsa and feel a kind of flow on eddie torres style while they are dancing of which they really think that this cannot be reached with on1

  • The thing u say about on1 and on2 and that there actually is no difference bewteen torres and on1 is totally right. But u have to now that people will simply not say 2u that u r right because

  • Hai Zack. This is me from the Netherlands :)

It is very good of you that you are trying to make clear that there are a lot of different opinions on the difference of on1 and on2 dancing. I see that there are a lot of people who react to you without any arguments, you should learn not to react on them. Allright, now the important part.....

  • Hello Zack:

    Thanks for your videos!

Wich one of the styles you danced in these videos is the cuban style or casino?

  • Neither. The NY Style and the LA style.

    Thanks

  • It's hard to see which leg is which since he is wearing black pants.

  • * Recovery is also tough for women in the On1 style, because they must think "break On1". Recovery is easier On2(NY), because they have more time to think "break On2".

  • This is informative and good for people who are really confused about on1,on2, new yourk on2, ballroon on2 etc. Suggestion: instead of counting, play a cowbell, conga or clave and demonstrate the steps. so many people count and don't know what instruments or rhythm they are counting to!

  • I could, but I haven't thought about it. Thanks

  • Zack, thanks for your videos. Btw, what's the song name and artiste?

  • In the real world (or should I say outside the classroom) It doesn't matter how you start. I am sure you will agree with me that it is irrelevant for the purpose of the analogy.

  • It is relevant where you start. You confuse people with the timing. Either you stick to the men timing for both On1/On2 or the womens timing On1/On2. You contradict yourself so many times. If your teaching style is so wonderful why are you not invited to congresses? I'm pretty sure your going to say "that has nothing to do with this & that" If you put yourself as somoene who knows about it so well then you should be able to do just that in a congress.

  • Why did you use men's timing when demonstrating On 1 style and women's timing when demonstrating NY style? When dancing NY style, men start with their left foot back on the 1st beat and then break back with the right foot on the second beat, etc...

  • In on1 style man's step is considered basic, in NY woman's. They both start to the front, so it is easier to compare them.

  • on1 leader steps go forward, NY on2 they go back, the video comparison where you step forward on2 is the PR(puerto rican) style. the comparison is confusing to those who are aware of multiple styles.
