The first amendment guarantees that no religion is forced on anyone; atheists are not trying to stop people from praying, we don't want to take your religion away. Atheists for the most part advocate secularism, which means that church and state should be separated, so that you can pray whenever you want to, but it isn't required nationally or in schools or anything like that.
