You make a good point, trouble is the oil companies are a business and congress would have to pass some sort of windfall tax.
That ain't gonna happen cause the oil companies got SOOOO much money they put influence on our elected officials.
Record profits last quarter at a time when gas prices were highest ever. That tells me they were charging more for gas than was necessary to cover the higher price of crude oil.
