  • How did you lower the wheelie bar like that

  • where abouts of aussie is this? i'm moving over to brisbane soon and would love to join a club

  • @zeppelin67637

Yes back then when the flux came with an am glitchy radio yes

  • Hopefully the new Flux has been upgraded in those areas.

  • @Raptor50aus

The new 2350 is the same as the HP just different motor and esc (both still made by castle creations)

    2200 can run 4s - 5s & 6s

    2350 4s MAX

  • @Raptor50aus yes it has bullet proof now i have not 1 worries after 8 sets of 4s lipos

  • Yes the matchbox car would not fail as much.

HPI crap gears in the centre gearbox. Diffs that fail all too often and the not HPI's fault is the MAMBA crap speed controller that lets the smoke out or sometimes no smoke and dies.

Seen many Traxxas E-Revo's die the same way. Especially with driving on grassed ovals.

  • the hpi savage flux goes about 100 mph

  • @speedrac3r123, the HPI website posted that a stock savage flux hp can only do 62 mph.

  • was this at Murraire??

  • nope

  • so I just fired up my new 2.4 flux hp, after 2mins of run time the blur speed controller caught on fire and melted! This was using charged high quality 2x11.1 5000mah 35c batteries. The car was set up as per instruction manual! Nice work HPI...you ass rangers!! God im angry, Long weekend coming up and no fucking car :( . Hpi can lick my balls and die

  • @madrx2 35c is not enough. They need 120 amps. It says 25 c minimum but most lipos don't put out what they say they do

  • these batterys have a burst rate of 60c, since then It has worked fine with a proper speed controller

  • just purchased my one yesterday! 6s lipo's are charging! :) Cant wait, looks like it will be different to drive than my last kyohso inferno!

  • must be hard to hit top speed with something this insane

  • MAx Amps 3S 5250 Mah

  • With what battery did you fried the esc?

  • Stock wheelie bar.

Yes I have seen the new flux comes with a 2.4 radio, improved diffs and gearbox

  • @Raptor50aus I just bought a flux but got an old box and was pissed because i wanted the 2.4 radio. The Radio it came with was garbage and i had to buy a dx3.0 because it was so fucking glitchy.

I havent had any problems with the esc yet and am pretty hard on it but your not the first I've heard had problems with the esc going.

I hope they warrenty it for you .

I run orion 7.4v 5200mah 40C and havent had an issue yet.

  • Hey have you watched the factory video on the HPI website. Watch it then comment again if I have driven mine harder. I think NOT !!

  • der verzeiht alles

  • how's u install the wheely bar upside down?

  • The new Flux comes with a 2.4GHz radio. Plus you guys need to learn how to drive. YOU'RE IN A FIELD.

  • Gee it only took HPI over a year to release the flux with a 2.4Ghz radio, They must have run out of the cheap crap 27Mhz AM radios

  • Is this a special wheelebar? It isn't there from hpi.

  • it is the supplied wheelie bar

  • @klaswok833 I think he just flipped the original wheelie bar upside down, to prevent the truck from wheelying too much.

  • Maxamps are tops in the shit dept.

Yet again might be due to our hotter climate but the Zippys run alot cooler and last much longer. Same for the Rhino's

  • maxamps are OK, and turnigy and zippy are chineese 2cent lipo craps, ive had 5 blow up/poof, and ive sent them back for them to keep, no more zippy crap.

  • Max amps are complete shit

Mine and and my friends packs have puffed and died in less than a year and cost $450 AUS for 2 !!!!

    CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Zippys are still going strong

  • In saying that it might be due to the location. In Aus the temp's get upto 40C degrees. The Zippy packs run 20C degrees cooler than the maxamps do.

Just can't justify the Maxamps cost.

  • dude, nobody can deny the flux has massive power and is awsome, but its almost uncontrollable and it lacks the noise and controlability of a nitro. check my vids, my savage x ss (heavilly modified) hits 68 mph on tarmac confirmed by hpi on their home vid competition 2009 (4th place) i love the flux but love the noise and the fun of the nitro more!! great vid mate.

  • yes thats right but when you live in the netherlands you juust get the thing out of your house, start it up (not even drive it) and people wil start complaining about the sound so i just got my flux and now im wating on my graupner 6s 5400/5250 and my graupner ultramat 16 charger

  • do you use maxamps batt.?

    plz answer!!!

  • Yes I used Maxamps but the Zippy and Turnigy lipos work just as well for a heap more cheaper

  • I only use max amps in my savage flux and also the e revo brushless I love max amp batterys they are the best

  • The settings are factory correct. I have seen 2 mamba just die no smoke just die this week. in a flux and Revo

  • Yes 100% correct. I have been speaking with the HPI dealer in Australia and Flux's here are failing more when used on grass which draws more amps through the speedy.

I do agree the Flux is very tough but the drivetrain has big faults.

  • i can't wait to get my Erevo vxl and from all i have seen on the poor savy flux its just not worth the mound of money thay are asking for it if it just wants to kill its self all the time in anyway possable

  • The Traxxas motor/speedy never gives me trouble. My friend has a E-revo and Flux both with the mamba speedy and both dead.

  • Heh that's a wild thing!

It seems like many people running 6S LiPo tends to smoke the ESC, just like yours did :(

From what I've READ, it is the ripple voltage draw/load which is the prevalent sinner. Electrolytic caps blow due to too many deep cycles; they heat up. Next in line is the ESC, now without the help of caps that removed most of the ripple. blearrch..

    Symptom remedy/prevention could be:

    - Stronger batts (>30C)

    - More caps!

    - ..and right gearing.

    - What is your take on this? :)

  • yes my friends blur speedy is dead too

  • My solution was to sell the piece of crap Flux and buy a traxxas E-Revo vxl

  • Good choice on your new car! I have an ERBE myself ;) But the ERBE has the same problems with 6S!

I've just changed the gearing ratio from 3.1 to 2.7 at the pinion/spur.. haven't tested it yet, to see if it heats up too much on my 4S Hyperion 5500mA/35C setup. I guess it WILL be running hot.. and fast. Also, some caps will be added.

I am keen on trying a LiPO4 (A123) 6S setup.. It might be the right choice, as voltage would average a 5S LiPo setup.

  • Yes my friends Erevo speedy died on the weekend. He has the flux with a dead speedy too. Common problem. I sold my Erevo and have the Erevo 1/16 scale now

Traxxas motor/speedy dont smoke like the Mamba crap.

  • arnt you ment to use 3s max on the stock flux?

  • Yes the manual and box say 6S is fine

  • Give it time even on 4S the speedy will smoke. 100%

  • haha since u guys were there u should make a lil section where the flux vs one of the planes and drivie it down the run way xD

that truck is a tough sucker :D

i really want one but no money ;( but soon i shall get one

nice vid hope u guys make another one

  • Dont waste your money on the the flux

Get a Traxxas Slash 4x4 which is far better. The Savage Flux has diff and gearbox problems even on 4S

I sold mine as I got sick of the problems.

No problems with my E-Revo or Slash

  • hmm =/ then may be ill get a emax bl eddition

the only thing is that the batteries that come with it as the traxxas leads i use deans and it'll annoying to solder them

  • I made up 2 traxxas to deans adapters. Easy

  • buy a 6500Mah then it will flipp over easy

  • @valteri0007 ..it will just run longer ,not go faster

  • Doesnt HPI have a warranty, i think they do.

  • yep they replaced the speedy and motor. but do not cover the diffs and the gearbox gear that shreds.

  • A mate of mine bought one of these. First off he broke a top suspension arm. Then he put 6s power through it and smoked the slipper clutch. Be careful with 6s.

  • you hate HPI?

  • I do like HPI but they need to fix the problems with the flux. Tough truck but crap drivetrain.

  • what part of the drivetrain is broken?

  • you cant do standing backflips with that wheelie bar.

  • yes no problem

  • Not to mention, 2-3 years from now HPI won't make replacement parts... Happened with my Rush.

  • So tell me have you seen the factory HPI Savage Flux video? Seen what they do with the Flux?

So it's false advertising then. HPI are bullshitting their customers.

  • So what about what it saids on the HPI Savage Flux box and manuel about running 6S ?

Anyway they are a tough truck but with piss weak drivetrain. NEVER AGAIN !!!

  • HI MATE!! YOU CAN HELP, NO! YOU MUST HELP ME:

I' m Italian so my English is not very well. . .(you should answere whit a simple English, thanks)

My QUESTION is: i don' t know if buy an e-revo brushless or a savage flux like yours!!!

1 of the 2 car will be powered by 3s 3600/4000

    . . .

Can you tell me the savage flux's main problems???

    which is better????

    Write me soon thanks Giulio

  • HI, Buy the E-Revo Brushless. Just keep some spare spur gears handy other than that a great buggy. I just bought the E-Revo VXL 1/16 scale

    fantastic !!! I use Zippy 3S 4000 x 2 in the E-Revo 1/10

  • get the savage flux, it is way more durable then the e-revo. also, this guy is doing backflips on the spot with massive batterys, of coarse its gonna break easy. but with smaller batterys and non-abusive driver the truck will be good. however, if your more interested in racing rather that bashing, a e revo would be better :)

  • Well 2 other guys here have the same issue with the centre gear in the gearbox wearing out and diff blowing. Look at the HPI video for the flux. I have not been driving mine that bad. HPI promote this truck to be able to handle tough driving. If you do alot of braking the centre gearbox gear will shred 100%

  • No you don't

They are a great buggy very tough but the drive train has many flaws. The pinions shred over around 25 runs, the centre gear in the gearbox shreds after about 5 to 10 runs, the diffs blow from very mild driving with some. If you like a truck that needs regular tlc then the flux is for you.

  • on two 3 cell lipo's these can get upto 80mph!! i soo want one!!

  • your wheelie bar is upside down.

  • How penis, so wheelie bar :o).

  • same here

  • no wonder it lasted 10 mins that way you drive

  • and u jus plain suck at driving...

  • why the hell wud u take out the original brushless electronics???? thats why the damn thing is so expencive! mamba cant compare with hpi's stuff

  • same stuff the hpi stuff is the mamaba monster

  • The Flux Is The Mamba Monster Just A Diff. Case On It.

The Flux Even Has Castle Wires On It.

  • what i want to know is, why the hell do you have reverse and my flux doesnt

  • All Fluxes should have reverse otherwise something is wrong. Check you Esc manual or else contact HPI.

  • are the mamba max motors and ecs`s waterproof??

  • The motors are pretty waterresistant but not waterproof like some bushed motors. The same goes for the Esc altough the fan ofc isn't waterproof.

  • blew it up huh? who didn't read the instructions and change the pinion huh? you have to change the pinion gear when going from 4s to 6s oh and its in the box when you buy it duh!

  • when you buy it does it come with the pinion to be able 2 run it on 6s. pls reply cause im going to buy 1 soon

  • It comes with a spare 25T pinion, so it can reach the 60mph marker, BUT you need street tires to reduce tire ballooning, and thats coming from HPI

25T also makes the engine work harder, run warmer and draw more amps, and its much harder on the tranny. 20T or lower is better if you want to run 6S and not burn out the truck, literally

  • yes its in the box sorry if im late with reply oh and a guy i know who has one of these reports range probs with the factory radio cause its so fast please read the instructions these trucks are insanely fast if you want durability run it on 4s oh and don't try a 3 speed tranny it will blow up to much torque and the minimum amp hour per pack is 3700 and dont use differnent size packs only use packs of the same mah and c rating if you need any more info leave a message glad to help

  • the mamba esc's have had problems. the v3's are the only ones that have survived

  • i know about this he didn't read the instructions and change the pinion to run it on 6s warranty void hehe

  • Hpi is a very high quality company and will most likely get you a new one or repair the one you have if you take it in. Just a suggestion but 6s on a 2200kv motor is really pushing it. Nue guidelines for the actual neu motor state that 6s is outside the 1y's range. Might have something to do with it. That sucks man I hope they take care of it for you.

  • Maybe you're right but the Neu 1y is 2200kv

  • Thats what I said. I guess I don't get what your saying.

  • What I was trying to say is the motor that comes with the Savage Flux has the same kv as the Neu or Tekno Neu 1y, but they are differente in the RPM. The Neu and Tekno Neu are better, way better. So if I was thinking spending money on a truck like this, I probably buy the brushed one and put it a Neu 1y and you can ride with 6s without smoke ESC's. That my opinion

  • We are of the same opinion.

  • the max rpms for all neu motorrs are 60000 this setup will run it around 44 to 45000 rpms still within its range

  • All other motors are much less though so it makes you wonder. These aren't exactly the Neu 1y motors either. They are built by Steve Neu but there are some differences. Im not saying that your wrong just that It's pushing it.
