I am thrilled at your finds! I volunteer in a private museum on VAMC grounds. The collection spans over 8 wars including the U.S. Civil War. Would you be interested in chatting with the collection owner?
I have to say this is pretty impressive. You must of had either one hell of a battle in your front yard or its a unmarked mass grave site. Still some really great finds man, nice to see someone show some sort of intrest in the war that changed this country. Being from the north the only relics we can find are from the French Indian and Revolution. Civil War however would be some great finds
nice relics, i hunt with a naultilus dmc IIb. Nothing can touch them on relics. I hunted at the GNRS in 2005 at petersburg and took 3rd oplace overall will a
lined I button. ock on man. If you need a huntin buddy let me know. I live near
wilmington nc. not many places here you can get onto to hunt. I still go bout every weekend. very nice video. Thanks.

Nice vid man, it's great to live in the South if you enjoy relic hunting. Me and my buddy are about to hit Streight's trail here in NE Alabama Friday, gonna be recording for youtube as well. But you are super lucky living right on a campsite, how convenient is that.
Cool video, that first whack with the shovel scared the hell out of me, lol. I will never know the feeling of digging CW relics over here in Calif. Was there an engagement in the area of your yard? Or just troops passing through? GL Detecting!
gen.burnsides third division was camped all around me.his headquarters was in a little church called bethel not a quarter mile from the house.thanks for watching!
damn here in stafford on 800 acres i cant find a thing, wished there was more info and maps on where they camped or moved through at around here, to check, great vid, gives me some hope i might find something , but damn the artifacts laws, and parks wont let you dig anywhere, even on some ball fields, :(
This is crazy!I have to walk for miles through the woods to find a good spot! You're in your front yard!I do have to admit I dug the field, which is my backyard, but it had been hit pretty good before me...of course.I still found nice stuff. i.e. breast plate, sabor belt plate, napsack hook/buttons/etc. bullets and buttons. But not 10 FEET FROM THE HOUSE! I cant see how you wouldn't hit a plate with the way to "axe" the ground! I've seen plate cut clean in half like that! Well, good luck. Nice Vid
I lived in virginia in newport news for 2 years. Civil war emplacements are so common that there is practically no place you can walk back in the woods and not find a trench of some kind. Digging in them however will land you in jail for quite some time.
I was at the park one day and went to piss back in the woods and came across what looked to be a cannon emplacement the way it was shaped and the depth of it. Although alot also may be revolutionary war as well.
Hey cool vid. Metal detecting is too fun...I use a garrett 2500 and have found lots of silver so far this year...would love to find a nice field where an old civil war battle took place..when i die, i won't ask God what the meaning of life is...it will be..what was the biggest loot that i missed with my detector...Good Luck hunting...nice job!!
So sorry to hear that the misses tossed out you and your relic bag out the front door into the fre world last night before the county commenced to plow the front utility trench. Hope you are able to get everyting back before she returns from work this afternoon!
where you found that 3-ringer, usually you can find 6 or more in that same spot, i dont know if you looked but thats usually the case, unless it was an expended bullet- Great finds by the way!!!
you "can" find very old coins etc in massachusetts....but nothing like major civil war items. Considering that about 600,000 people died in that war....I can just imagine the historic articles beneath the dirt "down south"
im up in wy. so i have to hope to find indian wars relics, arrow heads up here are sort of like mini ball for you although i would be EXTATIC to find a minie ball.
I'm glad you have history in your front yard. May I suggest any finds to be dunked into a bucket of water first to soak and then to dissolve any crud. Rubbing hard with your thumb is liable to damage it further. Also when you hear a "reaction" in your earphones, don't just strike hard with trowel, but to delicately scrape away the soil layers. Thanks for sharing.
Watching this as a 17-year old Swede, with a detector but without a permit (you need one of those to detect here in Sweden)... This really makes me jealous. ;(
Well, we have a great of several thousand old remains here, including lots and lots of viking treasures. So the prohibition was created in order to protect these remains from "treasure robbers" ;D
So i can understand the people who made the decicion, although i believe you should be allowed to detect at certain places without a permit, e.g. on beaches.
I'm not that proud to be a Swede, but it has nothing to do with the permit. More to do with our rocket-high taxes.
Swede taxes are high, but your quality of life is a lot higher than living in the US in some aspects, such as health care, schools, low crime, etc. But yeah, the no detector thing is a bitch.
thank you greg i made this video after seeing your show.theres alot of people out there that never find anything so i made this video hoping to inspire others to go out and save history like we do i will be making more videos soon hope you enjoy my hunting as much as i do.rick
I am convinced there was a war right infront of your door lol. If you find a dead body I had nothin to do with it. lol j/k. really great finds. I am dying to get out there and hunt mself but the huge snow storm that just hit ontario here sure did not help. 60+cm ugh.
I'm in Froglevel Wildman, we ought to hook up and do some diggin!
