@Uncharted182 Ok bc i wanted better quality I'm saying that he researches how to do it and all this other stuff i watched the first part about eye tv and thats all i needed not to hear his lecture about quality
I dont have imovie 11, I have imovie 09 but I did exactly as you said and when I preview it on quicktime, it comes out cut off, zoomed in a little, and a bit grany. I dont know if its because its imovie 09..but when I get a preview in imovie its exactly what I want it to be so its something to do with the exporting settings? I dont know help!
How come u and some others have "1280 x 720 and 59.94 FPS"? I got 1920 x 1080 and 29.97 FPS when exporting from Eye TV.. I can't change it either. Please help :)
@TH3RM4LCLAN No, no. Go to your YouTube homepage and on the top there is an option called 'Upload'. Click upload and select your file & upload it that way.
can someone help me? i get to the converting onto my desktop in h.264 part but i open it in quicktime it comes out reallly laggy, should i turn down the bitrate or can thiis be fixed?
@SnappleSniping - The reason the video is laggy is because your computer can't handle the bitrate because the video is such high quality. If you do turn down the bitrate, the lag will go away, however, you will sacrifice quality. & also remember that when you do finally put up your video to YouTube, it will not be laggy, because YouTube converts the videos to a lower bitrate (around 4-5 Mbps) while maintaining similar quality.
@MisterShamWow would upgrading my ram from 4 to 8 help or is it my proccessor? and its kinda hard to crop videos when i cant really pinpoint the start and end.
@SnappleSniping RAM would only help if you had A LOT of applications opened at one time. If all you're running is iMovie, then it's the processor. The processor is used heavily in video editing applications and your render speeds will also depend on your processor. (I have 4 GB of RAM and my iMovie does not lag)
@HDSoccerProductions Are you perhaps recording from a standard definition TV. If that's the case, then your file is in a 4:3 aspect ratio and that is why you are seeing the black lines since we made it a 16:9 project.
@14gescal I'm not sure about the s cable. If your using regular component cables, you should get pretty much the same video quality with HD PVR Capture as you can with Eye Tv.
@TehAirzHD - When I export from EyeTV, it is 59.94 fps (although, not really, it's more like 59.932840 or something; I don't know why EyeTV does that, it messes the video up in some editing programs, but that's besides the point)
For some reason it crops mine so there is two black bars on the side and i want it widescreen like yours. how do you do that? just look at my videos on my channel if you dont understand what i mean.
@MisterShamWow I don't think so I'm recording off a standard tv so could that mean anything? But some of my old vids I recorded off a hd tv and there cropped but I was also using a pc to upload those...
Hey, great video, helped out a ton. I recently bought an HD PVR and was recording, but when I go to export using H.264, in the details it says its only 29.97 frames per seconds. I've been using variable bit rate, is this the reason why? If not, how can I make it 59.94 frames per second?
@mkirsch17 Make sure you are recording in constant bit rate to get the best quality & for the frames per second issue, make sure you are recording in 720p ONLY from your XBox or PS3. You can change your settings from the display settings on the console.
Dude awesome video! I have a very big problem though. I just recorded a ps2 game using component cables and when I export the movie in H.264 format into iMovie it comes out as a blank project. And when I try to play the exported H.264 file all I hear is audio and the screen flickers in various colors. Any thoughts? Thanks.
@theloyl1 I have no idea what the problem could be...but it's probably because the PS2 doesn't really support component cables since it wasn't made for HD gaming, so that could be the reason...try using regular composite cables and plugging them in into the front of the HD PVR and recording that way. I think that will solve your problem.
@MisterShamWow ...Thanks for the immediate response. I originally thought that might be the issue too but when using the component cables the video does appear perfect upon recording as the live video does display on the computer screen as I'm playing it watching the tv screen and when I replay it using EyeTV's player it looks crystal clear. It just doesn't support exporting in H.264 after that. But I'll try using the composites and see what comes about. I really appreciate your feedback.
from my experience this is not helpful.. you only imported a 12 second clip.. when you import a 10 minute clip it take like 30 mins to import.. there must be a better solution?
Hey, how do you get it to record in 720p? Mine records automatically in 1080i and how do you get the FPS to 59/60 like yours? Mine is 29/30? PLEASE HELP ME, ANYONE!
@WammyWZ Go to your Xbox or PS3 display settings and set it to 720p, this will fix the problem. Your console is currently set to 1080i/p and the HD PVR cannot record 60fps at that resolution.
Hey bro, when I use the settings for eyetv my shit lags hardcore Idk why. I'm running a macbook pro Intel Core 2 Duo. I can tell this is the best method tho fast export times and good quality.
why export to quicktime when you can export to youtube straight from imovie? does it degrade the quality?
and do you think it would make much of a difference if i record in 1080i and then let youtube do the conversion for me? (file size isn't a problem for me i have a external hdd i save on) thanks for the tutorial!
@pandaBear7109 You should not export to youtube because if you see the information icon next to the 720p option, it only renders in 8 or 10 Mbps which is just OK quality. You want to be able to set it to 13.5 MBps by going to export to quicktime..
also you want to record AND render in 720p because it is a progressive scan video...meaning that all lines of pixels get refreshed at the same time, the i means interlaced meaning the odd lines will refresh first, then the even, so just use 720p
@JamieBoydRatcliff Sorry for the delayed response. This method should produce files that are about 100MB per minute. Therefore a 5 minute video would be about 500-550 MBs, depending on how much effects, transitions, and titles, etc you put in the video. You really can't control your upload speed. If you want faster upload speeds, you would need to purchase a more expensive package from your ISP.
@MisterShamWow OK thanks. I did it all, and uploaded a video. But even at 360p it's fuzzy. Not as clear and clean as yours. I watched your video in 360p and it wasn't all fuzzy. I manly looking at the flag bit were it says who has the flag on my video and it's just fuzzy... I did everything in the video...
Hey I wanted to know if u could go check out my vids and if you notice there is a twitch to my videos like every 3 seconds and i dont know how to fix it if you know why i would be very happy thanks!
If you want 60 fps, go to preferences, then under the "display" tab select "Progressive Scan" under the HDTV drop-down menu. You have to set your your console settings to 720p! If you play at 1080p it will still record at 30 fps.
Fantastic quality! Hey does anyone know why in EyeTV under H.264 I dont have the same setting? Under mine it is 1920x1280 or whatever and I want it to be like his? Any thoughts?
@rmwalshyDESIGN Try changing your Xbox or PS3 settings to 720p....you probably have it set on 1080i which is bad because it is an interlaced picture...progressive scan is much better and the highest size progressive you can get with the HD PVR is 720p...so try changing your console display settings and see if that works. If not, message me. I'll be glad to help.
