@nebonebon Are you serious?? You mustn't be much of a choral person then. Nothing can compare to Part's choral compositions for beauty and awe inducing spirituality. I love speigel im speigel, pari intervallo and Alina, but his choral compositions such as this one, Da Pacem Domine, Nunc Dimittus and the Seven Magnificat Antiphones, are so amazing that it boggles my mind. To each his own I guess.
@guibox3 I also didn't see the movie, but I've read some about the girl in the movie.
She was a lonely girl and killed her cat which she could only dominate. And she wandered with her dead cat in the rain. And she also would take poison to suicide.
All the villager live in a crowd as if a herd of cows, but only both this girl and a alcoholic doctor who was blocking up the window with boards at the last scene were living in solitude.
I love the studies where when classical music is played on the London Underground Crime is lowered by so and so percent and theft by this and so on. I wish they placed this everywhere in public instead of mainstream pop/rock rap whatever. Society would change, wars would end, people would heal...all that im sure.
Since my last post I have been listening to this non-stop. I'm going through some tough times right now and my soul is finding solace and comfort. This song is making me weep in it's beauty mixed with my sadness. Thank God for the beauty that is Arvo Part's music.
Part can take the simplest movements and by simply repeating them amongst a changing backdrop of voices create such beauty. That is where his genius lies. In this case it is the I-V7 repeats like those at 3:03-3:16, the slight alteration from 4:20-4:42, and 5:28-5:45 for just a few examples. Oh how Part's music soothes my soul and brings me peace.
Arvo Pärt is composing such lovely music. Very special and typical sound and organregistration for his music. Wonderfull, you realy can feel the history of his live.
Merci. La musique d'Arvo, même surgie des profondeurs de la déréliction, est toujours illuminante.

The first 5 letters of the directors name are curious especially when compared to Arvo Part.

Oh! Also my comment must be deleted in few days for the purpose of increasing DVD incomes. And the story remains mysterious.
I like his organ, piano and violin works rather than choral composition. Thx.

@nebonebon The poster of the video replied to me and gave me that information and more. He removed his reply though not long ago. I don't know why.
I do know that this song is such an amazing song. Arvo Part just cannot be touched for his beauty in choral composition.

Here's an "ä" to spell Arvo Pärt correctly.
So you'd know.. part means duck in estonian. Please care not to call him a duck..
