  • I really loved these scenes with Anne of Cleves. She looked so pretty and sweet playing cards. I loved the way he whispered 'May I come to your bed'. And snuggled up, and I hate snuggling, was lovely. I was also glad they they didn't have sex. They had a friendship. Henry was alone and scared in this world surrounded by untrustworthy ppl and Anne gave him a bit of peace and comfort, beyond sex. And she wanted nothing in return. So I really liked the scene, even if it was fiction.

  • I love this depiction of Anne and Henry post marriage. It's lovely to see them getting along so well -- and I think the bed visit a little fictionalized but, really, who knows! :)

  • @REBKCP2012 I kind of got the impression that they just snuggled up and slept together in a companionable way. I mean...how often do you see him dressed and in bed with a woman?!

  • Yep...Tudor parenting at it's finest xD. Give your 4 to 5 year old child a real life sword lol

  • What number episode in Season 4 is the scene where Edward shows Henry his mothers locket?

  • i think what anne of cleves was trying to say to him in the most respectable way as possible..that she bares no hard feelings and didnt really want his ass no way.

  • It really is sad that Edward died so young. Everyone overlooks him but...that really is sad.

  • Jane Seymour was my favorite of Henry's six wives. I'm glad she remained to be his favorite also through the rest of his life. :'(

  • Ah, Edward, the only one of Henry's children allowed to talk about his mother.

  • nothing like an undemanding snuggle.

  • This has probably been said before. But WHY is Jane in ANNE'S DRESS?!!!!

  • awww little edwards sooooo cute

  • WTF why is lady rochford in bed with Thomas Culpeper????

  • i nearly cried when edward got out those things of his mother

  • NO! They can't sleep together like that!

  • Anna of Cleves was very welled respected by the English court !

  • It's so moving when they play the same music as in Jane's death scene. A small but touching relation.

  • The smart Anne of Cleves

she should be much better queen

than that Stupid &Silly Catherine Howard

  • The smart Anne of Cleves

she should be mush better queen

than that Stupid &Silly Catherine Howard

  • these scenes are completely out of order

  • I think little Edward is one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

  • What a beautiful, though fictional portrayal of Henry 8's later excellent relationship with Anne of Cleves. It seems here that he regrets that he didn't try harder to make the marriage work now that he's found such a delightful woman to be friends with. What I did read from history was that Henry 8 and Anne did become good friends and continued to be friendly until the end of his life. I can't wait to see this when it comes out on DVD!

  • Anne of Cleves was not potrayed correctly, she was supposed to be a real fugly person, and her and Henry never had sex. My history teacher said she was do ugly Henry couldn't 'get it up'

  • @daniellenicoled well thats what HE claimed, certainly. Of course he would blame his impotence on someone else. Others found Anne of Cleves to be quite pretty.

  • @daniellenicoled Historical records indicate that Anne of Cleves was quite lovely. I think your teacher may be reading a different book than mine. :)

  • Didn't Anne of Cleves want to get back with Henry after he beheaded Katherine Howard? Or is that just me making up things in my head? lol

  • @balletslippers91 haha no he didn't get back together with Anne afterwords, but they did remain friends their whole lives.

  • @BoleynLover1 I didn't mean did they, I was just wondering if Anne of Cleves pushed for a remarriage after Katherine Howard was beheaded. (Really don't know why she would, though -- especially after the way Henry treated KH)

  • @balletslippers91 I've heard that she did want to marry him again after Kitty's death and was disappointed when he chose Kate Parr instead. I've also heard that she was hoping to have their annulment declared invalid after his death so that she could be recognized as the dowager queen. However, I read this in very few sources and not my best ones at that.

  • What a beautiful scene between Henry and Edward. For once, Henry acts like a decent human being and caring father.

  • i think out of all his wives he truly loved jane seymour the best only because jane seymour did her duty as a queen and a wife. the memories king henry must have had of her were probably all good. she did nothing bad.

  • King Henry thought that Anne of Cleves looked like a horse. She pretty hot for a horse !

  • I wonder which if any of his wives Henry actually loved.

  • @PrincipessaDellOpera I wonder which, if any, he loved as well. History makes him seem incapable of love as we know it today.

  • @BelloMente

If he loved any of his wives it would have been Katherine of Aragon, then Katherien Parr, then Jane Seymour, then Anne Boleyn, then Katherine Howard.

  • @ZeroMyHero99 nah....it would have been Jane Seymour first. She gave him a son. Catherine of Aragon was a marriage of convience. she was married to his brother arthur so it made sense that when she died, he took her as the wife. he did marry her when he was 17 so still quite naive as he was not prepared for kingship.

  • @smurfette1411 @he died - not she died.

  • Anne of Cleves was lucky. She got money, property, a title, and her head. She was known as "The King's Sister" - and got to keep OUT of that repulsive old fart's bed.

  • The scene of Edward showing his locket to his father was very touching and sad :( But I really hate Katherine Howard, I don't know why, I just do.

  • @FrauKaulitz1 I know why. B/c Katherine was silly, frivolous and acts dumb. She's not mature, nothing like a queen should be. However, you sort of can't blame her... but i still understand why you wouldn't like her.

  • It is a fact that after Henry's and Anne of Cleves' annulment, they still remained closed friends...He would often go and see her to dine and talk to her...was there anything else going on?? Not sure, since there's never been any mention of it...

  • Edward is so sweet!!!!

  • wunderschön unsere Anna !!!!

  • I think Joss Stone did a great job of playing Anne of Cleves.

  • awww that scene at the end where Edward mentions Katherine is so sweet :3

  • awwww....poor little edward

  • Just wondering if everyone thinks the scene of them in bed is meant to imply that they had a sexual relationship or not? By all accounts was very fond of Anne of Cleves and vistied her often. I see some are saying the scene is supposed to be an explanation of why she never married. I'm wondering if it's meant to imply he found a certain peace with her that he didn't have with Catherina Howard. I can't make up my mind if it would have turned sexual or not. Considering his age and healt.

  • He married Catherine Parr after he chopped off Catherine's head..Catherine Parr seems to me to be a very similar personality to Anne of Cleeves...Could have saved himself a lot of trouble by sticking with Anne of Cleeves

  • Henry in the last years of his life was impotent...I have to wonder if He and Catherine Howard had such an active sex life. If truth be known....Anne of Cleeves would have made him a better wife if he'd 1) not been such a vain fool 2) hell bent on more children. Instead he went for a wife like Anne Boleyn, exciting and adventurous. As a younger man he could keep up with Anne Boleyn...as an old man Catherine Howard appealed to his vanity but he was just to old and couldn't keep up.

  • @chookfeather Well him and Katherine Howard would have had sex a few times because Henry had doctors examine her for signs of pregnancy.

  • @mattfrye1 Actually I meant Catherine Parr...not Howard. I've wondered if his last marriage was about companionship and nurse maid because he was ill. Catherine Howard and that marriage..was obviously consumated and there were pregnancy rumors..but again I still wonder if he could keep up considering the number of men she had on the side.

  • @chookfeather In that case I am not sure, I have never read anywhere about the sexual history of Catherine Parr and Henry but its said he loved her as much as any of his wives.

  • I knew it! He wants what is not his! And Anne is no longer his wife! Sucks to be him!

  • Ha! Only after he divorces her he wants to sleep with her

  • I think Anne of Cleves is prettier than Katherine Howard. Henry VIII was mistaken.

  • do you all think henry regreted divorcing anne of cleves?

  • @elinheartstristin In real life? I dun think so... this scene was juz a hypothetical explanation on why Anne of Cleves never remarried.

  • @elinheartstristin I don't know that he regretted divorcing her, but he did bear great affection for her and referred to her as a most beloved sister at times. He had an unusual relationship with her compared to his usual predatory relationships with women.

  • @elinheartstristin in real no way on show maybe a little

  • @elinheartstristin I dont think he ever regreted it, but him and Anne of Cleves were close friends after their divorce. Whether or not they had an affair like this is debatable but Henry did visit her reguarly at Hever Castle and she came to the Court to see him and after he died she visited his children at court reguarly.

  • @mattfrye1 thanks. i love how joss plays anne of cleves. it makes me want to know about anne. did u like the finale?

  • @elinheartstristin Yes, I liked it very well. You can loook up Anne of Cleves anywhere, she was a very well known lady but she lacked the snobbishness of most high class women then. She was more down to earth than all his wives and was very popular at Hever Castle. She also had more personal wealth from card games than anyone in England. She lived I think around 10 years after Henry died and died of breast cancer at 43. Most people in Tudor England died around 45-50 so for her time a full life.

  • @elinheartstristin If i am not mistaken A.O.C . did indeed want another match with Henry. But, he turned her down. So, surely, if he had regretted divorcing her he would have said yes to another match. But, you can never tell...

  • @elinheartstristin I think he probably did, after she developed English manners and took on English customs. Probably then, he didn't think her to be so strange anymore but it was too late. I think also he liked her because she was so willing to do what he wanted without complaining. However, I don't think he romantically loved her or felt passion for her, but then that would not have been an expectation of marriages in Tudor times.

  • @elinheartstristin i believe they did become awkward friends though

  • I really like how Henry & Anne of Cleeves are getting along very well!!!!!! I think Anne of Cleeves is very pretty!

  • How sweet!Loved it!

  • Why the heck did they cast Joss Stone as Anne? Anne was supposed to be not very attractive and Joss is really pretty! And Edward is so cute in this scene :)

  • @Siveywiveyx anne of cleves was not ugly, in fact, many ppl found her to be beautiful. henry was the only person who called her "ugly" becuz he liked petite and witty women and also because Anne had hurt Henry's pride when they first met becuz she was repulsed by him (she didnt kno he was the king)

  • @orenji196 Perhaps not ugly but the underdrawing of the Holbein portrait did show a much longer face. Might explain that "Mare of Flanders" description he supposidly gave her.

  • @orenji196 exactly, who wouldn't be repulsed by a fat, smelly man lurching towards them.

  • @orenji196

Hmmm, what does that say about Anne of Cleves?

  • @greatleaderleopold what DOES it say about anne of cleves

  • @orenji196

I suppose it says that she was a smart woman with a very critical attitude.

  • Anne of Cleves was German. She was painted in Düren, my hometown.

  • But...this never happened,so why would they match Henry and Anne now?...

  • @HappySlovenianGirl I'm assuming that this is a fictional explanation on why Anne of Cleves never remarried.

  • @JuzTudor70AD I agree.Or maybe also the reason why she was angry when Henry didn't wanted to marry her again after Katherine Howard's execution, marrying Catherine Parr instead.
